  • One of the realities we face as WOCs, nonbinary POCs, and POCs in the workplace is the duality of:
    - having eyes on you, waiting to catch you up or call you out on something, and
    - being unseen, disregarded, and erased from the picture at the same time.
In this video, I share two personal stories illustrating both of these (acknowledging that because of my privilege as who I am, the scrutiny / erasure I face is different from the more violent forms that other WOCs face, namely Black women, Indigenous/Native women, Latinx women).
While we can't necessarily individually change how other people and external systems treat us, we can make sure that we:
    1. Get clear on what our mission is in our career (this doesn't have to be a social justice or collective mission, btw, it can be something like: I want to retire early or I want to make $300K), and
    2. Have our community, our people, our affirming and positive folks in our lives so that we have support-and someone to help us hold the vision-when these things do happen to us
    We are stronger together.
