1,700 ft. ascent along the trail, 10.2 mile round trip from the picnic area trailhead (per my GPS track). We were on the trail at 5:55 a.m. on July 20, 2024; its nice to hike uphill in the cool of the morning. Bring water and/or pump it from streams across the upper parts of the trial. Some folks park along the road side when the parking lot fills up.
Hello my friend! Thank you for showing us a great hike! It was a wonderful view! I really enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing! Best regards in the future!
Great that you could finally check off another point of your bucket list, Stoof. 😉 Such a wonderful and informative hiking video again. Already the opening shots kept me very excited to follow this adventure till the end. Well done, my dear friends.🤘👏 All best wishes, Michael
The Many Glacier area is so beautiful and great hike out to Grinnell Glacier! Bummer that it was smoky that day, but it was still an excellent hike. Love the big horn sheep that you were able to capture on video also. 😊
Omg this looks like one hell of an adventure! Glacier National Park seems like one of the most stunning parks in the country. This long hike seems like it would be tough, but worth every step. I can just imagine how much more immense that glacier at the end looks like in person. Stunning hike!
Great hike we had the pleasure of doing in 2019. It is definitely one of our favourite too and a hard slog for sure❤! We did it through the Many Glacier tours, so we bypassed the parts of the woodlands trail. Great video as always guys!
Stunning landscapes. The path looks epic at times and the area around upper Grinnell lake simply magical. I only did the walk to the lower Grinnell Lake. It was a beautiful walk but I really should have made an earlier start and been more ambitious. Coming from the UK I perhaps did not have the confidence in your mountains to tackle the more challenging walk you show. Thanks for taking me to the glacier with you. Have a great Christmas.
Very cool. We’re going to glacier for our first time mid to late July this year. Hoping we might beat the smoke, but even with the smoke it still looks beautiful out there. Great vid!
Such a great Video! we also love hiking, but you take the viewer so well with you on your hike. We have to learn that also for our Videos! Best regards Lilia & Kai
Wow, Travel SzN !! Yes ! This is a truly marvelous, dramatic hike, superb views and a true challenge. Thanks for this great day of adventure. Cheers, Don 👋
Sorry my message sent before I finished ! I can't believe that I missed your premiere ,I had my reminder set too . Anyway this video is fantastic guys . Wow that tall Waterfall 😍 Anna aww those sheep so cute. Amazing when you could put your head under that waterfall. Loved that so much . Thanks 🙂 👍❤
Just did 3 quarters of this hike because the last part to the glacier was closed from snow and ice. You better be in good shape. I was not but pushed on.

One of my goals, to get to some national parks out west and see the hidden wonders. Been to a few but this one has such diversity! Great insights on the climb and options! Appreciate the details 🤩
Thanks for this video! I’m going solo next month for my first time. Did you guys use any trail maps on the hike to get a feel where you were along the way or heading back?
I use the Alltrails app when I hike to make sure I'm on the correct route. This was a busy trail, so it wasn't that difficult to follow the path because you can see more people ahead of you along the route. When you get to lake Josephine, there are a few side trails that take you down to the lake or connect to other trails, so keep an eye out for that. It was also a tad confusing near the end of the route as you approach the view of Grinnell Glacier - there were a bunch of little trails in that area but all generally going toward a viewpoint of the Glacier. Have a great time on the hike! :)
This hike is intimidating. But hopefully I can hike it at the end of July. Hopefully the snow is all gone. It keeps snowing in the west at these National Parks. That haze still worries me when I visit in July.
did that in august of 2006. looks like a major retreat. I'll need to do that one next year. did GNP last year, missed it this year.I did most of the major ones on that side: iceberg/tunnel ( 2 diff hikes) and swithcurrent overlook( longest hike last year at around 16 miles plus elevation). and what about that road or lack of it in 2021.
yes that construction sucked in 2021! lol. We drove past the park this year and I wish we could have stopped over there again, i love Glacier. The Many Glacier area is my favorite part of the park :)
We went in August. Did you hear it was closed because of road construction, or because of grizzly activity? Sometimes they will close down a trail if there is high grizzly activity for a few days. It looks like Many Glacier area and that road should be open all summer this year though! It looks like today (May 23 2024) the trail is closed 3.4 miles in due to snow hazard. That snow should be melted enough to hike to the glacier view in July!
there are a couple spots with a steep drop-off, so if you are afraid of heights, I'd recommend taking it slow and staying closest to the wall/away from the cliff.
It is possible to see grizzly or black bear in this area of Glacier NP. We saw a grizzly bear a few miles north of this trail when we visited the park. I would bring bear spray, and if you are very concerned about bears, try to stay near a group of other people.

How long it took you guys to reach to the glacier?
How many it took back and forth?
it took us about 3.5 hours to get from the trailhead to the glacier!
what time did you go? im planning this trekking for july 13th , i ve heard can be closed 😢

What time of year did you hike this. Im planning the last weekend in Aug 2024
We were there in mid August 2021!
Is it very narrow near the cliff?
there are a couple spots with a steep drop-off, so if you are afraid of heights, I'd recommend taking it slow and staying closest to the wall/away from the cliff.
How is the trail by that waterfalls at 7:40 mark, looks slippery?
Yep those wet rocks along the water falling down onto the trail are a bit slippery!
@@TravelSzN thanks love your videos
how concerned should i be about bears?

mid August 2021!
