    My personal hair growth success, I myself adhered to this daily regimen:
    Take morning sunshine every day for vitamin D. Eat vegetables of different colors. Using paraben-free and fragrance free shampoo and massaging two times per week with hair oil by litttleextra cooconion. Important to keep in mind that hair growth is influenced by general health as well as circulation and nutrition.

    Adding a drop or two of rosemary oil to my shampoo and letting it sit for a couple minutes on my scalp twice a week has been a game changer. Although I'm not quite sure what caused me to lose 1/3 of my hair two years ago (likely hormonal) using rosemary - in addition to tea tree oil to help with oil production - improved my hair count and volume. Go plants!

      Time stamps are not bad, but a bit overrated, and often not used by consumers of content that much, if I may speak from my own experience. I mean with Mike's straightforward vids that are usually below the 15 to 20 minute mark and cover just one topic they are not that necessary, I think. Creators of longer vids of 30 minutes and more with many subjects (like rating 24 contestants of a show one by one, or unpacking and showing 9 different products one after another) have a good reason to put time stamps for their fans for better structure and search in their video, jumping forward to your fav, etc. Which brings me to the idea that there's a void in the market for a "Stamper", an app that will time stamp your videos for you! LOL! Just my 2 cents. :)

    Hi,
    I was in my late fifties and had a Norwood 7 level type of hair loss, meaning slick bald on most of my scalp and diffuse thinning on all the rest of my head.
    Then about 9 months ago I started daily massaging of my scalp with topical caffeine, peppermint oil and Rosemary oil, as I saw some hair regrowth.
    But then I started using a Derma roller (at 1.5 mm length) on my scalp as this gave me even greater gains.
    With in the third month I started using topical finasteride with daily oral minoxidil at 2.5 Mg sublingually and I also started using a laser cap.
    I now believe that daily Derma rolling or micro needling is a must for the first 5 months when you start out, as I suspect that this must promote growth factors like small amounts
    of exosomes when you damage your hair follicles through micro needling or Derma rolling.
    After doing all of these things couple with a whole food plant based diet I have transitioned from a Norwood 7 to a Norwood 5 level.
    Which means I've got a nice amount of hair regrowth on my scalp and these new hairs are darker.
    Most people who are a Norwood 7 will not see any if little hair regrowth even if they are on the most aggressive forms of treatments.
    As I believe it's a whole food plant based diet that helped me be a better responder to all of this.
    Believe in yourself and you can do this,
    Garrick Quinones

      Hey Garrick, can I still get gains without using any drugs?

    • @Mllet3d
      @Mllet3d 2 года назад

      @@guille8756 I do use RU58841 intermittently and for those that don't know it's an experimental nonsteroidal anti-androgen drug that's applied topically. That stops DHT right at the hair follicle. I also started using topical Dutasteride twice a month now.

    • @Mllet3d
      @Mllet3d 2 года назад

      @@cdtpal3061 You definitely can, but the speed and amount of hair regrowth will be limited to small thin vellus hairs. Think of it as stacking on these treatments and by doing so this can help the most.
      Although using just a derma roller or doing micro needling frequently with oils and Saw Palmetto can be visually good enough for some people. One of my concerns with oral drugs is how it will affect your gut biome in the long run as it pertains to our health.

    From what I've read about the rice water ferment, it's the inositol fraction that stimulates hair follicles? Inositol is water soluble, part of the B vitamin complex, and has also been used to combat some of the side effects of PCOS, of which male pattern alopecia is one. I would stay clear of rice bran oil, bc that's where the arsenic that rice preferentially absorbs is found, and being an oil, would not contain inositol. Just my two cents... 🌱

    I took a one year holiday. Did some casual work to make some coin to support my holiday, lived in another country, away from everything I know, didn't have a phone, no internet connection, and focused on doing the stuff I enjoy doing... when I came back, my best friend was immediately surprised, my thinning hair had all grown back. Then I went back to the daily grind etc. of this life, and slowly it thinned out again. I never felt like I had any stress, but when on holiday a number of months is, I just felt SO relaxed and like so much stress that I didn't know was there just lifted off of me... I think it was the lack of stress that did it for me after considering all other possibilities.

    Thanks for the countinous effort you put into your RUclips videos. I love that you cover such a wide spectrum of topics.
    I never thought that a random video about hair loss remedies could help me with my latest struggles beeing a vegan.
    Since I have to deal with some diffuse but persistant health problems (probably stress related), including phases of hair loss, I really questioned my vegan diet lately. As you have perfectly described in your "ex vegan exhale" video the possibility that you are causing your problems yourself by beeing vegan can cause a lot of extra stress. I even tried to incorporate some vegetarian products into my diet. Hated it. Gave up after one week.
    Just needed a reminder to better rely on facts and science instead of the subjective experience that non-vegans are generally doing better than me health wise (and otherwise). Myself beeing the only vegan I know personally.
    Oh. My doctor never suggested to change my diet btw...
    Hope you continue what your doing. ❤

    The hereditary factor is slightly more dominant on the mother’s side, but research suggests that men who have a bald father are far more likely to develop male pattern baldness than those who don't.

    Another good plant ingredient is quinine, which used to be used in Victorian hair tonics, such as Eau de Quinine. It definitely has a stimulating effect on the scalp.

    Regarding curcumin -- I find that really interesting. Of all the benefits I've read about it, I'd not heard of it being good for hair growth. I've been taking pure curcumin (not tumeric) for several years; and, I can testify that, for me, it has done zero for my hair.
    As for rosemary, years ago I read about it, and it was said that treating your hair with it is what works (and at high concentrations), so just washing with it isn't going to do much. It said that for some benefit, though, to use it in a hair rinse after the shampooing, and then to not rinse it off will help.
    Nice research!

    Thanks. I remember reading some years ago about some promising research in Japan using immature green apple peel. Apparently it contains procyanidin B-2 which may work similarly to ECGC from green tea as they are both plant polyphenols. Apparently zinc is involved too and the largest amount is stored in the prostate gland. Zinc is known to attenuate the effects of 5 alpha reductase. Thanks again, that was very interesting!

    I make a tea for for other health reasons but one of the ingredients is tumeric powder and I drink it for about a week then take a break and start up again. My wife noticed that the bald spot on my head has more hair. So I may drink my tea more often. It is mainly a detox tea that also boosts metabolism I lost about 10 lbs in a month. Now I am also eating better, less magnesium which I understand can cause hair loss if you have too much of it so always filtered water for drinking and coffee. Very hard water where we live.I also started exercising to keep that weight off.

    Only side effect of minoxidil is exactly what comes from his mechanism of action as a vasodilator. It makes you feel like your head flush and swell, but it is manageable if you use the right amount of it and wait a couple weeks.

    • @ordohereticus3427
      @ordohereticus3427 2 года назад +3

      The problem is that it’s not entirely true, but the maternal genetics can play an amplifying or reducing role, given that it’s a polygenic trait and parts of it can be inherited from both sides with particularly strong/known genes from the mother’s father.

    I'm 56 and from around the age of 33-34 my hair started thinning on the crown of my head. It's about 6cms in diameter. I found the best remedy for this is a cap and apathy. 😂😂😂 The cap is just to prevent sunburn, keep the rain off my glasses and the sun out of my eyes. Apathy about the thin spot is the best solution, though. I shave my head monthly as I can't be bothered with hair these days and don't really care if I go bald!

      I know a couple of people to whom this happened when they went plant based. Their periods stopped as well. I asked what they were eating and lo and behold, they were barely eating any leafy green vegetables, almost no lentils or any other legumes. I was : "well what do you expect??!!" Don't blame that on veganism, but rather on your poor diet!" I used to have more hair loss when I was an omnivore. Ever since I switched to plants, it got better. But I eat tons of leafy green and legumes, as well as seeds and nuts. Last time I did blood work, my iron levels were fine. So....I am not a doctor, but I am just relating things that I saw personally. That's all.

    It's easy to assume you won't have all the (potential) side effects of pharmaceuticals by using plants, but that's not true at all. Applying rosemary oil to your scalp can be very irritating (I speak from experience). Pharmaceuticals have had extensive testing, hence them knowing so many possible side effects. The only reason a bunch of stuff like that isn't listed for rosemary etc. is because it hasn't had a bunch of studies on it, and the FDA doesn't require side effects being listed on rosemary plants you see in people's yards or sprigs at the grocery store. I had no benefit with rosemary, clove and lavender using it over a year and eventually switched to minoxidil which worked much better.

      It definitely has its place, but within a reference range and it’s unlikely to be necessary in very high concentrations in terms of its downstream impact on localised areas such as the scalp. There are ways to mediate this without going into the realm of outright eliminating DHT conversion from the body.
