Gilbert Arenas is right. If the NBA gets rid of all the Europeans the defense would be much better, because the offense would be much worse.
it's clear that most people in the NBA media are not pleased with the way European players like Luka and Joker are dominating the game right now
USAs fault. Rules favor defense in Europe. Rules favor offense in US. Harder to score in the paint when centers and big men can park there.
The US (specially black) mainstream media can barely accept Jokic. But they are forced to, because he dominated the last PO winning a chip. They will try everything to prevent a 2nd white european to get to the top. And I mean EVERYTHING! They are hyping up Edwards as the next MJ, they are hyping up SGA because the Thunder are a brilliantly constructed team, they hype up Brunson v(who is somewhat deserving the praise)... they will do everything humanly possible to stop Luka from getting to the top.
Its hard to accept, but sadly thats the reality!
Gilbert is right though. Look at Giannis for example: No athleticism, no speed, no jumping ability, a liability on defense...
The thing is, in European basketball, they rely on connectivity and team defense rather than individual defense.
1 curry aint the greatest athelete, 2 if speed was an issue why does he still cook everyone? 3, go back to 1. 4 is just not true.

3:50 that's ridiculous, they're absolutely digging for stats that plausibly explain their reasoning for not picking Luka.
This has been very obvious ever since Luka's 70 pt game.

Exactly……if any of SGA, Tatum or Antman had stat line of 34-9-10 on 49% / 38% they would be unanimous mvp choice. Anyone can cherry pick some advanced stat to fit their agenda, but basic stats are unquestionably clear

My uncle was selected to do the fry toss years back when he took me to my first game, and he also won! The crowd was so hyped for him. Its a great Mavs memory that I'll never forget!!

Great as always, Harris...i appreciate your sense of reality, the best thing you told us is pace, and I agree, we should go crazy in Wes' style..we have younger and very explosive guys , only hope that Kidd would be in his best coach's mode..and showing little less zen tranquilitty....Kind of miss you with Nick, but hey...

Another thing people are not talking about is how Dante Exum played good defense against prime James Harden in 2018. That Game 2 in the semifinals. Sure he had 32 pts, but he went 0 of 7 when guarded by Exum.
I don’t think people are talking about Mavs defensive depth. They have Gafford, Lively, PJ, DJJ, Exum and Josh. Kyrie is no slouch either. There really is no one that can guard Luka. He burns everyone. That’s why he’ll force your hand on a double or blitz. You do single coverage and wait for him to get tired? Guess what, he’ll pass it to Kyrie and he’ll get that load off too. Checkmate!

The thing with Luka for MVP is that the candidates start the season with a narrative, the starting point for Luka was rock bottom cause what happened last year. He had the best season but started so low that he can’t end first.
But, next year he’ll start super high in narrative, he’ll win it next year
Doubt it. Something will happen to lock him out again. (Injury, a breakout season for some other player.). Who knows. I’m just sick of the hate he gets when it’s unwarranted.
Luka didn’t start slow. Their team did have a lot of injury to start with but Luka had stronger performances during that stretch that allowed them to stay above 500.
I’m not talking about anything Luka did this season. Luka had the best season no doubt, 100%. But MVP is a narrative award.
Jokic started at a plus this year in narrative
Luka started at a negative
So even if Luka did more, he started behind in the race.
Next year he’ll start ahead because the narrative this year have been amazing, especially if it ends with a big playoff run
If Luka has this season again, he will win it 100% next season.
We can only pray and hope that he stays healthy and continues THIS level of dominance. He’s had a historic season.
