About Mortal Kombat:
In “Mortal Kombat,” MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage-or why Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family's safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana-the immense power from within his soul-in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

This might just be my favorite new Benjamin Wallfisch soundtrack, and possibly my favorite new soundtrack period! This was an absolute blast to listen to, and I loved having Benjamin's commentary to read while listening. As someone who loves music, knows absolutely nothing about making it, but loves to sit at the knee of and listen to people who do, I wish it was always this easy to hear composers talk about the process behind making great songs. Thank you Water Tower for giving us this experience completely free.

I love Scorpion/Hanzo's theme especially at the last fight bit in the end of the movie. Even though both are my favs since childhood. With the evil sub zero. The music made me feel like a legend turned hero came to save us.

The callbacks to the 1995 Mortal Kombat are fantastic for fans while also lending itself to some new themes and motifs for the 2021 version. Fantastic soundtrack! My personal favourite is the part in 'Arcana' starting from 53:37

The soundtrack elevated many scenes that didn't have a lot of time to get in emotion, and scenes that did such as the opening tragedy convinced me the movie wouldn't be a waste of time to watch. In general, most reviewers seemed to pay attention only to how the MK theme was handled, which was cool by the way, but there wasn't enough discussion of the poignancy of the soundtrack which added much needed elements to the film which were missing in other places. I think Wallfisch went above and beyond to give the picture real weight and epic mystery, even though some of the film was unfortunately small scale. It's one of the best OSTs I've enjoyed for a mainstream movie in a while and I enjoy it on it's own merits.

Are you kidding me, they completely butchered the theme song.. How does dubstep, trap and EDM fit into the Mortal Kombat world? It's supposed to sound otherworldly, not like a festival for teenagers.. They removed the Goa Trance music from the original movies and that's a shame
@@twentytwo138 I grew up with Mortal Kombat and even the original films music didn't sound "other worldly" it was clearly techno with loads of remixes being produced at the time. This is electronic music again but modernized... So, whats the big deal?
If you want to ignore the original films and compare it with the original games themselves, sure, not much to compare with, but I still consider the new music quite enjoyable to listen to.
It sure would have been interesting to hear some of the original game music modernized though. I'd pay to hear that.
@@mrorange159 Goa trance will always sound otherworldly, even as a fan of the genre myself, it just sounds like something mysterious. But dubstep sounds bad, and it reminds me too much of new-age festivals full of teenagers with colorful sunglasses and balloons. Nothing mysterious about it, and also nothing serious either. Mortal Kombat deserves a grown-up music genre in the movie. I get it, to the unfamiliar ear they all sound the same, but they're not. It's like the difference between rock, metal, punk, screamo, death metal, black metal, grunge etc.. It's all guitar music yes, but they're not the same vibes. Green Day, Sum 41 and Blink 182 are not the same like Metallica, Slipknot or Disturbed.
Tracks from this movie didn't stuck in my head as if to compare with the old movies and Conquest.

Completely agree. These big, sweeping epic strings could belong to any movie. It’s beautiful for sure, but not particularly memorable.
This movie has the most boring/ non existent soundtrack, ever. Seriously...you dont even notice the music...You wouldnt notice a difference if the movie had no soundtrack at all..that is how unmemorable/generic it was. I assume that the movie had soundtrack becauce every movie has, but if you were to ask me, I didnt notice it at all in the movie. For all I know, it had no music/sounds.

Where this 🔥 is? First minutes are dubstep mess, next is standard movie soundtrack without anything familiar with fighthing or MK. It's just a generic and boring stuff here. I hope movie is better than this. EDIT: ohh, sorry, there are few 10 seconds nicely orchestrated version of original theme pasted here of there... but thats only what's interesting here. Few notes, few minutes.

The Techno Syndrome remix on this one is okay, not great but its okay, but what I really loved about it is how the announcer pronounces *SCORPION* on 2:09. The voice feels like its filled with vengeance. Also I really like "I am Scorpion" part at 1:09:56
I just saw the movie, they actually typically use the normal MK theme during one or two of the fight scenes, not the whole time and its not loud (due to it being apart of a important scene)
the end credits are where the remix is played, but for some reason it sounds, better in the credits? like it sounds the same but different too
