My favorite part of NL's Bellingham rivalry is he oscillates between going "I get it just because I'm a tourist doesn't mean they're gonna love me for spending money in their city" to being like "WITHOUT MY DOLLARS THIS PIGSTY WOULD GO INTO COMMERCIAL RUIN, OH FINE GUESS I'LL GO AWAY I DIDN'T WANNA PROP UP YOUR ECONOMY ANYWAY EFF ME I GUESS"
as someone who lives outside of the us/canada, I met an american tourist who said he was from washington at a bar said he was from "just below vancouver" he was surprised when I instantly clocked it as bellingham, just because of nl, and then upon asking him if it's true that they hate vancouverites, apparently they do not whatsoever, it's just insane redditors it seems
Just moved to Bellingham for college, people literally never even mention Vancouver or BC. I hear about Vancouver Washington more than Vancouver Canada for some reason.
Literally every person who has ever posted on a local subreddit is as deranged as you can find just look at r/vancouver for five seconds and you will think the website needs to get shut down

You gotta find the posts hes referring to specifically. They’re never really going after Canadians by name but hooooly fuck the Trader Joes posts are a gold mine like you just know they’re talking about Canadians LMFAO
Best part is chatters coming in at the later segments, not knowing the background lore and being infinitely confused at him going off on some random border town.
My great aunt was from Bellingham and every time we'd visit she'd rant and rave about "those goddamn canadians" coming down on the weekends and clogging up the supermarket 😂😂
I love the fact that I didn't know the Bellingham jokes from the recent Geoguesser, I can just type in "Northernlion Bellingham" and get filled in on the jokes You're doing the fanbase a huge service brother
I grew up in Lynnwood but have been in Bellingham for 7 years: Canadian drivers speed and tailgate, Bellingham drivers flip their cars on 25mph residential streets. there are so many crashes on Iowa Street because the on and off ramps are way too short.
and then on the flipside you have people going 30 northbound on i5 before the exit onto sunset/highway 542 when there's still another 1/8th a mile til the stoplight personally i don't tend to notice much of a distinction between canadian and washington drivers though, both tend to be equally as likely to be utterly clueless or incompetent in my experience don't even get me started on how poorly they programmed a solid 3rd of the stoplights here; lakeway is a mess, sunset is atrocious, and lucky for me those are the streets i have to drive on most frequently lol
ODESZA was one of my introductions to EDM and finding out they're from Bellingham was the most world-rocking, life-altering piece of information I could have received.
i've lived in bellingham, and i've felt the hate from my friends about people from canada. but i'm like, 'there are more washington plates than canadian plates in your trader joe's parking lot.' canadians pay the sales tax, and the weirdest thing they do is order tomato juice in their coor's light. sorry for all the hate the city gives you, i don't get it
I'm an american who was born here but moved to Washington about 7 years ago. Anyone complaining about bad driving in Washington should be aware that the call is coming from inside the house.
I live in Washington and have friends in Canada. I don't mind Canadians coming to visit. When I visit Canada everyone feels cordial like he said. Normally feels like an alliance XD but I guess Bellingham hates it lol
Bellingham hates everything. I saw Dick Dale play there once, and he mentioned he was playing Seattle the next night, and someone yelled out "OVERRATED"
As an american, flag code is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of in my life. I remember being in middle school and one of the kids who put the flag up on the pole every morning wasnt there, so the other kid asked me to help him. I let my end of the flag fall onto the ground while hooking it up to the pole, and the kid started going off on me about how you never let the flag touch the ground so on and so forth. Im not confrontational so im just like "oh sorry I didn't know." But in my head I'm like "it's just a flag who cares?"
LOL as someone who lived in Bellingham for years, it's hilarious to hear about people mad about Canadians visiting. Oh no, they're gonna be polite and friendly at me! Idk how I missed the NL Bellingham lore but ty for this video.
19:45 Ive frequently driven 4 hours on the same highway, I'm camping the left lane the whole time when I know its 1/6th of a day between the on-ramp and off-ramp.
As a Bellinghamster it's surreal hearing someone talk about it. There's plenty to do here, we have like 10,000 breweries 🙂 Also stay out of our Trader Joe's reeee
Being an American abroad feels a lot like being a Canadian in Belingham I think. Immediate suspicion and/or hostility, not based on anything you’ve personally done but rather on what you represent. And the more you complain, the less respect you will ever receive😢
I can understand both sides of this argument, I live in Southern Maine and I love a good Quebec trip, but when the quebecois come down and act like we're gonna speak French 300 miles away in a different country it's a little bit annoying. Although, they aren't the worst visitors we get, that still goes to the flatlanders (derogatory) (people from Massachusetts [fuck them])
I love how supporting the local economy is: our shitty mall, costco, tj’s, mod pizza, and none of the hundreds of excellent and kind small businesses we have lmao
I feel like complaining about the skills of other drivers is like that saying where if you smell shit everywhere you go then it's you that smells like shit.
Ryan with the based take on Subaru owners. Shit literally happened to me four times in one-and-a-half hours of driving in the Metro Detroit/Ann Arbor area. Like, come on, it is 10:30am on a Wednesday: there is no need for you to be splitting lanes as 90mph in your riced-out, base model Impreza.
23:03 Currently in naples Florida. Had something similar but it was more like, holy shit im young. Had to look up the median age. It's literally 30 years more than where i live lmao.

It's pretty funny hearing him say "I'm not obsessed with Bellhingham" for like the 4th time
As a surrey-born kid, I always loved the trips to Bellingham to (in my fathers words): "fill up the tank, and grab some milk"
Your dad was 100% picking up online parts and took the kids as a front to avoid paying duty on it.

What are online parts
@@Dafoodmaster like car parts i assume
ah ok yeah that makes sense i guess. thank you!

It's honestly a nice town, I'm in Seattle and I like to visit there sometimes.
I think my favorite thing about this video is that after going to the subreddit, they don't seem to be that mad at Canadians
I even searched on their subreddit for "canadians" mostly it seems to be neutral to positive.
You gotta find the posts hes referring to specifically. They’re never really going after Canadians by name but hooooly fuck the Trader Joes posts are a gold mine like you just know they’re talking about Canadians LMFAO

I cannot wait to see NL find a way to address this I'm already in tears laughing
Seems to have been taken dowm
I am looking for the post. Cant find it.
wow 42 minutes of pure bellingham hate 🤣🤣🤣
to be fair, the first minute was pretty chill
I'm 10 minutes in and can't believe this is a 42 minute video about Bellingham. A+, no notes
The biggest slander is him saying the tulip festival is in Everett RIP Skagit county
True. Also rip all the streets in skagit during the tulip festival. Its like once a year i get to roleplay living in new york.
As a Vancouverite, this was the best 42 minutes of my life.
My great aunt was from Bellingham and every time we'd visit she'd rant and rave about "those goddamn canadians" coming down on the weekends and clogging up the supermarket 😂😂
Thank you for this. I’ve always heard the anecdotes about the traffic and tourism dollars in bits and banter and never understood it up until now 🙏🙏🙏

As someone who lives elsewhere on the Canada-USA border, the relationship between the two border cities is exactly like this
Your inclusion of tweets and visual aid is incredibly helpful, thank you very much king

Literally no one here drives normal it’s the twilight zone
i always listen to these in the background so i kept forgetting this vid was about bellingham until it came up every few minutes
I find that no matter where I am, people believe whoever lives across their border are horrible drivers
That's because most places don't border New Jersey otherwise they'd say New Jersey. They're not even allowed to pump their own gas for Christ's sake
By the third "Spirit AND Allegiant" mention I was crying laughing. Oh my god
I had my buddy who is a Delta pilot staying over while I was playing this, and that got him chuckling
I knew the Bellingham vid would be a banger but it's so much better than I could have possibly imagined
I thought this was all just gonna be the clip from yesterday and was losing my mind at the video length
14:21 people on the east coast drive like they’ve been blindfolded and are also all racing each other to see who can crash first
another incredible entry in the library, love the bellingham vs canada feud
