this is what people mean when they say seasons 2-4 are the best..stuff actually happened..seasons 6-9 meander and waste time..seasons 2-5 are so quick with their plots and timing...things happen in those seasons...scene to scene..they are not just being comedic..they are actually unraveling plot and emotions and changing povs....seasons 2-3 really did that well...

At my first job, when locking up the front door, I "locked" the door before fully closing it because I held the door slightly open on accident. I was tired, it was late, but long story short, instead of having the lock secure the building, it actually kept it open because it's one of those sliding locks (there are 2 locks and a security system in place). So, I correctly locked the key lock, correctly set the security system, and then unlocked the last lock so the door slammed on the sliding portion of the lock, remained open. Because the system gives you ample time to leave the premises and not trigger the alarm (security system doesn't immediately go off because you have to set it up from inside, and you leave the building) it wasn't until I got to work the next day when my manager walked up to me and asked me if I set the lock correctly in front of 4 police officers and a bunch of camera footage as the cops were called on the site to see a slightly ajar door, but were not able to contact the owner of the building for camera footage because it's 1AM, and they couldn't just leave the building because they didn't want to leave a building unlocked as it was easy prey to any robber on the street. Needless to say I got the business fined $500 and while the Manager, police officers and even my co-workers let it go saying "these things happen from time to time", I am ashamed of it to this day. Didn't happen again. I made sure to double/triple check it every time I closed. I'm also a cross between a Ryan and Jim in the workplace. Wish I had more Creed in me though.
Back when I had an accounting internship I once forgot to put water into my instant noodles, causing them to start smoking in the microwave. Luckily I noticed in time before it went it flames, but the fact that I was inches away from being in the exact same situation as Ryan makes this scene hit different
