They cast an actor who auditioned for the Jim role to play Asian Jim, just as they cast an actor who auditioned for the Michael Scott role as the “another Michael Scott” boss of the company in Philadelphia where Pam interviewed. Those were inspired casting!

Ultimately, that prank cost Jim and Pam nothing, but Dwight had to buy a new phone after he was told to destroy the phone and did so.
