Correct. The 3DS is captured with a digital 240p signal which is very clean and looks horrible when blown up like this, but looks incredible on a 3DS itself. The Gamecube on the other hand is captured on a analog 480p signal which is muddier around the pixels and more forgiving when blown up. Unless this is captured on Dolphin or a modded Gamecube.

Electrex Consoles like the GC and Dreamcast were beasts, way ahead of their time. Just look at games like F-Zero GX and the Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur, still amazing graphically to this day, even to the point of how did they pull that shit off. A handheld like 3DS wouldn’t have a hope in hell of coming near to that quality. Not to take away from what the 3DS can do, I love the thing for letting me play perfect versions of older arcade games like OutRun and many other games from that era, then there’s N64 Ports and I never thought they’d be able to pull off a decent version of Smash Bros. even if it does have some disadvantages over the console version, still enjoy it for what it is.
There's some subtle difference with Luigi's character model that makes me like the gamecube version a lot more. It's like they set up that version of him specifically for the mansion. The new one looks more modern but also more generic, like the got it from a Nintendo shared drive.
this game had very incredible graphics for a game made in 2001 and on the gamecube reminds me of halo combat evolved being a strike on the xbox bec it was made by microsoft itself which means alot of people know how to push their own consoles to their max easily
Nintendo probably made a 3ds version of luigi's mansion because it would've been a lot easier to get and because it is portable. If they were both jut as easy to get most would prefer the gamecube version.
They both have their ups and downs. The original Luigi’s Mansion did it better with the lighting and more realistic graphics; the controls on here seem to be more simple; the only downside is that it’s less colorful compared to the 3DS one, and the original Luigi’s Mansion didn’t have a boss rush mode like the 3DS one. The 3DS one did it better with the colors and smoother movement, the only problem is the 3DS quality and the new controls you’ll have to learn; it’s entirely different compared to the GameCube controls. I think both are great, but my preference will go with the original one because that’s the original and the one I started with, also the controls are better on the GameCube, in my opinion; not to mention that it’s a classic. The 3DS one is great because the new generation can be able to experience the Luigi’s Mansion we originally started with on the GameCube.
@Playboy Pikachu025 The 1st game looks way better. Dark moon had an interesting art style that made it harder to notice, it was ALOT more simplified, and it lost some atmospheric points because of that. Not that its bad, because it looks good, just not AS good as the original, in my opinion.
@@S113Productions To me, it just looks bigger and more speratic. Alot less natural, but it probably looks "smoother," because maybe animation frames. It also helps that its alot more pronounced.
There’s actually a real lighting system in the 3DS remake. They swapped real lighting for the textures and environment geometry. Fair trade all things considered, because I doubt they’d be able to have all of it plus that. Also take into consideration that the game is made to run on base hardware, and for the 3D it renders everything twice.
3DS might be my favourite Nintendo console. The exclusive library between 3DS and DS titles is insane. The 3D feature is also very underrated in gaming IMO. Mind you i have the New XL one where the 3D works well.
I do prefer the coloring of the original. The blue tint makes the mansion feel cold, more distant, and, well, haunted On 3DS, the colors are more natural, making it feel like a normal mansion. Maybe that makes it even scarier when ghosts pop up? But you already know the premise, so wouldn't you expect ghosts, anyway? The GameCube also has more clarity, the 3DS only going up to around 480p Other than that, both versions seem pretty sound. It's pick your poison. Or... choose your chocolate since it's a good game? 🤷
Nothin beats gamecube graphics for its time . Could still play these games today . Cant play alot of xbox360s tho . Also luigi looks legit scared in the gamecube version
feels like the gamecube version had more details in the designs. I know in the video there is a upscaled rom but even the 3ds version would not have as much details if upscaled. and also for me the lighting in the gamecube version is better
The fact that the GameCubes graphics where so much better and it so much older is a point on why the GameCube was a very powerful console you could tell by its size
I'm just glad they kept the original ghosts in the remake as opposed to the cutesy looking ones in Dark Moon. Really subtracts from the "scary" when they're so cartoonish.
@@RZonYT Maybe scary was the wrong word. Definitely looks like a much more cutesy game as opposed to the original. I just don't care for the art direction.
More people should watch the 4k comparisson. It shows much better how each really look like without misleading people about each versions pros and cons against eachother. Shame this one has way more views and stuff.
Trust me on this, 3DS version is no slouch on a N3DS. It's the only game I bother to turn the 3D on, it's almost as if this game was made with 3D in mind.
The 3DS does have higher resolution textures but ultimate they added to much colors and contrast and Luigis new model is vanilla and uninteresting, not mention the gamecube had better lighting and shadows and particles with the one odd exception being ambient occlusion and bounce lighting, but combined with a lack of real shadows and reflections and a better flashlight makes for a weird style that technically darker but also worse even though you would think it would improve the atmosphere.
There isn't a lightning effect on the 3ds version? what? how? that is 90% of the original games atmosphere! Also as shown, luigi literally does not have a shadow on the 3ds version. WHAT?!? It doesn't help that the 3ds version looks covered in resin, like who covered the mansion in honey? The ONLY thing the 3ds version has going for it is that it sometimes looks superior in the lighting department. Seeing a lot of familiar rooms in a darker setting is kinda cool. All that being said I'm just happy that another generation of gamers gets a chance to play this game without needing to buy outdated hardware (debatably) or commit emulation crimes.
The GameCube has better effects of course with transparency with the ghosts and better graphic fidelity, but the 3ds has much better use of color and lighting, honestly I think the 3ds is more immersive than the original. I love it.

Blew up on a large TV, yes, maybe GC looks nicer, but on the 3DS's screen I never felt I was playing anything other than the GC version, something I played through at launch and on Wii using backwards compatibility. It's really a technical marvel.
The Gamecube is more powerful than a 3DS. But it surely isn't more powerful than the New 3DS. At best it trades blows with it.
I'm just glad I get to play this game. I never did on Gamecube. I own a 3DS and now I can.
What is that music, I love it
What's with the music? This game has a fantastic soundtrack, there's no reason you couldn't use it instead.

I've Luigi's Mansion in 3DS and i prefer this version than on Gamecube ; Luigi has so weird facial expressions in the GC version when he was terrified.
The 3ds lighting kills the vibe of the mansion compared to the gamecube version. In the gamecube version even when you capture all the ghost in a room and bring the light back its still has a not dark but not bright lighting but on the 3ds it looks really bright
That's because the gamecube was really bad at handling intense lighting...
We need..!
Luigi's Mansion HD 1 y 2 for nintendo switch.
Javired Velazco nah that shit can’t run it they need to make it for the wii u
@@user-bn4he9iu4p switch can't run it? Really Man? switch can run DOOM very well, luigi's Mansion graphics are easier than that.

1. Nintendo stopped supporting the Wii U in 2017. They've been taking all of the exclusive games and porting them to Switch.
2. The Switch is more powerful than the Wii U.
Boy, when they said "remaster" they weren't kidding.
More like they were. Might as well call it a port with better textures and lower resolution.
The resolution is better on gamecube, but the textures are better on 3DS. It's like what they did with Mario 64 and Mario 64 DS.
And that's great because the Citra Emulator can render 3DS games in HD, so we got a great remaster.
GameCube looks better. It’s sad to see that the 3DS can’t handle GameCube graphics.
This comment, I love it. Very accurate, someone knows there stuff very well!
Kinda confusing considering the 3DS could basically run Xenoblade on par with the Wii.
@@Gigantemanatee The Gamecube and Original Xbox were beasts. The Dreamcast was the first 6th generation console which is why it was the weakest.
Truth Textures aren’t everything.
There's some subtle difference with Luigi's character model that makes me like the gamecube version a lot more. It's like they set up that version of him specifically for the mansion. The new one looks more modern but also more generic, like the got it from a Nintendo shared drive.
Un juegazo!!!! Me sentí niño otra vez , nostalgia
this game had very incredible graphics for a game made in 2001 and on the gamecube
reminds me of halo combat evolved
being a strike on the xbox
bec it was made by microsoft itself
which means alot of people know how to push their own consoles to their max easily
Nostalgia pura llevada a una portátil
I wonder why they got rid of the “wires” on the door.
I don’t know why, but I found the wires or vines or whatever a bit off in the original back then.
@@itstrayantula7082 They were weird, but I think they also had a nice unnatural feel to them. Somewhat creepy.
Nintendo probably made a 3ds version of luigi's mansion because it would've been a lot easier to get and because it is portable. If they were both jut as easy to get most would prefer the gamecube version.
I think it was a long wish they had since Dark Moon's release but never got time until Grezzo pick it up
They should have ported Luigi’s mansion on switch and remastered it. I would have played the shit out of that.
Smoother movemnt in 3DS? In my opinion, luigi looks so stiff and awkward. The animation for ghosts amd better though. But thats about it.
@Playboy Pikachu025
The 1st game looks way better. Dark moon had an interesting art style that made it harder to notice, it was ALOT more simplified, and it lost some atmospheric points because of that. Not that its bad, because it looks good, just not AS good as the original, in my opinion.
Playboy Pikachu025
I was talking about the remake on the 3DS.
Gamesforus
When Luigi’s vacuuming a ghost in the 3DS one, it looks smoother for some reason.
@@S113Productions
To me, it just looks bigger and more speratic. Alot less natural, but it probably looks "smoother," because maybe animation frames. It also helps that its alot more pronounced.
Better colors and portability with the remake
Martell Tha Cool That lightning looks awful though
There’s actually a real lighting system in the 3DS remake. They swapped real lighting for the textures and environment geometry. Fair trade all things considered, because I doubt they’d be able to have all of it plus that. Also take into consideration that the game is made to run on base hardware, and for the 3D it renders everything twice.
so better spooky colors
Luigi!
People saying GC has better resolution but it’s probably running on a emulator. GC wasn’t HD
Really want to play that game ! My 3DS has been sleeping for too long !
U should buy 3ds games for it
3DS might be my favourite Nintendo console. The exclusive library between 3DS and DS titles is insane. The 3D feature is also very underrated in gaming IMO. Mind you i have the New XL one where the 3D works well.
Okay.. Luigi’s mansion dark moon is in switch but not Luigis mansion?!?!?
Please, what’s the name of the song? 🎵
Anyone notice the censorship of the demon face on the door of the mansion?
They’ve done a great job by releasing for 3DS
I wish Nintendo would make more GameCube games for the 3DS, i.e. Mario Sunshine, Mario Strikers
Name of song please?
I do prefer the coloring of the original. The blue tint makes the mansion feel cold, more distant, and, well, haunted
On 3DS, the colors are more natural, making it feel like a normal mansion. Maybe that makes it even scarier when ghosts pop up? But you already know the premise, so wouldn't you expect ghosts, anyway?
The GameCube also has more clarity, the 3DS only going up to around 480p
Other than that, both versions seem pretty sound.
Or you just go to your PC and play the 3DS game in HD. Looks way better...
Did they add idle animations for Luigi or the game already have it? I never played the first one.
I swear this song is youtubes new anthem.
The music kills it dude!
I'm just glad they kept the original ghosts in the remake as opposed to the cutesy looking ones in Dark Moon. Really subtracts from the "scary" when they're so cartoonish.
The goal in Luigi's Mansion 2 wasn't really to make a scary game...
It was meant to sell to kids too...
@@RZonYT Maybe scary was the wrong word. Definitely looks like a much more cutesy game as opposed to the original. I just don't care for the art direction.
what's the song name for the music video?
More people should watch the 4k comparisson. It shows much better how each really look like without misleading people about each versions pros and cons against eachother. Shame this one has way more views and stuff.
Trust me on this, 3DS version is no slouch on a N3DS.
It's the only game I bother to turn the 3D on, it's almost as if this game was made with 3D in mind.
This music is AWESOME
I want Mario Sunshine I've always wanted to play it. But I'll settle for this as a substitute.
If they ported this game to 3ds do you think they can do windwaker or twilight princess?
Nintendo should remastered this game for the Switch, not just the 3DS.
Just think how a tiny device 3DS can do such good job to really Remaster the game! Both version are excellent in their way.
The GameCube has better effects of course with transparency with the ghosts and better graphic fidelity, but the 3ds has much better use of color and lighting, honestly I think the 3ds is more immersive than the original. I love it.

I don't know if it's me but I'm seeing the 3DS version better than the GameCube version. Technically, GameCube is more powerful than 3DS.😢
I bought this yesterday for my 3ds
3ds looks more atmospheric
Indeed. Lighting on the gamecube was... well the gamecube came right after the N64 and you know how that looked...
Some people think it’s supposed to be better that gc just because it’s a remake. It really annoys me. It’s not the people who say gc is better and personally I think it is but just because it’s a REMAKE doesn’t make it a REMASTERED version.
who do you want two win n3ds or ngc?

Out of PURE curiosity, has anyone else had the game lag while fighting a ghost that’s in front of a mirror? Playing on an original 3DS.
Blawky Wolf it doesn’t lag on a new 3ds
I really prefer the Gamecube look.
Not gonna lie. Looks good and it's nice that it's making a return, but I'd be a lot happier if it was for the Switch instead.

Screen resolution aside, it looks leagues better on the 3DS. Aside from the dust. The dust is gone. But that's more trivial than anything. I mean it WAS a good detail but it was really just there to show off what the GameCube could do then they released Wind Waker which is far less-you know what I'm going on too long here there was dust and now there's not open close just like that.
Cant believe 3DS is slightly better wow...#3DS4Life
I'll stick to the original version. It just looks better to me and gives off a better vibe. That whole vibe is pretty much gone with the remake, mostly cause of the graphics and the colors just being too vibrant. Also enjoy playing with the gamecube controller :X
I think the 3DS graphics look better and i like that its darker but the gamecubes lighting looks better for example the scene when luigi frist meets egad the lighting in the gamecube looks more blue and the rest of the game the gamecubes colors look more dull and less vibrant
