They act on static electricity so you sometimes get "attacked" just by walking near one. It's only the cholla cactus that do that, but they can be real bad.
They don't really fly, but the name comes from the plant drops tons of little Cacti plants everywhere. They sit in branches, litter the ground, and the extremely sharp needles will make even the slightest brush to stick deep in your skin or attach to clothing. I have heard Cholla Cacti are the most painful to remove. ruclips.net/video/Lfv1QfOtDhA/видео.html
LOL that's in Tucson Arizona where I live and those jumping cactus are no joke they don't actually jump but if you barely Touch One they'll get all over you and they are excruciatingly painful.
I didn't see any large knives, but if you are one that likes to be prepared a pocketknife is a must. And look at that, they were even prepared for this...
+elchuchofried Not true at all. 'Only' around 1/3 of Americans own guns. I'd hope almost everyone owns knives though, otherwise you're probably eating a lot of take out.
The jumping Catus has made its move and it's has scored a surprising bloody back. And why u look at that. The blood is going 17inchs down his back. What a wonderful game of Golf
As a 50 year Phoenix golfer I have learned respect. In one tournament a guy reached under a bush to get his ball. He was medivacked out. Playing in a tournament in San Diego’s Singing Hills the same thing happened to another combatant. The south east has Gators, everywhere has snakes and Northern Wisconsin has the vicious but elusive Hodag. Golf takes place in a cruel world; stray off the fairway with extreme caution.
I would’ve done the same. Everyone’s in the way. First a guy standing there causes your shot to fall in the gully then everyone’s in the way when you’re looking for your ball.
I used to live in AZ and teddy bear cholla (jumping cactus) were no joke. They hurt more than normal cactus and the sad part was,my brothers and I got attached by them all the time.
Rory's face though, he really went like😬 The way they all reacted was funny, like when a cartoon character crashes into something off screen, I was almost expected a random tyre to come wheeling past😂😂
Car keys, knifes, hair combs and wallets being used to remove the cactus off the man. Im surprised we didnt see a vacuum cleaner or an AK 47 being used as well.
Chollas are like the Devils Club of desert plants. One slight contact with skin will leave you in agony; it's like a reverse pincushion where the ball has all the pins sticking point side out.
TheRockShow I know within ft they’re so smart and while the announcers are saying “It’s most likely going to ricochet hard to the left” yet there’s 20 people right down the left side within 11ft Lol Geniuses
He was really far off the green and his ball was stuck on a rock so they were probably trying to get action shots of a failure. Also, he hit it way too hard for what he was trying to do
I don't think he did anything to him @ 0:39 the guy is standing with no idea they are on his back. Looks to me like he leaned gently on the cactus and they just attached to him rather than him falling on to them because Rory's ball hit him.
Yikes! These cacti are no joke! they'll go through your shoes if you have thin rubber, and the spikes are hollow so they curve / hook when they stick in.
The spikes have gone through his shirt and are stuck in his skin. Probably would have made it more painful to take his shirt off as it would pull the spikes in wrong directions.
I came here expecting a sentient cactus to attack a man. Most dissatisfied.
WDW Videos lmao here is the very same thing
WDW Videos me too bro

"Look at all the knives... What, where'd all the knives come from?" God i love his reaction.
Merica!
Ever heard of the wild west? Arizona. Nuff said.
Every middle aged man should carry a utility knife on him lol
Golf crowds are surprisingly gangsta
Where I'm from most men always carry a small knife. I thought it was a common thing.
the person who used the hair comb to remove the cactus is a genius

They've done it before for sure

Bang Stick no need for security they have open carry
Poor soy boy scared of every knife. Man you must never leave your house
As long as they're civilized there's no problem. People like to carry knives just in case of emergency. They're needed in many situations.
Lets position our posh golf course amongst all these neat man-eating cactuses. Shall we?

Huuurrr hurrr hurrr
I really appreciate how everyone jumped in to help this guy out
I love the British commentators reaction to 5 guys immediately flipping out their knives.
Imagine living in a country where not every carries a knife.
