I sort of thought after Canto IV that the Ayin/Carmen conflict sort of became less relevant in the face of the infinite possibilities of the mirror-world but NOPE. Carmen is actually a MULTIVERSAL THREAT
@@ZackReap There are some that are not, like Liu Ryoshu's, where it's all instead narrated by Ryoshu herself. But yea, if the narration is not in first person and refers to the sinner as "the child", then yes, it is Carmen narrating
Well this is definitely an exciting development. One thing Ive seen mentioned in the discussion around Carmen as a character is what her goals as the voice really were. Specifically on whether or not she saw someone manifesting their ego being the same as distorting, with her not caring as long as someone falls into one of those two categories. But with this Im quite confident that Carmen is entirely team distortion, with her seeing ego as just a shell around the person’s true self and hoping for that carapace to crack like an egg and unleash what she sees as what people are supposed to be. Don’t know if this was commonly accepted read on Carmen before this but it was exciting none the less for me ^^
idk if she considers proper EGO a shell, she refers to it as self-restraint most notably in the line "The child failed to reveal his true self. He even fell short of full self-restraint." where the 'true self' would be distortion, and full self restraint an EGO not entirely sure how shell and self restraint can be connected in a semi literal way, so unless shell is entirely symbolical, and therefor doesnt mean much of anything besides "not true self" which we already knew, i dont quite see it
@@Sopsy_Hallow She, however, does consider Distorted Philip as "The Apex" of what he can be so there's definitely some favoritism for Distortions there.
@@Sopsy_Hallow If I had to guess I might have been thinking about the key page text for the Red Mist in Ruina where after hearing her prototype mimicry ask her if she desires her own shell that she ends up manifesting her ego.
@alonelyperson6031 It's probably not just Distortion but whatever mega-Distortion the Ensemble reached in their rematch. Philip in their second fight mentioned they had now "reached the Apex" then as well so it's likely that specific upgraded distortion is what Carmen wants.
While I admire Sinclair's bravery, I have to wonder what the hell he's hoping to accomplish by standing his ground and fighting. He has nothing left to gain here, he's digging his own grave instead of moving on. It's no wonder the EGO is unstable: the heart is there, but it lacks purpose, a clear goal.
@@employer2659 Yeah, but if his legendary mentors were wiped just like that, it's not his half-baked unstable E.G.O. that's going to turn the tide around. His idea of turning around and coming back with reinforcement is much smarter than making a pointless last stand. I can't blame bro though, the Library heightens emotions and you don't make the most rational decisions under their influence.
I think that it's mostly for the sake of it. He's not doing it to gain something concrete, he just wants to prove himself, even if he gets booked. To Sinclair(and thus Philip), the real defeat would be turning back once again.
@@popopop984 I like to think that once 'Oscar' shows up and gives him the NTR show he just thinks "That's... it? WOW! Such a weak blow..." And gets full EGO out of disappointment and being so self serving to think he deserved a better ploy than 'Your crush was fucking your boss'.

Can't believe four words from an Uptie event got me so hyped.

I hope we got the full manifested E.G.O of philip sinclair just to spite on carmen lmao
Carmen: “Eh, the other phillip failed, so this version will fail too.”
Sinclair: “You are wrong, for I am simply built different.”

"You're wrong, Miss Carmen" - Philipclair and Dongrang on awakening E.G.O
Didn't expect full confirmation of Carmen being the narrator of the stories.

Don't forget, about 2/3 of the lines here are described from Sinclair's point of view.
