I like your videos. I would suggest adding graphics with numbers and titles when doing a ranking video.
Indeed great idea
Did you have Breakfast at Tiff?
I see what you did there
You should make a video talling about I'm Still Here. I don't see many videos here on RUclips talking about this movie. I'd love to see your whole opinion.
Yes!
UP!
Great video!! My top 3 from tiff are The Brutalist, Emilia Perez and Flow. Also really loved Bird, Hard Truths and The Substance. I was very lukewarm on Queer when I initially saw it as well, but it has really increased in my ranking since tiff pondering on the imagery and themes, and you have to admit that Lesley Manville's performance is something!
Thanks for another excellent and candid video, Brian. You are such a candid, impressive and respectful critic. Keep up the great work!
Oh my God, Im Still Here. Both Fernandas are legendaries at Brazil.Fernanda Torres win best actress in Cannes back 1986. But in Brasil she s most know for her comic performances . And Walter Salles became the richest filmmaker in the World, as heir to a bilionar bank. So there will be no shortage of money for the campaign.
sorry for the english. i understand more than i write
I'm Still Here for Oscar ❤
Brazil mentioned!
Go baby girl, go Nicole Kidman for second Oscar
Erotic thrillers are not oscars cup of tea. Unless it becomes a massive hit like fatal attraction its not gonna happen
@@mrsrdan
Give Nicole her 2nd Oscar
Yes Nicole Kidman for second oscar best actress.....she nailed it in baby girl
@muhammadhazim7399
Have you seen the movie on one of the screenings?
I'm so excited for the Mike Leigh/
Marianne Jean-Baptiste reunion, especially if she's going to do something so radically different from "Secrets and Lies", one of my all time favorite movies.
First time I've been this early to one of your videos, Brian. You're the man!
I’m still here e Fernanda Torres ❤❤
Ainda Estou Aqui! Vai, Brasil! 🤩
I'd recommend you to give Emilia Perez a second chance with a rewatch
It makes it better, it's a whole rollercoaster of emotions
And my friend agrees with you on that part, you may not like the movie at the end but you won't get bored
I am so excited about Anora. I have learned to trust you ;)
Hi Brian, I wanted to say, I admire your work and your passion for it. I love your chanel, since i discovered it a few weeks ago. I wanted to ask if you would be interested in making a ranking video of the most ridiculous oscar nominations/ the ones, whiched aged very badly?
Love from germany ❤
Thank you brian brow❤😍
About the list
I trust your opnion❤
But you surprise me from anora review the film was the best😲something i dont expect
I was hope you watch anglina jole maria in tiff
Brutalist....it sounds like the Godzilla film winning on special effects on such a tight budget. I'm excited.
I also like how you're upselling Babygirl.
Thanks for the info, you got me excited for so many of these!! Babygirl most of all.
Fernanda Torres ❤🇧🇷
Hi Brian! You said that you hadn’t seen Mikey Madison in anything before but she played one of the Barbies in “Barbie” last summer. I think she was the doctor or the physicist. One of Barbies in “Barbie” little group of girls.
I love being this early 😊
You beat me :/
Sing Sing is the BEST MOVIE of the year and deserves nominations in most categories. The movie was shot on 16 mm film, in 19 days, with a very small crew. The DP, Pat Scola should be nominated for an Oscar for cinematography because the visual look, the lighting, the film choice, all created the naturalistic atmosphere to tell the story. Accompanied with Bryce Dessner's score that sells the beautiful scenes and intimate facial expressions. And kudos to the director, Greg Kwedar, who allowed dialogue to be ad-libbed at times, which created the emotional essence throughout the film that tugs at your heart. The cast deserves best ensemble because 90% of the cast are the formerly incarcerated men that participated in the RTA theater program while in Sing Sing and that authenticity shines. And what can you say about Coleman Domingo.... he deserves the Oscar this year, his performance is perfectly understated, and he allows the other men to shine because this is their story. Well Done!! Also, Clarence Maclin and Paul Raci both deserve best supporting nominations. Their performances tie the strings that pull the film to its brilliance. Best movie overall in a very long time and well worth the emotional journey.
omg are you a bot? because you are spreading this in every video about oscar... jesus
Fernanda Torres is extraordinary in "i'm still here".
How much money was spent all costs included?
great list!
Regarding The Return, I read about the premise of the film when buying tickets and learned that the film is only adapting the last part of the Odyssey (which I have to admit I haven't read yet). Immediately, I had a feeling that it was not going to be a straightforward adaptation. So for its world premiere screening, I went into with the mindset that it was going to be a character study rather than a historical epic/literary adaptation, and I think that probably helped me enjoy the film a lot more than you did. Having Pasolini doing the Q&A with the great Juliette Binoche as well as Charlie Plummer also contributed to the experience (Binoche was hilarious, BTW!). They basically confirmed my approach in that they wanted to put the focus on how the relationship and dynamics between the characters were affected by war and power struggles, and stripped back the mythology aspects and also went with a lowkey set design compared to your usual historical epics. I'm sure that some people in my audience probably thought it was a bore (the couple next to me left without watching the Q&A), but I'd say most in the audience were pretty gripped by the story, and even clapped and cheered at Odysseus's triumphs. The film did get a standing ovation. I ended up putting it 9th out of the 21 films I watched at TIFF (ahead of the likes of Saturday Night and Hard Truths, which I liked but not loved), and voted for it for People's Choice.
Wish you said in the title (plus The Substance) to see how it ranks!
You didn’t see Unstoppable?
I finished Telluride with The End, and I feel the same way about it. Bit of a disappointment, especially because I ran to the showing from Conclave
I think Wicked may slot on.
Will Wild Robot beat Inside Out 2 for best animated feature?
"Anora" must be something. I've only heard great things about it. Despite the fact the trailer looks as if it was shot on an iPhone - not to mention the font choice which instantly smells of pretense. But I always say trailers are meaningless, so I'll give it a watch anyway!
Ya now what's all but 'meaningless'? The word 'pretentious'. In my experience, nearly everyone who uses it does so incorrectly, as in not getting the meaning. Or just cuz they don't get a movie, novel, album, etc., so they just say it's pretentious; which is dumb and unfair to the work. It's the maker who may or may not be pretentious. The work itself doesn't have a mind, so it can't a claim to be s/thing of more importance or significance than you may arbitrarily decide it isn't.
@@kevinlakeman5043 It's odd that a "meaningless" word such as "pretentious" has a dictionary definition that's been correctly applied here. Perhaps you should consider reading one? Then again, it's evident that you have reading comprehension difficulties in general, inasmuch as I never criticized the "work" itself. That'd be hard to do since I haven't seen it yet. Despite your being a smug little jack ass, however, I'll concede that not everyone may see anything pretentious regarding the use of that font style. It's a subjective, personal observation, as valid as any other when it comes to interpreting art. That's why the suggestion that someone doesn't "get a movie" just because one's reaction or opinion differs from yours is also meaningless, It presupposes there's an objective, absolute truth to art, which indicates you obviously have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to that form of expression.
oh im sat
What?! You didn’t watch the Tragically Hip documentary?! 😝
Queer is my number one
the brutalist is a snooze.
4 minutes ago. I'm sick
In theaters, I slept through MIB2.
So what?
I could see supporting actress being
Daniel deadwiyler
Selena Gomez
Zoe seldana
Ariana grande
Soirse Ronan
Best Actress 2025 Oscars
Mikey Madison
Amy Adams
Angelina Jolie
Saiorse Ronan
Nicole Kidman ❤
Demi more in the substance also insane and spectacular performance, I believe it she will be nominated for best actress......Julianne more and Tilda Swinton also give spectacular performance in the room next door .....btw I want Nicole Kidman win second oscar for baby girl, she nailed it in this movie.
He looks silly but well informed Stupid delivery a bit infantile….
What a pointless video?😑🫤
😕Pointless video? It’s obviously not pointless to you. To even write a comment on the matter.
It´s great that you loved I´m Still Here. Walter Salles is a spectacular director, and Fernanda Torres is simply mesmerizing.
Fernanda Torres IS phenomenal, indeed!
So be it and Mikey Madison wins best actress at the Oscars. She is Fantastic
Honestly I could see it happening. I need this movie to be released now.
as long as saoirse double nomination, cool about it😊
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Thank you for pronouncing Toronto the way it’s pronounced there (Tronno)! 🇨🇦
Seems like there are a lot of good but flawed films this year. Absolutely most looking forward to Anora, The Brutalist and The Wild Robot.
So most years there aren't 'a lot of flawed films' at film festivals? Are there 'perfect films'? Not sure there are perfect anything, really, as it's so arbitrary. That just seems like a lazy comment to make.
One word for you.... chapters.
Sounds like you learned a very important TIFF lesson this year: the English-language premieres are hit and miss, but more often miss. Unless it has major Oscar buzz, I skip it in favor of non-English films. The bar for them to get into the fest is simply higher.
Glad you saw a lot and enjoyed a lot!
Been waiting for this!
I love the video, but did anybody else notice the order of the Batman films not being in release order
The Brutalist will pull momentum and sweep major categories. Amazing
My thoughts the main competition is going to be between Anora and The Brutalist for Best Picture Oscar
Where would have allocated THE SUBSTANCE had you seen it at the festival?
I'm happy you watched I'm Still Here. Have been following your channel for a short time, but I really enjoy listening to your opinions - even though i don't always agree with you - LOL. But I agree most the times.
I'm also surprised to see so many Brazilians following you. Sooooooo... I think it would be nice if you could give us Brazilians a full review, telling us what chances you think I'm Still Here has to winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
Surprised you didn’t see Eden, I enjoyed it and I haven’t seen anyone else talking about it
Best actress nominations for this year...
1) Nicole Kidman - babygirl❤
2) Angelina jolie - maria
3) mikey madison - Anora
4) Demi moore - the substance
5) tilda swinton or julianne more - the room next door.
Next in line:-
1) amy adam - nightbitch
2) karla sofia Gascon - Emilia perez
3) soirse ronan - the outrun
Nicole Kidman will win best actress, not Madison. Sorry bud.
I love “The Brutalist”. I thought it was a well crafted movie.
Hi Brian. This was so interesting to watch. It will take forever for some of these to come to Denmark, and many may never make it, but now I know some of the films to watch out for. 🙂
Selena Gomez Never
Now that she is a billionaire, she may have more clout.
When you talking about i'm still here🥹
He talked about it at 14:40
