Awesome video! Thanks for the ride. I've always liked these vintage buses. I've never ridden in a Silverdale bus, but I've seen pictures of them. Never mind who the driver sounds like. If he knows how to drive a bus safely, and he knows what he's talking about, that's what matters to me. :)

It reminds me when I was a kid and the bus agency had them... they kept them with a open exhaust and they sounded so bad ass

I enjoyed watching this video...boy if I owned this old Greyhound Bus I would clean it up, re-finish it and restore it to the old Greyhound livery look. Brother you don't know what you have here. A Jewel of a bus! Thanks for posting. What part of North Carolina are you located?

The lope of the engine at idle is normal. This tells you the rack is set correctly.
If it is an N series injector, they lope even more.

I have never seen a 1948 silverline restored the way it use to be with the sets and all.

that bus looks all original by all means. it was built when we KNEW HOW TO BUILD THINGS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. GEE I WONDER WHY IT STILL EXIST

If the steering is that hard I suggest she hasn't been greased on a regular basis. Every GM coach I drove that was properly greased drove with one finger. Standing still it took muscle to turn, but as long as it was moving steering was easy.

Very interesting! I can't believe it's got a column shift. How many forward gears?

Why don't they paint, and fix up the old Greyhound coach, bring back the Greyhound colors and restore it to it former beauty. I wish I'd own this coach!!!!

And check out at 5:54-6:00 as he hits the reverse button (standard issue on all of the GMC stick buses) and goes into 2nd to split it into reverse.:) (again like others.)

It was also 10 or 15 years before Greyhound used the two lane roads through the top of the mountain.. buses used major interstates way back in the day many of them wasn't even allowed on U roads,& if you wanted to catch the bus you had to go to the nearest major city,& in many places you still do. I don't get what the hoopla is all about anyway, because you're just sitting there on your can holding a steering wheel going straight up the highway nothing to it but to do it,& even way back in the day as you say it wouldn't have bern problem unless you had to do a lot of turning or steering, which isn't the case in your predicament,.& let's face it even if it were you're driving a bus not the space shuttle,so basically all you really need to do is just sit there all silent like hold that steering wheel and listen to their hair turn gray and your donkey spreading out.

it doesn't run great, listen to the uneven idle.

it's running fine, the idle buffer screw is just a little bit out of adjustment.

I don't think I'd want to ride a bus if the driver sounds like Goober Pyle.... He just doesn't sound smart enough to trust my life to.....
