Never thought she was a poser. She was a pawn of the record industry who after her contract expired became true to herself. her lyric's on Jagged Little Pill where great.
Wow!!!!! I have heard the orginial of this song and it blows me away that she performed it again. A little different from the fast tempo to the slower tempo but I give Alanis props for still sharing and embracing her earlier works. Not many Americans know about these earlier years because it wasn't released in the US. Go ahead girl! Love all your music I'm a die hard fan.
I like both versions, the one she sang in 1991 and this remake in her own style...Some people here are fighting over this song...But everyone should remember, her career gotten better over the years.....I will have to say, if Alanis had chosen to still do songs like Too Hot and others like it, there would never have been a JLP era, so everything happens for a reason
I don't view her as singularly pop,or grunge,or alternative rock!She's everything!She's been everything and she's still everything now!Nobody is just one thing,you don't just feel one emotion...I don't know...
Hahaha, this is cool. I'm glad she's not afraid to dig some of her bubblegum past up and be a little tongue in cheek about it, but still showing her talents. In the 90s when she made it really huge I was a bit skeptical about her new "dark" image but she eventually won me over after a few years. I think she has a great sense of humor. LMAO "Come on party people in the house."
I'm not normally the biggest Alanis fan, but this such as an inventive...erm...reinvention of the song, that I can't help but like it. Appreesh. Come on, party people in the house. Wave your hands like you just don't care.
Alanis (Like I think you will read this, not) but, this is exactly why I think your one of the best performers alive today. The original of this song is or was, well just awful. You took it and made so much fun from it. Your my one "get out of jail free". In relationships, both parties have that one that if the oppurtunity arose, which both know it never will, you can fool around with no reprocussions. Well, your mine, and probably always will be. Thanks, your "Too Hot"..... LOL
Well, the reason why she became "jagged", is because she wanted to find her own voice. Most young artists go through fazes to branch out to see how far they can stretch. As we can tell by later albums, she has kind of returned to her 80s self. She is able to draw from her experiences and because of it, we have what she is today.
i would have given enything to be there ans see her perform that song! that's so great that she remembers where she came from back while she's back in toronto.
sweiland75: The show was Thursday December 12, 2002 at the Air Canada center in Toronto, Canada. Found my ticket. I was row 2, seat 4 on the left side of the stage. This show got poor reviews, but I loved it alot. Alanis is fantastic live.
This is awesome! I like singers who can laugh at themselves and their embarrassing past. It's amazing what adding a last name can do to your career (I'm looking at you, Dido and Bjork).
I find it hard to really compare the two versions cause really, the original was done at not only a very different time, but also a different time in her carreer where she was still trying to find her footing. Jagged Little Pill was her breakthrough album and this was like 3 years before that.
Funny "ironic" twist on the hip-hop elements of the song. Gotta love it when hip-hop is done in that 'deadpan' "suburban (code word)" way. Although a bit cliched now.
Hysterical. "This song deserves no introduction." She should accept the fact that the Alanis album was awesome for its time. Nothing wrong with it at all.
@GuitarSlinger26 : You can't. She never recorded it beyond the original recording on her Canadian album which was pop version. Want this version, download the video file from youtube, then convert it or extract the audio. Its the only way you'll get it.
I believe she wanted to give credit to it.. it was one of her first hits.. and it was a hit.. if only in Canada. 'Deserves no introduction.. ' literally means that she felt she didn't need to introduce the song.. as the song itself was already enough for you to get it.
@GuitarSlinger26 : No problem, glad I could help. Its not pirating when the music you're using is unreleased. Lani makes no money from it either way. There is so much unreleased music on the internet, so many live recordings of covers and such. Just in Lani's case alone, you could fill 10 CD's will stuff she never released. Enjoy
at least she, has payed respect to where her seeds first began to sow, into full blossom that no female artist comes near to achievin' the success that she has garnered.i mean lyrically she has changed her style, maybe even dramatically.. but i hav the most utter respect, for someone who has no probablem lookin' bk!! she shines when she is on stage and she is far frm afraid. ;]
It's been everyday now. And it just won't go away now, no. Life is so intense now. Not much common sense now, yeah-eh-ah-ah. And late in the night I turn out my light, yeah. A song in my head, and it says "step inside the real world".
@jennywenny1000 when she sang that track back at the time she was under her parents demands and label dictation- I think the toned down version has a distinct sadness that echos that and I hold it as valid in that right.
That dance album, her first album she made here in Canada is exactly what made Brittney spear rich beyond believe few years after. Alanis should have stayed on the heavy rock dance vibe
Rafael Aguayo not at all. she has stated many many times how proud she is of those older albums. despite not baring her soul on them, she is happy with them and still plans to reissue them in the US after the upcoming 20th anniversary edition of "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" that they are working on
kisscatastrophe hi :) I’m not saying she is embarrassed or not grateful for those albums I just think she gave some sort of an ironic twist to the song because she is not in that state as an artist anymore, she is much more honest and not one-dimensionalised.
...the fact that she perfomed this song here (which was in what 2002?) shows that she is ackknowledging that point in her carrer...and besides it sounds better this style than that horrible fake synthed up early 90's version.
Not a bad transition from up beat pop song to her depressed "woe is me" style she had for a time. How cool would it have been to see her completely wig out 1991 style, choreographed dance and all?
LOL @ her trying to hippie-ize/grungify her hit Canadian dance/pop song from '91. I want to see the "jumped on the 1990s neo hippie chick bandwagon and never got off" version of Alanis sing this song exactly how she did it on her debut album.
am I the only one who LOVES both versions pretty much equally?
Warren NOPE I LOVE THEM BOTH EQUALLY
That's the spirit. Don't deny the music you've done in the past, but give it a twist in regards to who you are now.
You know someone is talented when they can perform in multiple genres as they grow. She’s boss
Never thought she was a poser. She was a pawn of the record industry who after her contract expired became true to herself. her lyric's on Jagged Little Pill where great.
She completely turned this song around! I love both.
OMG! What a fantastic version!! Good on her for recognizing her past, and blending it with who she is now!
Wow!!!!! I have heard the orginial of this song and it blows me away that she performed it again. A little different from the fast tempo to the slower tempo but I give Alanis props for still sharing and embracing her earlier works. Alanis loved this song and her performance of it at the time, living her dream as a teenage pop star, then.
Awesome, the two versions are great!!! This woman's got talent, and TRUE REAL TALENT!
Omg an she please re release her two pop records this is amazing
my life is more complete now that i've seen that.
god this version gives me chills
A much much better version than the original 90s hit. Now THIS is something I'd be happy to listen to!
I was there. Front row (er, but not center). Was very cool in person! Thanks for sharing the vid.
This is a great version of her dance pop tune. I guess she still does do at least one of her pre-JLP tunes, at least to her Canadian fans.
"This song deserves no introduction."
Hahaha...
I don't view her as singularly pop,or grunge,or alternative rock!She's everything!She's been everything and she's still everything now!Nobody is just one thing,you don't just feel one emotion...I don't know...
You do know. Most people don't
OMG I love this much darker version!
I think "Change is Never a Waste of Time" from her second album would make for a good acoustic cover
This slower version is way better! Sounds haunting but still catchy. Also her vocals are perfection here as always
"C'mon party people in the house."
LOL!
Love her re-interpreted version.
It is so funny to watch this after seeing the original video! I love when she says, "This next song deserves no introduction."
Wow hard to believe it’s the same song! Incredible. She’s incredible.
I'm not normally the biggest Alanis fan, but this such as an inventive...erm...reinvention of the song, that I can't help but like it. Appreesh. Come on, party people in the house. Wave your hands like you just don't care.
I like the pop version, hey she's from my home town, I love all her stuff.
she reclaimed it, took it back...made it her own AGAIN....
I always liked this song
I loooooove this song! Thank you 💖
love, love, love this.
She should do the same with her other songs from her first album, like "Feel Your Love", "Walk Away" and "Plastic".
love this too! Both versions are awesome stuff! :D

I was there that night😭👏🥺 Air canada center 12/12/2002
It was surreal when she did this!
It’s nice that she sing this song again. But it feels very deflated from it’s energy.
It's like her "My Humps" video--if you tune out the vapid lyrics, it's actually really good.
I'm obsessed😂
OMG! This rocks! Awesome.
sweiland75: The show was Thursday December 12, 2002 at the Air Canada center in Toronto, Canada. Found my ticket. I was row 2, seat 4 on the left side of the stage. This show got poor reviews, but I loved it alot. Alanis is fantastic live.

OMG!!! I F-N LOVE IT!!!
love this song
I love this woman!
its a testament to who she is know that she would play this song live
I find it hard to really compare the two versions cause really, the original was done at not only a very different time, but also a different time in her carreer where she was still trying to find her footing. Jagged Little Pill was her breakthrough album and this was like 3 years before that.
wow much better, the text seems much more compelling
Funny "ironic" twist on the hip-hop elements of the song. Gotta love it when hip-hop is done in that 'deadpan' "suburban (code word)" way. Although a bit cliched now.
Te amo Alanis!!
q bueno..
jajajaa
q lindo haber podido estar presente en ese show
Hysterical. "This song deserves no introduction."
She should accept the fact that the Alanis album was awesome for its time. Nothing wrong with it at all.
A good song can be done in different styles...and this applies to this song.
just great! = D
@GuitarSlinger26 : You can't. She never recorded it beyond the original recording on her Canadian album which was pop version. Want this version, download the video file from youtube, then convert it or extract the audio. Its the only way you'll get it.
haha to the people that don't understand this is a totally *ironic* version of the song, as to maje fun of her old poppy era
No way!!!
I believe she wanted to give credit to it.. it was one of her first hits.. and it was a hit.. if only in Canada.
'Deserves no introduction.. ' literally means that she felt she didn't need to introduce the song.. as the song itself was already enough for you to get it.
loves the long long hair
brilliant

She lied us. She said that she's not prepared or comfortable with sharing her early songs and it was fake.
In a concert, Toronto 2002.
Her new cd is gonna be titled Flavors Of Entanglement...should be out very soon
Its Alanis' song and she can sing it any way she wants to. Who should she be "thankful" to? The record company that make lots of money from this song?
I agree with robskalas. She can do whatever she wants to that song. Personally I think this is just as good, if not better, then the original.
And this is the real Alanis
It's been everyday now.
And it just won't go away now, no.
Life is so intense now. Not much common sense now, yeah-eh-ah-ah.
And late in the night I turn out my light, yeah.
A song in my head, and it says "step inside the real world".
Brillante :)
hahahhaha.... I will try do add this song to our band set list
@jennywenny1000 when she sang that track back at the time she was under her parents demands and label dictation- I think the toned down version has a distinct sadness that echos that and I hold it as valid in that right.
This performance of "Too Hot" is more ironic than "Ironic".
Ha! Totally!!
HAHA i LOVE it. shes incredible. does anyone know how to play this on the guitar?? i cant find the chords :[
yes
That dance album, her first album she made here in Canada is exactly what made Brittney spear rich beyond believe few years after. Alanis should have stayed on the heavy rock dance vibe
Haha! Wow, this is brilliant.
can any1 send me this version on mp3 plz
I think this is her making fun of her early work
Rafael Aguayo not at all. she has stated many many times how proud she is of those older albums. despite not baring her soul on them, she is happy with them and still plans to reissue them in the US after the upcoming 20th anniversary edition of "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" that they are working on
Source?
kisscatastrophe hi :) I’m not saying she is embarrassed or not grateful for those albums I just think she gave some sort of an ironic twist to the song because she is not in that state as an artist anymore, she is much more honest and not one-dimensionalised.
It's her guitarist Jason Orme.
I can't believe alanis did this as the alanis we all know now :)
...the fact that she perfomed this song here (which was in what 2002?) shows that she is ackknowledging that point in her carrer...and besides it sounds better this style than that horrible fake synthed up early 90's version.
WOW! It's all about delivery,,,
You...liked...."Too Hot"?? Try listening to it with the volume on.
was this for the feast on scraps tour, if it is i wonder why she didnt put it on the dvd.
Oh no..... sorry orginal so much better alanis love you babe but dont drown that song .. keep up the positive dance . You looked amazingly happy
I am sure Alanis does not like doing this....but I think she did just to prove she hasn't forgotten it
Who did she introduce with her on stage? I couldn’t quite make out what she said
lindisima
It’s like a brand new song....
*deadpan* "... c'mon party people in the house."
Not a bad transition from up beat pop song to her depressed "woe is me" style she had for a time. How cool would it have been to see her completely wig out 1991 style, choreographed dance and all?
The guy saying "Comeon party people in the house" caught me off guard.
That's great it was kept in the remake lolol
Well shit. I like this one also. Guess that makes me old lol
Hahaha She's the best !
LOL @ her trying to hippie-ize/grungify her hit Canadian dance/pop song from '91. I want to see the "jumped on the 1990s neo hippie chick bandwagon and never got off" version of Alanis sing this song exactly how she did it on her debut album.
I liked the 80's and original Too Hot, and always thought she was a poser with Jagged Little Pill..all screamy angst grunge and "I'm so unkempt".
I like the pop version better. Thought it would have been funny if she song the pop version!
I hate to say this but you don’t know how dangerous it is to sing a pop song in front of rock metal and alt fans
3:08 💘
whatever. Check out the 4 Alanis videos from 10/19/07 in the search rmbralph
