- Vino Pop is a device that uses the power of air to open wine bottles. I tested it out with four wine bottles, with mixed results. I found this at Walmart for $20.

As a dedicated wino, I've seen this advertised and wondered if it was as easy as they made it appear. But while I've stuck with a corkscrew, everyone has experienced the cork piece falling into the bottle. This product was impressive but appeared difficult for anyone without optimum strength in their hands. Great demonstration as always, you manage to teach and to entertain as well, wonderful combination!
I wouldn't try this in public - indecent behaviour?
I am a 12 year old boy living in ireland and thanks to the vino pop i can fuel my raging alcoholism with pride and more effort than with normal wine openers thanks again vino pop 😀
By far, this must be the most fun episode to make cuz there’s 4 open bottles of wine 😁
Have you try Coravin wine opener? It let you drink wine without popping/ removing the cork out of the wine bottle.
Thank you for that hearty belly laugh this morning!! Oh my gosh I laughed so hard tears ran out of my eyes! YOU are hilarious with this wine opener. Happy good vino times James!
I bought one because I like the physics involved. Mine works flawlessly. Air is not being pumped out. It's actually being pumped in to pressurize the bottle. Pressure inside becomes greater than the atmospheric pressure outside then presto!
OMGosh, that was SO entertaining!!
I loved the theatrical presentation. Bless your heart with all of your attempts. You are quite intrepid (much appreciated), since like all your viewers, we all want to know if an ASTV product lives up to the hype.
I have to say, this Vino Pop seems way too dangerous. Whenever one is combining a spike, manual force, air compression, and glass, not to mention a possible inebriated user, no doubt trouble is soon to follow. Wonder how long it'll take until the lawsuits start rolling in?
Any oenophile would likely pass on this. I have the simple corkscrew with brace & levers that works just fine for my delicate hands.
P.S. I was nearly blushing with watching this demo; I suppose this is the equivalent to the infamous Shake Weight for women infomercial. This might get this video flagged and/or demonetized.
LOL
Was just about to buy this. I literally just put it back on the shelf! Thanks!
I recommend getting an electric wine opener. I got mine on Amazon for about 25 bucks and love it!. But I suppose these only work best on a real cork not a plastic one..
Just think, I was just about to order one of those. Not now! Thanks a million for the demo...
You'll really need the wine after using this product. The few times I've opened a bottle of wine when I have company, I spent less time & trouble using the corkscrew on my Swiss Army Knife.
The barefoot bubbly wine that your mom tried is made of nylon. I find those tend to be harder to remove from bottles than regular cork. That could have been a factor.
Here now because this is being marketed as Cork Genius now... Exact same product. I was doing some research to see if they really work.
I purchased one of these. There were no instructions with it so I was winging it. I could never get it to open a bottle. I have watched your video and will try one more time. thanks for this video.
this is cute but i would be fully embarrassed to ever pop this out during date night or whatever. it seems more of a hassle than a regular little opener.
I have one of my own and it works just fine with little to no effort. Could be an issue with a malfunctioning device or the bottle.
I got one of these called a Wine Zizz from Amazon for $9 and it's my favorite way to open wine. It's like every bottle is a champagne popping experience!
OMG! That is what I want my guests to see when I offer wine HAHAHAHA! I'm in stitches!!
Try a regular wine opener verses vino pop and time them.
This was soooooooo exciting to watch!!!! As I was watching I was thinking who I could give it as a Xmas gift to. Thanks for the review..
Would be interesting whether it'd work better on a natural cork.
Great job. Years ago (read, decades) there was a similar gadget that used compressed air. Unfortunately, some bottles exploded, taking away much of the appeal.
All the best.
holy crap!
LOL
I only had one bottle of wine with a plastic cork. Product did not work. Agree with your review. Is it that plastic corks are the issue? Thank-you!
Nice watch, and I love your black stainless appliances. Anywho, i have a regular Lever Corkscrew wine opener and it is the best Ive ever used, clamp it around the neck, push the lever down, pull it back up, and boom, wine open. I wonder if synthetic vs natural corks make a difference. My dad who is 84 uses the same lever corkscrew as me with no problems. Cheers!
I bought this and am currently 2 for 2 on FAILING. Don't know what to say. Both stoppers were made of cork but not difficult to extract at all with a cork screw opener - some corks can be very difficult. I too followed the directions and watched advertised videos. Funny, if you look closely at their commercial, the corks in some of their demos are already at least halfway out! AND, you can tell they're made of cork. Hmmmmmm.
This fails too much for me to keep it. Neat idea. I was excited to try it but not impressed with my experiences. I'm know it works in some cases but if I have to always keep an "ole faithful" opener around, then what's the point? Those NEVER fail.
By the way, when the corks never extracted, I too removed the needle and had red wine spit all over my counter.
Nice video. Thank you.
I like the idea but it seems too inconsistent when it works or doesn't.
Was the bottle kept horizontal or vertical? Think horizontal storage wets the cork and reduces friction, easier for pressure to push/pop. BTW, we found some pumps (different brands in Sydney weather) got nasty sticky body after some time. Using WD40 on linen to wipe will clean it off like new. Enjoy!
I saw a similar review and the person said that their instructions (different brand) said it didn't work on Champaign corks or the vinyl/synthetic corks. It appears the one your mom tried was a vinyl cork. Maybe that had something to do with it? I see the benefit for old bottles where the cork might break.
my vino pop broke the first time I used it. I held it like in the picture holding the bottom portion of the vino pop while pumping the handle 3 to 5 pumps and the pump stopped pumping air. I think it blew on of the seals or O-rings. I tried to take it apart to put the seal back in place, but could not disassemble beyond removing the top aluminum cap which does not allow me to reposition the silicone seal that got out place.
Thanks for the review. I decided to buy one for a Christmas gift based on your video. I'll send another comment after they try it out.
The cork screw wine openers I use take less than a minute to open
For someone (like me) who has a hard time pushing in a corkscrew, this woud work well for someone like me. If I were a wine drinker, I'd buy it!
I'm with your mom, now if they added a Co2 cartridge you would be all set. Pop wine bottles like crazy..
Then you would have to replace the cartridge, kinda defeats the purpose of this "manual" product.
I wanted one of these types of wine openers, but decided to pay a little more and buy the SUTMM brand. It worked the very first time I tried it, which was just today. It did not come with all the extra gadgets, but I already have those, so that's ok with me. I am hoping it will continue to behave and not embarass me in front of guests! They are definitely fun!
Had one similar to that one but was smaller and just popped the cork right out, never understood why they never crossed the pond till now
After a couple of bottles I might get the hang of it, or think I got the hang of it. Especially if I was wearing those binocular glasses ;-)
Hah so true!
I used fewer items to change the oil and spark plugs in my car. In operation, it vaguely reminds me of something else.
yeah moms comin over for drinks!!!
Does this work with rubber corks as well.?
I have one, and I never had the problem your having. It's always a few pumps and it's open.
Are the corks on the wine bottle real corks or plastic corks? These new corks are made of plastic and don't work the same with most devices.
guess you're having a party tonight, lol
how was your noon wine? hope you had a great time making this video cause i enjoyed watching it too!!!
Churning butter he says....
Could you try opening two bottles of Frontera Cabernet/Merlot. One with a regular corkscrew and the other with the Vino pop? PLEASE????
The air rater seems like a good way to avoid those drippy pours.
9:02 last cork pops out
I just reviewed this thing on my channel! It could not get it to work at all! Made for a funny meme worthy video thought! Love your channel Im a new sub!
i would say its the speed you pump the it at, the slower you pump it the more preasure, i dont think it has anything to do with holding the bottle or not
great tests!
Seems like it is easier on natural cork vs plastic foam corks...
Has the bottle ever exploded? Such a thing is possible
Omg this is so obscene! Lmao. JKJK....is that a headless doll on the floor?
Hah that's my dog Bailey's toy chicken that she tore the head off of months ago!
It's clearly in the instructions that a headless doll must be in the vicinity for the Voodoo VinoPop to operate properly.
i wonder if it works better with real cork vs the fake corks
7:15 third cork pops out
2:55 cork pops out
1:56
This is a kids show right 😂😂😂😂😂
That wine bottle needs a newport now
6:31 second cork pops out
You was holding the bottom of the plastic case thats what caused the cork not to come up
This episode sponsored by the playboy mansion 😂
Nice review man but I would be embarrassed to jerk that thing in front of ppl lol
Next time, could you try opening a bottle that has a real "cork" instead of a synthetic? Thanks.
Everyone get drunk!! Even bailey!! Lol
might have to get used of it
Pretty sure it said to pump rapidly
I'm 71 and a seasoned wine drinker. It worked fine for me?! 😂
It’s really meant for natural corks.
I don't open many wine bottles, but I was amazed by just how much easier a wing corkscrew made the entire job after having used the simple corkscrews on swiss army knives and the like and *hating* every experience when trying to open them for hours seemingly. But just not feeling the same way about this, heh.
Alice B I rarely drink, so using the corkscrew method is hard for me. A learning curve every time. I like the implement where you slide the longer thin piece of metal on one side all the way down, and with the shorter prong, it grips the cork, and all you have to do is turn the handle & it easily twists out.
It's called the Two Prong Cork Puller/Extractor. There's one on Amazon for $3.
The manufacturer of this product really does need to revise the instructions. I did the exact same thing as he did in this video, which is as it shows in the instructions. I thought it just didn't work and was a crap product. I was ready to send it back until I watched this video. Now I know the illustration in the instructions is not correct. Do not grasp the neck of the bottle as depicted in the photo.
Right! They show the hand incorrectly holding the device!
Try it on a 1.5 L bottle. Family size as my wife likes to call them.
Can't be used with plastic cork
Thank you for saving me money 💰
crap!! that made me jump!!
Good review
Thank you!
Mine suck! I am about to trash it because it doesnt work😔
Forget this, import your wine from Australia, we’ve made it easy for the alcoholics to get into their favourite bottle of plonk, most wine bottles here have screw tops like soft drink bottles
Steep learning curve for you! So much easier to use than you make it out to be though..
Too bad you didn't show how to get that vacuum sealer out. There are no instructions and I am having a heck of
a time.
This took too much out of me when I try it
Really? I brought one set yesterday 🙄😞😞😞
Bahaha. Oh James... This is BY FAR my favorite video 🤣 I can't quite get a GRIP on why. But it sure got me PUMPED. Really STROKED my imagination.
I'm sorry... 🤣
how is this easier?
I want wine
No, looks like too much of a hassle.
Do another bottle
This is very bad I ever had, I bought 3 for the Christmas gift, but I don't think I am going to give away, because it is not the way so easy to pop. I think at the end of the day I will but them in the trash can.
Use a wine glass not a cheap margarita one.
I got strong sexual vibes from watching you get assertive with this device 🤣🤣
White wine
It has failed more than it has worked for me. Cork comes out about 1/2 inch and that's it. I struggle to pull it out and just revert to the regular old corkscrew. Garbage.
Watching through a bunch of these over a single weekend I've noticed your family doesn't seem to enjoy the camera like you; Do they ever get annoyed when you are shooting footage?
It is not new my dad had one 50 years ago
I bought this and 30 minutes after still won't work. This wine opener sucks
I'm playing 1/2
Too much hassle.
Mine didn't work at all. We tried it on 5 different bottles and 3 of us attemptedd it. I ended up using my regular wine opener it was so much easier
Heart attack!!! 😕
It's cute but my wine opener is much easier to use. It's a knife 🤣 Party time🍷🍸🥂
Scary stuf
Looks ridiculous can you say REINVENT the wheel
Yes, you did it completely WRONG LOL
first attempt you pumped far to slow.
Second attempt you had a hole in the crock. NEVER remove the needle
nice fail item LOL
Is that a device to get your wife in the mood for a session of up and down motion? Kinda shake weight ish
...
theres so much wrong with this lmfao
It’s piece of junk. More trouble than bargain for. 👎
This is easily the most suggestive video I've seen yet.
But, opening wine isn't that hard?
