Years of discretion and planning were derailed all because it so happened that the same place they took Mason to be altered so happened had the man that wanted them more dead than anyone else. He'd be thinking just how did something so serious slip past any of them.

If he was alive in that game after this incident he would have simply sold the gas to Menendez.
if you look closely when mason say dragovich made him kill jfk, he replied confusedly "tried?", i think it implies that jfk assassination wasn't actually his doing let alone his plan, his only goal was using mason as a sleeper agent to deliver the code for the nova6 breakout in usa

Granted this comment is over a year old but I'm assuming Mason didn't go through with killing Kennedy bc with that high pitched noise/whine and him aiming the gun at the pres. It showed that was the attempted programming but unless treyarch used that to hint at the possibility of it happening I'd personally say they went with history but it's just a theory and like Adler killing bell, did that happen?

We are given a lot of hints throughout the story. Yet these are small hints that can be ignored. And even so, if they are picked by the player, it is just confusing. There are two examples, one would be that side characters never interacted with Reznov when he joined Mason in Vietnam. If he was alive they would have started questioning him right away, and as Woods said in BO2: "If it was him don't you think he would've stuck around? Maybe explain some shit?". Another example would be the rebirth mission of Mason. You can shoot Reznov all that you want, yet there will not be any message saying: "Friendly fire will not be tolerated!". Unlike vorkuta which will prompt its message of friendly fire. Even the enemies will shoot at you and only you but Reznov will not gain damage because he was never there. As soon you play the campaign for the second time, you will start noticing these small details that we missed, or you are going to make sense of them. There's a lot of foreshadowing within Mason's storyline (Not including BO3 and BO4 since it doesn't have a solid storyline referring to the BO1/BO2 storyline). CoD CW had references to the original BO storyline but was more like Adler's/Bell's storyline since we didn't play as Mason a lot of the time. Not forgetting the Multiplayer/Warzone continuing the events of the campaign focusing more on Adler's storyline.

The belt fell off before they hit the ground and they were able to get to cover, I’m assuming. Also, Reznov is dead (confirmed by Hudson, I doubt he’d say it if he didn’t know), otherwise he would’ve shown up already.
