My little boy, of this age, was absorbed in a game in my garden. I nipped into the house for a quick wee. When I got back, one minute later, he was gone! Fortunately I live on a quiet lane with no traffic, but I didn't know which way to start hunting. My first thought was the stream close to my house. No sign of him there, nor the road at the bottom of the lane. He had actually wandered all the way to the top of my lane, almost a quarter of a mile, while I was searching in the wrong places. This frightened me so much I NEVER let my small children out of my sight outdoors again. I couldn't believe how quickly my little boy had walked that distance.
The builder knocked him over with the earth mover. He told his colleague but they kept it quiet until the driver died a few years ago. His colleague then told everyone what happened. There are no conspiracies, thats what happened.
You never take your eyes off a 19 month old. A child of this age is too young to play outside without constant supervision and needs a pair of eyes on them at all times.
So true it's like the grandparents couldn't be bothered to look after him it was to much for them . This is when things happen when kids are left to get on with it
It's easy to judge a situation which we haven't been a part of. We don't know everything about this story. Young children disappear from sight in no time at all. With the best will in the world, we cannot watch them 100% of the time. Other things need our attention as well sometimes. Nobody is perfect.
Hold on. They realized a toddler was missing around 2 pm but didn’t start searching for him until the evening? WTF?!? Hella suspicious. The family is either guilty or stupid and criminally negligent in child care. I totally understand why police focused on them. How TF do you not call cops the instant you realize your toddler is missing?!
I live in greece and some years ago when the bulldozers driver died there was a story in the media that in his death bed he confessed that be accidentally killed the boy but the story was later categorically denied by his family and also the police
Why would the driver admit that he accidentally killed him on his death bed and then his parents denied that story later. How did they know. It sounds like he was telling the truth and he didn't want to go to jail until he was dying. These different stories like Madeline's death is so sad that these kids disappeared and never found. I have family in Greece I was born in Cyprus I never heard about this until now so sad.
This is mentioned in the video if you watch it fully, as the most accepted theory. It was a digger driver called Konstantinos Barkas, a digger operator, now deceased, who told his friend that Ben had died in an accident, and that Barkas had hidden the body in building waste. On 16 September police began a search for remains, in a different area from the one searched nearly four years earlier. ] Excavation work ended on 16 October. More than 800 tonnes of soil had been dug up, with any items of interest sent back to the UK for forensic analysis. DI Cousins said that one item which was found "close to an item dated to 1991" had been identified by the Needham family as being in Ben's possession at the time he went missing. Cousins said: "My team and I know that machinery, including a large digger, was used to clear an area of land on 24 July 1991, behind the farmhouse that was being renovated by the Needhams. It is my professional belief that Ben Needham died as a result of an accident near the farmhouse in Iraklis where he was last seen playing. The recovery of this item, and its location, further adds to my belief that material was removed from the farmhouse on or shortly after the day that Ben disappeared."
I'll never forget little Ben missing all those years ago now. It was just heartbreaking for the family. Its so sad there was never proper closure one way or another. I think it was a building site accident.
Ben should never have been in the area he went missing from, period. Contrary to what most sources say regarding the story, the Needhams didn't own the farmhouse being renovated, it was actually a derelict building that Ben's grandfather was helping to renovate with the land owner. Ben's grandmother brought him to the location for a suprise visit. However, the whole area was surrounded by heaps of dirt, gravel, building equipment was everywhere and there wasn't even a road paving as the area was being developed for new property. Therefore, it wasn't as 'safe' as the story often suggests and the digger was very close to the Needhams, so it blows my mind that they thought letting a toddler run around in such an area was safe or that Ben could've been abducted from the location. One documentary on this case even states that the digger driver told the family that their grandson was taken by gypsies, which the family believed for years, clearly he was trying to put them off his scent and using the gypsies as a convenient scapegoat. EDIT: Never take your kid anywhere near a building site. I'm so sorry Ben.
Yes and they didn't lose sight of him for "a few minutes", nobody physically saw Ben for well over an hour before they noticed he wasn't playing on the building site.

I travelled to a Greek island with my little son who was like 1,5 years old at that time,in the 90's. My mother was with us. One day we were outside our hotel, wich was a small house. I realized I forgot something in the room, my mom was about 10m from me and my son, I said out loud "oh I need to go back up and grab something" and I hurried up the steps. I came down about two minutes later, saw my mom and looked around for my son. I asked my mom where he was, and she said oh he followed you to the stairs, I thought you took him with you up? I said no, I called out to you that I'm going up, I assumed you'd look after him? My mom had never heard me call out to her, since there was a road with traffic nearby...we both panicked and started calling him and I told my mom to stand still while I first run up the stairs, then down, then around the hotel, and there he was standing behind the hotel, in the middle of some rosebushes, crying for me! I realized how lucky we were and we decided to never again assume that the other one heard, we decided to demand an answer from the other one if one of us had to go somewhere or popped into a shop or whatever.
So sad just like Madeline's disappearince these poor kids havent been found. The driver sounds like he killed him accidentally or otherwise he admitted to it on his death bed he probably didn't want to go to jail. Just like in Madelines disappearance the parents are at fault that construction site was not safe for a child that small and he was playing there alone. I hope they investigated the parents, the workers and anyone else near that area. Unfortunately its been so long for both of these children that disappeared its so sad poor kids.
I feel like even if true, the construction worker should not be held accountable in any way. A toddler has no business being allowed to roam free in an environment like that. I take better care of my dog than these people did their child.
What about Ben's biological father? did he go to Greece with the family? if not, what were his movements around the time of the lad's disappearance? Was he in the U.K. or in Greece at that time?
Ya he wasn’t taken. Something happened to him just like the Australian boy that was visiting his grandma’s house. I can’t think of his name but bad things just did a video on him as well. No one kidnapped either one of these boys. They are unfortunately not alive anymore. And I’m sure both were accidents.
Even on this day 2024, doesn't worth calling police for anything, a lady was getting threats from her ex and police just said if you like just come over to file a lawsuit. A taxi or friend brought her there but the ex had followed her and killed her outside the police station!
I think that bit about Kate McCann contacting Kerry is incorrect. Ben disappeared in 1991 and Madeleine in 2007. Kate and Kerry have been "in contact" in the 2010s when Kerry was trying to get finding Ben the same attention Madeleine's case had. It wasn't necessarily amicable communication between them. This video makes it seem Kate contacted Kerry in the 1990s when surely that wasn't the case.
They should never of let Ben play outside on his own omg wtf is wrong with people he's a baby he should never of been unsupervised the grandparents were incompetent it's there fault & Maddie's parents are sexual predators, she was murdered by the man who took her, the parents should of paid for a babysitter it's there fault Maddie's gone they were to busy getting drunk I have no sympathy for her parents only Maddie.
I don't know what they mean about cultural differences, many Greek grandparents look after their grandchildren and allow them to play outside while the parents work.
This child never had the same media attention or police attention has Madeline mcann did It’s as if he wasn’t important enough Remember this well at the time God love him where ever he is 🙏🙏🙏

It seems to me very likely this was an awful accident, which happened in a very unsafe place for a toddler, with a possible cover-up by somebody who felt themselves responsible upon finding his body. If I were to guess I'd say the poor boy wandered off and got fatally injured on some equipment (spades, saws, shovels etc). Digger theory makes sense too. This being a small island it seems possible whoever did this panicked and disposed of his body at sea, where it will never be found. But as always in such cases, hope endures. Tragic.
So Madeline's mother contacted them 16 years after? Don't think that's very related to the investigation.
Accident or abduction by an opportunistic child predator. So many cases of missing kids occur while the families are on holiday.
He was in Greece and as far as I remember he was working like Kerry was.
@@jeannettescott1762 Actually no, he had left Greece a couple of days before Ben went missing as there was no work for him on Kos.
No abduction. Sadly, I think an accident .
I think so too 😢
Ya he wasn’t taken. Something happened to him just like the Australian boy that was visiting his grandma’s house. I can’t think of his name but bad things just did a video on him as well. No one kidnapped either one of these boys. They are unfortunately not alive anymore. And I’m sure both were accidents.
@@Trev-jz6yw Oh of course, William Tyrell? So sad and a very similar situation. The poor grandparents, I can’t even imagine the never ending horror 😔
@CarmelNicoleBeauty William was taken his foster mom did it.
@@Jess_T44that’s just beyond absurd, there would be heeps of evidence and witnesses if that was the case
You should do what most likely happened to Sandra Hughes next
This child never had the same media attention or police attention has Madeline mcann did
It’s as if he wasn’t important enough
Remember this well at the time
God love him where ever he is 🙏🙏🙏
Still wonder why this sad case has not had the same attention, and money as Mcann
Exactly
trafficked
The McCanns are wealthy doctors. Had they been less wealthy, they would have been arrested on the spot. But their money and influence have kept them out a prison, and the police on a wild goose chase for a non-existent "kidnapper"
This case did happened in 1991 it was a different time period pr try sure this was also go all over the whole news and in news papers it was the time everyone was buy a news paper daily
Such ignorance. Ben's story has been in the UK media regularly since he went missing.
Does anyone else remember when that little girl with blonde hair was found in a roma town and it lead to police in ireland taking little roma children away from their families and doing blood tests because they assumed they were abducted and they all turned out to be roma kids with blonde hair living with their biological families ? And the original girl was a roma girl from bulgaria whos parents couldnt afford to take her home so gave her to the family she was found with? The Needhams have said they think he was abducted by a roma family as well. The 1990s was crazy for the level of anti roma beliefs and it partly stemmed from this case
my niece was nearly abducted from Spain back in the 90's when my brother was on holiday there guess what all these kids have in common blonde hair blue eyes
Wonder. D when you were going to get round to Ben. Poor mum and dad
Don't take your baby brother for a ride on a moped.
Compare the attention to the case with the Maddie one!
Greece being McCanned
Like maddie they must regret leaving ben everyday of their lives if only , if only haven't they all suffered enough ?
Those people look creepy. No smiles.
Didn't the uncle kill him in his motorbike? Programme showed him admitting it under hypnosis.
I'm from Greece, and no, we do not abduct children here. The gypsy story it's however a possibility. They'll do anything for money. Yet, the involvement of the construction worker seems to be the most probable. So sorry for the little boy and his family.
How can you speak for the entire country saying “we don’t abduct children here”? Maybe you haven’t. But you have no idea what others are capable of
@@ChristinasCure I can because we have television, the Internet,, info, and records. It may come as a surprise to you but we don't actually live in caves. No there are no abductions here, I do not remember even one, and I am 6O years old. We have crime, but this is quite a safe country. I don't know where you come from but if you are from America or any other country with a huge crime rate, then there is not much to discuss, is there???
@@funnystuffonlylm8201I can, for a fact, tell you Greece people DO in fact abduct children. I’d appreciate if you weren’t so blatantly rac!st, every country on earth children get abducted and Greece has its own famous stories about the topic (this one and I believe 1-2 more off the top of my head) however in this case it was pure negligence, not an abduction, the grandparents need to be charged even if it was an accident caused by workers, you don’t EVER let a child near/in a construction site/zone LET ALONE not watch him at all or care?
@@dallas2586 I agree it was negligence. Maybe because Greek parents are overprotective of their children as far as I know we do not get cases like this, except to my knowledge, this one here. We live in a matriarch society where mothers rule and keep a very close eye on their children, the entire family does, even when they are all grown up and have their own lives. It's wrong of course. Too much protection on our part. And too little on the part of the guardians of this poor child.
@@funnystuffonlylm8201 a 3 second google search and i found a shitton of articles about abduction of children in Greece in fact there seems to be way more child abductions in Greece then in other country's. why would you lie about such an easy to research thing?
I wonder what the letter from Mrs McCann was saying ?
Unless there is conclusive evidence it’s useless to speculate about what most likely happened. It remains unsolved.
Kate McCann daughter was many years after this so that part is so wrong to be put into this story..
I wish they could solve this mystery
Start looking to the family for the truth, God sees everything.
Looks like the Police are right once again. I share their beliefs and the boy died there.

The family dynamic was warm and loving yet they all look miserable in their family photos 🙃
The photographs shown are AFTER Ben went missing. Do you expect them to be whooping for joy 🤨

I didn't know the brother was a suspect. Poor kid. I don't blame the police for looking at the family first though. I always felt sorry for the accusations made against Ben's Mum. Still, it does seem likely that he was killed on the building site. Kids that age can move fast and chances are the machine operators wouldn't see him. I wish they could find a body, to give the family some peace.
What was the grandparents doing while the 2 year old was outside
Good video, terrible flat unfeeling narration.
Why the shitty music???
Never leave ur kids with its grandparents... they're useless.
Troll alert. AH to boot. Thousands of grandparents look after kids while parents work not to mention those with custody.
Kerry was 17 and Simon was 21 when Ben was born? Can you say statutory rape?
No age of consent in the UK is 16
lots of teenage Mothers esp in the decades gone. No big deal, like today.
@@ExoticDoll-ct3ud It's not giving birth that makes it stat rape. It's when someone over the age of 18 sleeps with someone under the age of 18, consensually or not.

Unfortunately no but he's disgusting
It seems to me very likely this was an awful accident, which happened in a very unsafe place for a toddler, with a possible cover-up by somebody who felt themselves responsible upon finding his body. If I were to guess I'd say the poor boy wandered off and got fatally injured on some equipment (spades, saws, shovels etc). Digger theory makes sense too. This being a small island it seems possible whoever did this panicked and disposed of his body at sea, where it will never be found. But as always in such cases, hope endures. Tragic. I'm not going to leave comments judging the parents, I'd imagine they've been tortured by their decisions for years and my heart breaks for their situation.
