Scotch-Lok UY2’s are the orange wire connectors. We use them in telecom for damp environments and polymer insulated conductors. They make non-gel filled ones also for pulp-insulated conductors…. Great video!
Thanks for the helpful video. One question though, what do you do when a blowup only has one light? Or, when you are at the end of the chain of lights? What do you do with the wires coming out of the other side of the replacement LED light?
Thank you for your tutorial. I struggle with these inflatbles. The lights don't last, or they are too dim. Hi. Thank you for the video. I just changed the lights on my chuky inflatable but my Mickey Mouse one has only one light with just two wires on only one side of the led light. How can I connect this one?
Thank you! Mine worked great on the lower one, but for some reason the top one did not work. Since it only had wires on one side I just capped the wires on the other side of the light. Is there a trick for the ones at the top that only have wires on one side?
Is there somewhere to find the caps if they are brittle and it breaks when you try to take an led loose to replace it? I have had great luck because of your video and my decorations are beautiful, but now I have a broken cap. Any suggestions will be appreciated
I have the same issue. One of mine was a cheap no name though overall good quality but the led snaps weren't made to be removed. Trying to find a solution. Sewing snaps seem to be about it.
@@michaell276 Replacing the lights worked great following this video. Watching some of the others were crazy. If I can do this, anyone can, but on the last one, that stupid cap shattered and it is at the top, so now I don't know what to do.
The butt connectors are also called "scotchlocks", the are for connecting phone wires. I saw them at Lowe's near the phone and tv wire section. On my display, the power regulator module got wet and fried. I saw the flicker module has a 25v capacitor. I reasoned the regulator must have put out about 18volts. I tried 12v but it was very dim so i wired an 18v supply from junked modem. I felt it was a bit too much so I added a 10 ohm power resistor at the 18v output to help limit current. There are lots of different light options on these. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! Just need to clarify: red and black don't always go together. My 12ft Santa inflatable had the black wire as the negative; the LED light red wire was the positive. Wasted 13 of those butt clamps before I realized the polarity was different. 😅
Sorry for dumb question, but these butt connectors are for one light and terminate? Or is there some way to still use butt connectors with a string on 6 lights?
I already thought of that. I just bought a Yukon Cornelius blowup, and I don't like the lights that came with it. Thanks for the comment! Happy Holidays!
This recommendation is the best I found but I have a question. 2 of the 4 replacement LED lights work. The 3rd doesn’t and the 4th the wires stop on the other side. How do I close off the end of the wire from the LED strip?
Not exactly sure what you mean. But the last one will.have wires on the other side... just wrap them.up in electrical tape. The 3rd one maybe has loose wires, try connecting them again.
Ok so you replaced all four leds? The one that isnt working, 3rd? is likely defective if the 4th in the series is working. Replace the 3rd set again. To terminate the wires on the 4th (last) use the hot glue to seal them and prevent grounding out from touch or water. That's how I seal all my connections.
If the 3rd and 4th aren't working, then the issue is likely that you have a bad connection either leaving led 2 or entering led 3. Or that piece of wire is bad. Ignore the butt connectors. Just strip the ends around 1/2 inch and twist them together. Make sure to match the wire with the stripes. Then use hot glue to seal them up.
Do you have a inflatable with light bulbs in them c7 I believe my light cord is attached a different way The cord must have fell and most lights are in the bottom

Do all inflatables have the same led lights? How do I determine which lights to purchase? Or can I use any? Can I also add more lights or brighter lights?
The old LEDs were a single light. The ones I used had 3 small LEDs in one strip. It's a lot brighter. I put a link to the lights in the description of the video. I've been getting great feedback from people who have tried it.
Will adding say 2 3leds 5630's at 0.72 watts each 3 light strand need a separate power supply? How about if I'm replacing 6 lights in 1 inflatable - I have a inflatable that looks like C9 strand of 6 colored lights.
When replacing only one led light, the original light only has one set of wires. So you connect one end of the light wires to the existing wires, but what do you do with the wires at the other end of the replacement light?
If you buy the correct replacement lights, it will work. They are meant to work when they are cut from the strip. I put electrical tape around the other end or the liquid tape I have.
