The JCB's bassoon concert in Eb major is more widely known and performed, but this one seems to me of wider and deeper conception.
Ward performing is superlative!!! The late XVIII c. bassoon at its best for sound, technique and phrasing.
Thank you so much for sharing!

JCB's bassoon concerto in Eb is barley known on its own. I'm a bassoonist and about 90% bassoonist I've asked have never heard of it.

It's interesting to compare the two J.C. Bach bassoon concertos with Mozart's only example, KV. 191. The Mozart was written in 1774. I can't find a year date for either of the J.C. Bach bassoon concertos, but from what I know of J.C. Bach's stylistic development, I think his were written in the early 1770s. Here's the Mozart which, as with this performance, has an excellent 18th century bassoonist backed by an excellent 18th century band (Anima Eterna): ruclips.net/video/JJHDJVi1v9M/видео.html . Enjoy!

    J.Cバッハさんらしいメロディーラインで通奏低音入り、ファゴットに一番合う変ロ長調。
    言うことなしですね。

Who is the picture of ? Gainsborough work? Thanks for this fine bassoon or fagotto concerto.

As you guessed, it is indeed a Gainsborough. This is the portrait of Mrs. Sarah Siddons painted in 1785.
