Belive me, film did not vilify Gandhiji, facts were shown as it were documemted....and not the overhyped version we were tought...in a nutshell, it showcased mohandas gandhi, not mahatma
It's a movie trying to capitalise on national feeling of indian people
Be it politicians, corporates or now film producers

I agree, this host know nothing and read nothing. The film did no injustice to Gandhi but portrayed Gandhi what he is and how Savarkar see him, not the hyperversion jiogoist version of him portrayed by Congress . He need to read and learn about Gandhi and his truth in his own words expressed before passing sweeping statement about him without knowing zilch about him.
To conclude if Gandhi was right or wrong. There are several first hand information about his mindset from his own speeches and writing itself
1. His article written in his own newspaper 'Harijan'
2. The speeches he gave in various prayer meeting by him over the years and at different places.
3. The article written by him in the magazine he used to publish "Young India"
4. The autobiography of him in his own words about his deeds in "My experiment with the Truth"
5. Collected Works Of Mahatma Gandhi published by Publication Division IB Ministry GOI website.
Last comes the opinion of other contempary leaders like BR Ambedkar of his time. After assignation of Gandhi, he wrote a letter to his wife Savitri Ambedkar (Feb 8, 1948). In that letter he mentioned "While he regrets the assignation of Gandhi.... Gandhi had become a positive danger to country... I think that good will come out of the death of Mr Gandhi"

Film does not vilify Gandhi ji. He did all this & it is well documented. It is you who needs to read about him. It was a very amazing film I'll urge everyone to go and watch it

We know that British left box of that quit India what happened in those 5 years … Gandhi was the tool through which British controlled Indian masses…. One of the best biopic movies(worldwide ) I have seen and I have seen a lot …it just need historically aware audiences, Sawarkar ji in true sense Morden times Shivaji maharaj

Him and Gandhi's ideologies were exact opposites of eachother
its obvious That Gandhi will be shown in somewhat Negative light in this movie (just like Gandhi would be a Good guy in any Gandhi movie)
And the Good thing about this film is that it's not trying to artificially balance thing to not "hurt" anyone's sentiments
Its straight to the point and unapologetic.
So just because this is a film, it doesn't have to be balanced.

The movie has a point of view which is different from the old narrative. It is based on facts. Randeep hooda is brilliant as an actor & I am surprised by his amazing direction.

Well i have also watched this movie we should be very clear that ideology wise Gandhi and Savarkar was quite opposite to each other and movie on Savarkar is his perception he will See Gandhi as of Negetive

Also brother film is not vilifying Gandhi. I don't understand why they see one character in isolation. They both met few times and it is important to show views of other freedom fighters too and Gandhi's own thoughts which were at times very nasty. He was even criticized by Ambedkar, SCB, Nehru and other. So it is important to show these things.

Yes swatantra veer savarkar did not did not put a balanced view about ideologies ... and that was needed .. as it was the same freedom story told from savarkar's point of view ... that's what was promised in the trailer...they did not promise to have a balanced discussion on political ideology...else it would have become a political film ... if you read savarkar's books and essays you'd come across how much differences he and gandhi had ... that's why in parliament also gandhi and savarkar portraits are placed right opposite to each other both staring @ each other ... the film gave what it promised ... and that is to see the freedom struggle story from savarkar's point of view (armed struggle not nonviolence) ... though I do agree many aspects of his life like he being an atheist etc. were still missing in that 3hr long movie
Why do we need to monkey balance ..?? Does the thousands of movies made on portraying Gandhi as Mahatma try to balance on the views of other great freedom fighters and reformers of that time.
Even if some great leader of time is given any credit their views opposing to Gandhi are in fact being completely erased.eg are Rabindrabath Tagore , Patel , Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, Sarojini Naidu , Swami Shraddhanand.
Imagine being in the life imprisonment for freedom revolution, having lost your child and other family members dying while you are getting tortured in jail and seeing gandhi and jinnah breaking the country in two based on religion and still getting blamed as maafiveer.

I think we should support movies like Veer Savarkar It tells us about a maligned chapter of our freedom struggle. It reminds me of a famous African proverb. " Until the lion learns how to write, every story /history will always be written from the hunters point of view and will glorify the hunter."

The problem with most biopics made in India is that they always try to show the person as good and reasonable without showing the bad shades that he/she had.
Be it about a left wing or right politician or even a cricketer, the film will always try to show him/her in a positive light.
There hasn't been a single biopic produced in Bollywood that has shown all sides of the person.
I can bet they haven’t seen Savarkar
Protagonist by definition is someone the story sympathizes with because it is his/her journey. That's why in a movie about Savarkar, he will be shown as a hero, and those opposing him would be antihero or villain. This is basic storytelling. Swatantra Veer Savarkar is a masterclass in historic movies as it doesn't try to monkey balance, it is bluntly honest.
Gandhi ji ka sabase accurate represtation tha film mai it is based on his own writing ( for context go read his articles in newspaper and his letter )

There are several films on Gandhi ji never seen any film where the creator critisizes Sarvarkar ji and you pick any film on Sarvarkar ji you will see something against Gandhi ji. That's not an actual representation dude. That is forcing a ideology. People nowadays think that man Gandhi has not done anything for the nation. Seriously. Forget about India, the world knows Gandhi ji that too for his positive worls towards humankind. Why? Because he has done contributions.

Savarkar was not a flawed character. May be you should go and read the correct history. For all these years bollywood has been pedling propaganda. All other characters have been propagated as model of virtues all these years. A lot of money has been peddled for creating a brand named gandhi. At least films like veer savarkar, kashmir files, bastar, Kerala story has been bringing out the truth. So, please go and read correct history first. Not the ones propagated by left ecosystem.

I love your approach for doing a film review .You have previously spoken that your favourite genre is drama .Which is fine because everyone have their own preferences.And you don't enjoy Fantasy films much .For me , it's also okay.Me personally don't like coming of age films , erotic genre too but Eyes Wide Shut and American Beauty is two of my favourite cinema. So I request you to do a review about Lord of the rings Trilogy.This films are too close to my heart.So I want to know about your opinion on this Trilogy and why this films is an achievement in filmmaking.

I saw both movies over the weekend. While Madgaon express is a total entertainer that keeps viewers hooked, Swatantra Veer Savarkar is a deep dive into the struggle for independence from a non-Gandhi perspective. It doesn’t make anyone a villain. Facts shown in the movie have been widely available in public domain. Instead, the issue is that for generations we have been told that we gained independence only due to one man, hence anything new is either disregarded or labelled propaganda.

When the character of Divyendu DODO says "main RAW ka ek secret agent hun".... my theatre erupted with laughter everyone was expecting an emotional beat or a monologue instead got this hilarious line....best example of unpredictable comedy

In my opinion it’s about how much struggle showed by our freedom fighters to gain independence that we all should respect their hard work
tough their ideologies were different
In movie he also said that why gandhi ji didn’t have security at the time of assassination ,
because gandhi ji think that all the people will think like him (non violence)
but every person had different ideologies that no one can predict
as we all know independence was not gain by one single ideology it’s all contribution of many ideologies by our freedom fighters
I think Madgaon express is a remake of one of the HANGOVER movies 😅I remember watching something similar story
