I remember seeing the promo for this particular season and getting so excited when I saw latavia would be on! I couldn’t wait to hear her sing! We all know bey, kelly, latoya and Michelle can sing (no disrespect to Farrah but I don’t really count her since she was only in the group for three seconds), but I never got to hear latavia and I wanted to because in DC she carried that bottom note so beautifully, she could’ve easily been the Toni Braxton of my generation. I wish she would have agreed to a storyline of us seeing her rebuild herself musically. Taking vocal lessons, free styling with the ladies, overcoming her scars of being kicked out of destiny’s child only to emerge in the final episode singing that beautiful song by Mo at the one night only concert, literally re-introducing herself to the world as a beautiful solo artist about to kill the game. But instead we got this....
I think people forget how trauma from different things in life can impact people. She sung on the first episode, but it wasn’t forced. She didn’t go in (which she mentioned in interviews) thinking she HAD to sing. She didn’t want to be forced to do something she hadn’t done or wasn’t sure she wanted to do again in the public eye. She was approached twice about it and JUST had her baby. She had told her story on so many platforms now. The women wanted her to sing because they all knew her, they knew what she could do but she just wasn’t ready yet. The One Night Only was introduced after she agreed to the show and started recording. I’m sure If she knew from beginning she would have said no, because she wasn’t ready yet. Buuut you can hear her singing on songs by Anjel if you look it up or different clips after this time.
