For gods sakes, 8,000 dollars? Hifi is so upside down. What’s even more of a let down are companies and influencers propagating the brands without pushing back on these prices.
Well, it is a Mac after all. It makes sense because it’s a streaming integrated. I look at it as paying 4k for an amp, 3.5k for a pre, and 1,500 for a streamer but just all in one package. Everything you buy comes at a scale. How is this any different from spending 1300 for an iPhone vs. $400 for an android phone? An Audi RSQ8 vs a Honda CRV? A Rolex vs. a Timex? If this Macintosh isn’t to your liking, then perhaps an audio lab 7000n is better suited. However, if you want McIntosh, you have to pay to play. We all have Porsche dreams at Pontiac prices..but let be real here.
Now that Bose owns McIntosh, I’m hoping for better digital tech, better eARC functionality, and better class D/digital amplification for lighter and smaller devices. I think this is a really nice piece ❤!!!
Man!!! $8k!?!?! I'm low budget maybe $1k. I'd love to hear somethinbg on this level but Those places are like bespoke jewlery shops where you get buzzed in or they just look at you through the door.
McIntosh comes with a premium price! There are other more affordable options though. If you need help and want to stay in that budget, reach out to our team of experts at audioadvice.com to see if they can help you find whats best for you!

What a gorgeous unit! My dream amplifier, for sure.
Great video. I think this will be a popular amp for customers wanting an all-in-one streaming solution with excellent sound.
Thanks!
8grand for 100 watts. Yeah I dont think so.
Cant wait to hear it!! Great video!!!!
Thanks. We hope you like it.
Wow! Extremely comprehensive review, great work!

$8,000!!! There are much better alternatives with that I'm not saying that you shouldn't buy from audio advice.
Hand made in the US by American workers, paid a fair wage, high quality production, as much as it’s expensive, it is what things cost done that way.
@@braydonscully4646You have Plenty of European companies that don't charge this much.

For something made by hand in the USA, built to last decades, we think it’s a fair price.
This is a beautiful piece with lots of convenient features.
Yes it is! Thanks for sharing
I love the McIntosh design language!
Yes, it is classic and timeless.
Well, I can dream, can't I?
Yes you can!

Basically a MS5300 with built in streamer, DA2 module, and sub out for $2k more? I'll stick with my 5300 and an external streamer.
Fair enough! This will be for someone who wants it all in one box. The 5300 is a great unit!
@@AudioAdvice Great review nonetheless!
that’s great ! even 8K price tag but Made in USA 👍🏻
Yes! It is a very impressive piece. Thanks for watching
I want to get one - even at those astronomical prices.
We will be here when you are ready. Thanks for watching
Solid video, if you wear a steel watch again while reviewing a $8k amp again I’m reporting you to the hifi gods. 😂
Haha! Glad you liked it
What DAC is in it??
Mcintosh doesn't seem to disclose this info. But MSA5500 has a DA2 module which according to the forums has a ESS Sabre 9028pro chip.
They do not specify. Thanks for watching
Why no Qobuz? It’s a weird exclusion. The Advance Paris A7 supports Qobuz, has a similar aesthetic and sound signature.
If you are a Roon user that works or use Chromecast. Thanks for watching
Can this drive Magnepan LRS speakers comfortably?
Yes, it should do well with those. For the bigger Maggies we might recommend more, but it will be a good match for the LRS.
No eARC, but I suppose it doesn't matter with two channels. I would like to have seen FM in it.
That is right. You can always stream internet radio. Thanks for watching

McIntosh is by no means inexpensive but it is hand made in the USA and built to last decades while sounding incredible.
