MY FRIEND this is the single most helpful golf video I've seen. Getting older, I've been splaying my feet naturally and playing military golf (left, right, left, right), constantly being told I'm aimed right or left. Took this out to the course today and....straight as a string. Thank you and subscribed!
I've been playing golf for 50 years! I was taught to flare left foot slightly down target line and turn right foot slightly inward on same line! This immediately improved my proper target alignment and eliminated over body rotation.
Great points…flaring toes out helps hips, torso on us older golfers…..viewing heel line is more accurate than toe line to target….will try it next round, thx!
I have been in my own head about lining shots up with my feet. Obsessed with fidgeting because of it. No videos on it except for this one either. Something I think most teachers take for granted and do not explain to amateurs. This was very relieving to watch.
Absolutely brilliant advice mate especially for those struggling to get the club to pass their body on the left Years of poor understanding have led to some serious injuries I wish I had flared feet from day dot. It unlocks the hip joints, takes pressure off the lower spine and also can give you a visual aid for shoulder path and club face 🙏🏼 Besides most importantly lining you up on intended target giving you a better chance to execute the proposed task

Great video as always. I've never picked intermediate point in front of the golf ball to target, intermediate point 1m behind the golf ball so as my chest is facing ball and imaginary line front of me. I am generally correctly aligned Parallel to target.
Thank you mate, you talked to me…😄 Got just that problem,I’m 62 and rather stiff in my hips. So I use to turn left foot a bit out for getting my body out of the way. And shot left…
Thanks Alex for this interesting concept. Definitely i am going to try this. Just to confirm from you the angle of foot. Right one should be 25 to 30 degree and left foot should be 45 degree flared. Is is ok?
Could do. Just never thought it’s that beneficial. It’s about how you are to translate it to your game not how my demo shot went. But maybe I will. They generally go where I want lol
Interesting. I usually align my toes and shoulders. First then move my toes. But I do agree I do sometimes fidget afterwards. So I learned something today. Thank you and cheers from Vancouver Island Canada
I assume I do this for sure so great advice. Related, I have found I have this issue for ball placement. Because I flare my left foot for that turn I often preset it that way which causes me to have the ball too far forward.
ya ok, but everyone is different an we have to do what is best for us. If i line up straight to target at 90yds shot im hitting to left by 30 feet. I have to line up what seems to be 10 to 15ft to right of the pin to be smack ish on. But I will see an focus today on heel placement an see if that is whats going on.
I was told aiming your shoulders changed the the shot curve that you're trying to hit. Left for a fade, Rt for a draw. 🤷♂️ But as the old saying goes, there's many different ways to skin a cat.
None of it matters. If I aimed like train tracks incorrectly and missed a 100-yard shot by the 2 feet between my heels and my ball, I'd be super happy with it. The difference between the train tracks and aiming directly at the target when the target is 100 yards away is moving your lead foot (and the rest of your alignment with it) about a 1/4 inch if you do the geometry. Maybe the best advice is to simply stand behind the ball and pick something a few feet in front of the ball as an intermediate target when you then address the ball.
The intermediate point is crucial and I talk about it a lot in lessons and videos. But this is a lightbulb moment for many to see how they can get body alignment off
Couple of observations with this lesson. (1) Wouldn't it be easier to flare the toes out an equal amount? (2) I like to bring right foot back slightly so heal alignment will not work for me.
How can you check correct alignment with heels looking from front. Absurd logic. Opening toes may change alignment but not if both toes are opened equally.
I’m not convinced this is true. Most players set the club face up to target first, then set the body in relation to it. So if the club face is square to target, this nonsense with the feet becomes irrelevant anyway.
Used the heel method today on the course. Hit some of the best on target shots I've hit in a long time. Multiple birdie chances. Thanks. 👏👏👏
That’s wonderful to hear well done and thank you for letting us know. 💪🏌️♂️

This is so different and exciting I just can’t wait to give it a go Alex 👍🏾
Great let us know it goes
Great info. Never looked at my heals and this is a great thing I will try this week at the range.
Let us know how it goes 🏌️♂️👍
Great tip I do this not looking at the heel. Ta it may be simple but you nailed it Art
Glad it was helpful!
The tip to flare the toes out is great, I can see where it will help to get hip’s towards the target. Great tip!!
It benefits most 👍🏌️♂️

Yep! Let us know how it goes

Seriously. This is a gamechanger for me.

This should help a lot then 👍🏌️♂️💪
Make sense Thank you.
Good to hear.
Great video
@theartofsimplegolf great hint with the heals - logic in itself
👍🏌️♂️💪
Menutia! It's where your follow thru is focused just as you do with putting regardless of where your toes are.
So heels should be exactly at the target or a bit Left of the target? Thanks. Love your vids!
Thank you mate, you talked to me…😄

Glad to hear it nudged you in the right direction. Thanks for sharing 🏌️♂️👍
What are your thoughts on the Jim Venetos theory of the closed stance and stillness?
I can't speak of it really... this does a fair amount of similar without being extreme... ruclips.net/video/-YxflXR7-Dw/видео.html
Smart!!
🏌️♂️👍
Im gonna try it

Hey Alex appreciate your Contents….how come we dont see your Shots with a Trackman line….would be great if we all could see your ballflight…thx JR

Hi 👋 Hope this helps your routine
What if you don’t flare toes at first at set up to get aim then flair when ready
Yes that can work but heels are still a better representation
I assume I do this for sure so great advice. Related, I have found I have this issue for ball placement. Because I flare my left foot for that turn I often preset it that way which causes me to have the ball too far forward.
Too common. Practice with check points and be vigilant. Tour pros check and monitor basics almost daily

Not every lesson can be applicable for everyone all the time. It’s an awareness is all for many too
Very interesting. I will give this a go.
Please do!
never really thought about the heels
It's a little trick that helps many
Actually, I try to aim my shoulders to an area. It can be the flag or any spot on the course. Maybe I'm wrong?
Shoulders can be used but need to check if you’re calibrated correctly as it were

It can help yes
to deal with this, i always align square, then when I'm ready i flare last minute. helped me a ton
I align my hips with the target. Works for me because sometimes your feet will compensate a shift to slopes even during the swing for balance
I hit a hole in one the day after watching this video!!
This blokes a goose.
best is to just take a practice shot and look at the line in the grass u just made
🏌️♂️⛳️👍
I don't do this! yay im in the 5%
🏌️♂️😂👍
I tried on the course to allign with the heels........it is a joke, no comments😅
How can you check correct alignment with heels looking from front. Absurd logic. Opening toes may change alignment but not if both toes are opened equally.
7 minutes to explain a simple concept. It may be worth the try, but keeping the video to no more than 5 minutes will keep your audience interested.
🏌️♂️👍
Some of us haven't seen our toes in some time 😂😅😢

Should have been a 4 minute video
