It is funny how many russian movies are about rich people's unhappy life. It is obvious money is not main thing in life, but this seems to be (not only in Russia) a very simple mechanism to brain wash population and make everybody to consider how lucky they are for not having good money. I do not have too much, but am sure would not be so unhappy if having plenty.
No, it’s not about “brainwashing the population.” It’s about showing to the people that having money or no money won’t guarantee a happy marriage. The Westerners are the ones who see things through their brainwashing
Excellent movie. No english subtitles as promised, but russian - not autogenerated I believe, which makes them useful for someone who knows russian enough to get the plot.
The couple were either going to kill one of the other, the greedy wife, and take half his money. She bore a grudge for their child loss. Strike two, not his fault. He realizes too late she hates him. I had to see if the relative was playing, praying, or preying. The mouse at work? Not saying.
I dig the vibe, the plot and all, but why is the acting so dry? So disconnected..no chemistry between the characters! Like I said, I feel the plot behind the idea,just not connecting to the people ,playing these roles! I'm quite disappointed, since Russian theater is simply great! It's the best!
What I perceive is such... She came from that town, probably lied that she's a niece with some fake background or such, besides there's no one to prove her as niece as her parents are dead. Became a maid and lived in their house just to get them killed and owning their possessions. The driver came from the same town got a job, and probably has the same ambition as hers....
OR! .... he knows of her and she doesn't know him, too close of a coincident for him not to know something about her, plus she said his face looked familiar ...this guy knows her ...
