    This worked for my sons Tao Tao 125 atv. Although my bowl was pinned instead of screwed so we had to drill those out and tap for screws. After that, the adjustment you suggested of the tab holding the needle worked and she is running great now. Thanks

    Finally someone who knows how to explain how a carburetor work! I just got my quad and every video I’ve seen has too much detail on the thins I don’t want to know! Thank you for the video! A tip to putting back throttle needle. It’s easier if you hold the gas while you are threading it back on that way the spring doesn’t fight back.

    This looks to be a Keihin knock-off. You'll find 1001 people complaining about Keihin carbs leaking fuel both out the overflow & into the engine itself via the airbox breather pipe - you'll also find 1001 "solutions" of varying faffery - the gist is press the plastic float unit up as if the bowl is full of fuel. If the plastic float touches the metal of the carb when in the "fully up" position, it ain't seating the cut-off pin onto the port - you need the plastic float to stop before it "bottoms out" in its travel - you do that by tweaking the small metal tab that carries the shut-off - you want that shut off pressed home on the port before the plastic float bottoms out.
    Open a few & you will find the float almost always bottoms out before the shut-off is pressed fully home - so that carb will always leak fuel, no matter what other measures you take, how much cleaning/blowing/cursing you do. The first step is to make sure the shut-off is being set firm onto the port before the float runs out of travvel. Simple as. If it isn't - adjust the tab. You want that float bouncing off the port, not the body of the carb. Then - hey presto - it'll shut the fuel off as intended.

      You're dead on. Any carb you get needs to be opened up and inspected, especially a knock off, since those who build them get paid by how many the produce in a hour.

    Exactly amazing video, wished I stumbled upon it earlier, I used the same tube blowing technique really helps in giving you an idea of when the needle closes, I have a 125cc pit bike that tends to surge when I give it quick gas so I pointed it out to too lean a float setting so I did exactly what u did, crossing my fingers in hoping it runs right after. Again great vid

    Thanks, I just got one of these PZ20 Carb's and it poured fuel out air filter and thru bottom overflow after minor use ... I returned it and ordered a new one (before I saw your video)... I suspect the new one may need an adjustment and now I'll be ready. Also, you're very right about easily striping screws putting carb back together... take it slow and switch sides screwing to balance the screw torch

  • @gainsum

    7:20 I thought you had a fuel leak vent tube? So only when you go full throttle you dump fuel?

    • @gainsum
      @gainsum 3 года назад

      You said you need more fuel in the bowl... buttt doesn't that continue to dump excess fuel in the bowl?

    • @zorandrobnjak5641
      @zorandrobnjak5641 3 года назад

      Hey, since you mentioned vent tube, where should I connect that and what to do with screw that controls flow out of it? So far I only used it to drain excess fuel out when it overflowed.

    Hello, is this the same carburetor as the PZ16?
    I'd also like to ask if the part where the intake manifold goes is 16mm.

    • @EngineerPrepper
      @EngineerPrepper  5 лет назад

      PZ16 and PZ20 are pretty much identical.. the difference is the intake diameter. Pz16 is 16mm and pz20 is 20mm.

    • @dangerousdoggo5465
      @dangerousdoggo5465 5 лет назад

      @@EngineerPrepper Oh god. I need the 16mm version, and the seller had PZ16/PZ20 in the title, and I ordered that. I texted him I want the 16mm one. I hope he sees it!
      How would you rate this carb? I need it for a 2 stroke moped. No reeds yet but most likely I'll order a reed kit.
