I mean, we're in desperate need of a mageseeker champion. We cannot have a mage rebel as the only villain of Demacia, the implications of this are quite bad.
I have thought of an anti mage minister pulling the strings of demacian from the shadows, who also is the head of the mageseekers and has a secret squad of warriors that have different version of petriside fused with them. Unfortunately no such story could every be told cause jarvan the 3rd probably died by leblanc and not by a erson that wants a "pure" demacian by any Costs.
@@vergil8833 Having people who rebelled because they didn't like being imprisoned and tortured being represented by an evil character is most certainly bad. The rebellion was more than justified, Sylas may have gone too far, but having him as the only representant of the mage rebellion and as the only villain of Demacia has the very bad implication that oppressed people are villains if they don't accept their oppression.
Tiana might actually be a powerful mage Maybe she has an important skill for battle which is why she is kept hidden, but she is controlled by her marriage. Or Le Blanc which makes more sense
It's weird to me that the King supposedly wanted to free mages (as stated in the Lux Comic), his best friend and Counselor was against the prejudice they received and even raised a mage daughter, but the two most powerful man of Demacia did LITERALLY nothing to help them. On the opposite, Mageseekers grew under their reign.
Sylas mentions hypocrisy in his lore a lot, and I think he's right in that regard. If J3 was so pro-magic, why did the Mageseekers rise under him? Hypocrisy. They didn't do anything about their beliefs to help mages out.
@@dudebro765 Im talking about precisely that. Its hard for me to read a story about Barret Buvelle being this amazing man who isnt set in stone in tradition, wanted to help everyone and wasn't against mages, and in the end have riot basically say "oh no, he was amazing, the problem were ONLY the mageseekers". Riot is too much afraid to have their golden children have flaws and be in need to overcome them
I think in the early years of Jarvin 3rd reign, he initially had good counsel to keep him on track, but after his best freind died, he felt angry and bitter, wanting to get revenge on the people who he thinks took him away from him. That good council gave way to bad decisions and those bad decisions forced more bad decisions. By the time of jarvin 3rds death, he likely had realised his own foolish decisions and wanted to make amends, but his life was ended before he could get the chance(either by Leblanc or the mageseekers fearing the loss of power), which in turn provoked jarvin the 4th to become even harder on mages in turn, despite having feelings for a magical creature(shyvana). People can make bad decisions, and the jarvins have made a lot of them, but if jarvin wants to be a good king, he needs to let go of thoughts of vengeance and tend to his people and their needs, end the mage seekers(though given how powerful they are at this point, chances are that it will force another fracturing of the civil war, with now the mage seekers and the mage rebellion under Sylas going after the jarvin), and work on fixing all their mistakes. If anything, this story proves that both jarvin 3 and 4 were more similar than we thought. And both made big mistakes that are going to likely have consequences down the line for them. In the case of jarvin 3, those consequences was the assasination of himself, the mage rebellion, and his own son being dragged into making the same kinds of mistakes as he was. And I don’t doubt lord bavelles death was likely perfectly choreographed by Leblanc and likely Tatiana Crownguard. A noxian mage attack, a massacre that caused the death of the previous grand marshal, followed by a sudden promotion that placed the woman who’s failure caused the deaths of one of the kindest and most good men in demacia, the metaphorical brother of the king, into a position of immense power for herself and her husband’s organisation, a husband who could not wait to start subverting the legacy and name of a good man.

I hear a lot of people saying Riot should hire Necrit, and while i have no doubt he would be great at fixing and/or leading the lore to be as great as it could be, im afraid that is exactly why Riot doesnt do it. You see, Necrit would certainly be great at being the lore wiki at riot, making sure the dots are connected right, and drawing great plots that could make sense of older and future lore. But the issue once again lies with Marketing. Necrit is passionate about the lore, and Riot knows this, and they also know that if they were to hire him, whenever the marketing/product team would get an idea they think sounds really cool, with no regards to the impact on the canon lore, Necrit could easily be seen as an obstacle to their plans by saying; “uh sir, that would break the canon lore.” In short, unless the higher ups put a leash on their ambitious marketing team, Necrit will not be hired because he would be too good at his job.
Depends. As of now Riot canon follows the "Blazblue" canon as in all possibilities are canon but just contained in separate universes. LoL lore has always been inconsistent af, but tbh all we really need is someone just to clean it up and find out the main timeline buried in all the mess. Necrit clarifies a lot of the inconsistencies, but it would be nice if we had an official clarification of which is canon and which is a slight embellishment of the events
I would hire someone who’s really good at their job, that way, they can allow a good story to be told, a good story can lead to good sales as people are genuinely interested on what your story offers
Rito shouldn't go by saying publicly that EVERYTHING is canon if they can't follow that line of thought after. They said that more or less at the beginning when the card game LoR was released. The did it at a time when the game wasn't so developed yet. I mean, how could they know they would keep everything canon? Maybe that was their intention, sure, but then they probably started seeing that they can't develop the game ideas without "non canon" things or something, so they just started adding "what if" cards, and now we have no idea which parts are canon and which are not. This is seriously reminding me of a certain "ruined event"... ruined by many many "options" of lore that in the end were just confusing and stupid sometimes. Why can't they keep it consistent...? If they can't, just don't say publicly that everything will be canon. Nice story about Sona's father tho. I haven't read it yet. =) Maybe after the Piltover/Zaun events next year, they will finally go back to Demacia, and maybe Noxus. And Sylas! =D Sylas 2023? haha
The mentions of Sona using sign language really makes me wish she had some animations that used that, but I guess with how that would need to be different for different languages, as sign language differers depending on the country, it's not going to happen 😔
@@martinc9510 I was thinking about in game animations, so subtitles would not really work there But a whole new Runterra or Demacia sigh language could be such a cool thing to add to that world and if they ever updated Sona's model and animations I would love to see that, maybe with Sona voicing what's she's signing for the player only, like how her voice is now, so that we know what it is that way
she would have her own signlanguage any way because in demacia making gestures with your hands might get you put into jail because people think you are using magic.. yep thats how fucked up they are
With this, sona has one of the best lores for me, idc anymore. And also, for someone like me who cannot hit skillshots, i love playing her (but riot will maker her a harder character to play eventually...)
Hey necrit, in mordekaiser’s taunt in league of legends you can see a poro that looks like he has been corrupted by the blessed isles, probably not canon but maybe it’s useful for the poro in the blessed isles.
This story is so good, I’d love to see this animated even if it was just a 10 minute short, I’d love to see the Buvelles, they sound like the only good family in Demacia.
With the introduction of sion giving us a look at how hemomancy can be used for war. Beval could be brought back to life. I didnt realize cithiria cards were what ifs. I just assumed it was a glimpse of her future. Now it feels like there really is a disconnect in the lore team. Which isn't a good sign going into a mmo..
Just adding a "What if -" to the end, or beginning of the card text would be a nice way of saying that this character would interact or grow in this way if they were in this position. I don't think they should get rid of non-canon cards as they do enhance some aspects of the lore, but to know which ones are actually current, and which are timeless would be nice. Cithria is well liked, so it's nice you can see her develop as a character, despite her still being a trainee. Dictating it as non-canon would be a bit inaccurate since she would have developed in that way. We also have a lot of things going on in the Runeterra universe, and not everything is concurrently happening. Tyari becoming The Traveler, and all of the other cards that transition through a set piece like the Bandle Gunners, Mountain Sojourners, and the Corina/Wardens cards are more so isolated events much like comics in the MCU. I don't think it ruins anything, but it sure does make it hard as to where those specific cards fit within their respective timeframe or "canon."
Thats generally not a good idea, what makes necrit interesting is his theories. If he was part of riot he would know everything, and as an employee he cant say anything, therefore the inability to make videos and other fun theories.
People seem to misunderstand why the Lore in League of Legends has declined. Suggesting Necrit to be hired by Riot so the lore "can be completely fixed, since riot is so bad at consistency!" completely undermines the talent the writing team has. The issue stems from Riot higher-ups, not the department related to making these stories. If Necrit gets hired, hes not gonna be a higher-up making the calls. So ultimately what issue have you fixed? This is an issue beyond even the writing team, the only way you can help is to show your love for the Lore.

Legends of Runeterra have always done they own stuff. It just so happens that sometimes the world building may contradict other works because other writers might wanted to do something else with that. I remember when a rioters said that everything in LoR is canon and now some stuff are just what ifs because it contradicts other stories
I totally agree about what you said, about the lore and the canon-questionability sense of cards now, some cards just doesn't makes sense anymore but before we knew that cards are "what-if" scenarios, we thought it could be possible that some twists could happen, but now, since it cannot be taken as seriously as before, i wonder why Malphite is in Targon, for example, it's making me sad as well, the lore is getting very big, but we have no confirmed landmarks anymore
Seeing how riot just makes a mess of the amazing lore is sad for me, I'm very scared that they will retcon something of Camille's lore for Arcane. Seeing what made LoR so amazing for the fans being taked away from us just because Riot's team (or managment team for sure) didn't understood what made us love cards like Chitria
"Maybe LeBlanc wanted a weak Marshall" Also Tianna: Engaged (at the time) to the Mageseeker CEO Her Nephew being one of the most powerful elite military leaders in the country Her Niece being the most powerful mage of Demacia Her Niece's bestfriend being what mages see before their death Herself definitly not coming from a long line of military officials Also LeBlanc: Ah yes, perfect candidate. Definitly didn't come from a family of military leaders and would 100% be devastated after 1 mega loss in battle. Is her judgement getting clouded orrr???? Cuz I dont think it would be the most clever move to give the (probably) 2nd most powerful noble family (next to the royal family) in Demacia a even more powerful position.
Man, you weren't kidding when you said Sona's family was good. When I see her in my games, I cry. When I hear her story, I cry, but for a good reason 😂 She truly finds a way to always make me cry
Eldred as a champion would be pretty straightforward. I'd imagine he'd be manaless (but maybe would still have a resource system) and for abilities it would be a combination between Anti-Mage and Silencer from Dota (lots of silences, magic resist and mana-burning). Casters would dread facing you but Fighters/Rangers will be able to face you easily. Not sure what this would mean for balance but it's start on how you'd craft a Mageseeker
Honestly, when I found out about the new jarvan cards and all I thought that was amazing, the fact that the buvelle started to get in the game, Jarvan III and many other thing, I really was amazed how riot was able to tell a story throught those different cards and character. The fact that it ain't canon is really "erf". It really is confusing the lore for nothing, if they cannot manage to team up together just to tell a story without someone needing to retcon everything right after, they really are going in a direction so wrong right after the ruination stuff, it could start damaging something they are supposed to work on since ages. Oh yeah and lore not being canon also make me sad for Katarina and Garen
@Necrit In modern Military they refer to what happened to Diana Crownguard as field promoted. For being a 'sole survivor' you get promoted as a reward.
Honestly they dont even needlto change the art, just the flavor text. That would also fix cythria (they should also remove some of her voicelines too btw)
Yeah... I think Riot basically established with the Ruination that there is no cannon. So in the end I'll just go with my headcannon that The Ruination was a complete success, the entire world got corrupted by the mist, the sentinels failed, Viego got reunited with Isolde and they are basically just standing there, maybe went back to sleep together while Thresh rules over Runeterra. And the whole "Isolde not wanting to return to Viego" deal was just Senna hallucinating from years spent in inprisonment while SHE was actually the one who didn't want to return to Lucian which was just as obsessed as Viego. Or idk... still have to work on this headcannon but the point is: World covered in Black Mist, the ruination won, ghosts everywhere. Not like it matters with how messy lore can get
7:06 Min.: EVERY good man is like this. Unconditional loving is normal for us men. Some of the women also love like this but they be now days sadly once more rare.
I mean, is there any chance that the cards aren’t referencing this account of J4 getting attacked? I mean he seems to be on a frontline king, this would put him in multiple dangerous situations. Maybe this happened before and that’s why j3 was more willing to send beret out to find him the time he died
Remember the video he did about the creator saying that the Lore doesn't matter that could be why some of this is happening in this game. If the people up top don't care about the story they're just gonna put whatever out there. If the people writing the story don't keep up with the story and there's different people it can end up like DC lore plot whole & jazz
The problem with lore I feel is they have so many writers who aren't told what to keep and what they can do on their own. This writer I assume is completely and absolutely disconnected from anything else with Sona or her father. I really doubt they read anything about him when they were told to write this.
With some changes it might be possible to change the battle at the gates of mourning into the battle to save J4 therefore bringing at least a little sense into the cards. Maybe? 😥
Lord Buvelle died by the hands of Leblanc, the "squire" was probably Leblanc. To be fair I tolerated Veigar building a Mecha in lore he wasn't always the most serious (well in others POV) and most threatening individual in the world, heck his antics actually help people instead of tormenting them its not too far fetched this yordle built a mecha to be more threatening (or taller) but will ultimately help others. The sentinel lore is a so so, there are ones I can tolerate but some are just outright not good
As a Yordle fan, we've felt this for alot longer than most people, and while many like alot of the directions Riot went with the Yordle expansion, there are underlying things that are just terrible, a well planned out future might have made things make sense, but lets be honest, Riot doesn't have that for the Lore, not anymore. For context, Yordles are just like magical sponges now, they spawn somehow, nevermind all the details of learning, growth, "it's magic deal with it" nothing more than comic relief and not even a true race anymore, the 2nd megling genocide no one cared enough to talk about.

Can’t wait till they figure out a way to remove the void from the lore /: Wouldn’t be too surprised at this point, despite the immense danger it poses to Runeterra it is already completely ignored…

I mean, we're in desperate need of a mageseeker champion. We cannot have a mage rebel as the only villain of Demacia, the implications of this are quite bad.
I'm not saying mages are bad.... *But*
@@xxscrublordxxx5652 Just mistreated, then look what happened after Sylas’ escape.
Implying that violent mass murdering rebellions are bad is bad?
@@vergil8833 Having people who rebelled because they didn't like being imprisoned and tortured being represented by an evil character is most certainly bad. The rebellion was more than justified, Sylas may have gone too far, but having him as the only representant of the mage rebellion and as the only villain of Demacia has the very bad implication that oppressed people are villains if they don't accept their oppression.
Riot : Everthing in LoR is canon
Also Riot : Lore is just secondary ads.
This breathes new life to the old Noxus vs. Demacia troupe
Tiana might actually be a powerful mage
Maybe she has an important skill for battle which is why she is kept hidden, but she is controlled by her marriage.
Even if they did something, most of there country still dislikes mages, so they might have gotten backlash

Necrit is passionate about the lore, and Riot knows this, and they also know that if they were to hire him, whenever the marketing/product team would get an idea they think sounds really cool, with no regards to the impact on the canon lore, Necrit could easily be seen as an obstacle to their plans by saying; “uh sir, that would break the canon lore.”
In short, unless the higher ups put a leash on their ambitious marketing team, Necrit will not be hired because he would be too good at his job.
@@machinagenex101 try fate lore. The devs just told us not to worry about things that much
I would hire someone who’s really good at their job, that way, they can allow a good story to be told, a good story can lead to good sales as people are genuinely interested on what your story offers

It could be made-up sign language, with subtitles.
@@martinc9510 I was thinking about in game animations, so subtitles would not really work there
But a whole new Runterra or Demacia sigh language could be such a cool thing to add to that world and if they ever updated Sona's model and animations I would love to see that, maybe with Sona voicing what's she's signing for the player only, like how her voice is now, so that we know what it is that way
ADC dies: Sona starts hand signing wildly
also its a top down game u wont see that
she would have her own signlanguage any way because in demacia making gestures with your hands might get you put into jail because people think you are using magic.. yep thats how fucked up they are

All I know is, Sona has always had, and will always have the best set in league of legends.
Sona'a parents are so kind this made me tear up a little.
So basically screw Demacia, more specifically the mage seekers.
So in other words, Jarvan III sought to undo a wrong he himself had done because of the death of a friend before he died..
great storytelling Necrit, I was engaged all the way and even shed some tears when the grief hit her, love your stuff man
Download otw. Thank you for another story for sona
This story is so good, I’d love to see this animated even if it was just a 10 minute short, I’d love to see the Buvelles, they sound like the only good family in Demacia.
I cried listening to that piece of literature. Very good.
Honestly, it could have totally been a future canon card, if they just didn't make that reference in the flavour text
I don't think it ruins anything, but it sure does make it hard as to where those specific cards fit within their respective timeframe or "canon."
if riot hire you I think you could help them a lot fixing the lore
Thats generally not a good idea, what makes necrit interesting is his theories. If he was part of riot he would know everything, and as an employee he cant say anything, therefore the inability to make videos and other fun theories.
@@Yfrith And to add that, he has a familiy. So yea pretty much big no no
People seem to misunderstand why the Lore in League of Legends has declined.
@@bobthebuilder6521 i think its because of covid there was tend to be a lot of miscommunication in riot, like what happened to the sentinels of light event
@@Yfrith Riot could've been responsible and delayed the event if the Lore team was not capable of putting out well made stories within the timeframe established prior to Covid hitting. instead of delaying the event, Riot shoved for it to be released. Ontop of that they added random characters that have no lore tie ins just for the sake of giving them skins... it is very shallow and apparent Riot wanted money, not quality.
Everything is canon but LoR is exploring different timelines at the same time. It’s no different from comic book writing
I was reading the story as this video was uploaded, and when I read that Tianna failed upwards like that, I too suspected of a certain pale lady with a dark flower.
"just dont make him shirtless".. hahaha, that really made me laugh! thank for the video Necrit, i always enjoy your content and make sure to upvote :)
You really know, how to set the mood off a story. Thank you for your work 🙂
Seeing how riot just makes a mess of the amazing lore is sad for me, I'm very scared that they will retcon something of Camille's lore for Arcane. Seeing what made LoR so amazing for the fans being taked away from us just because Riot's team (or managment team for sure) didn't understood what made us love cards like Chitria
Yo wtf.... i love playing sona, and this story made me cry like a kid
the whole "some of the cards are just speculative" is super dumb

Leblanc runs the mage seekers? headcanon accepted and ran with
"Maybe LeBlanc wanted a weak Marshall"
Also Tianna:
Engaged (at the time) to the Mageseeker CEO
Her Nephew being one of the most powerful elite military leaders in the country
Her Niece being the most powerful mage of Demacia
Her Niece's bestfriend being what mages see before their death
Herself definitly not coming from a long line of military officials
Also LeBlanc:
Ah yes, perfect candidate.
It seems demacia is being pushed back, the war, the rebellion, inside betrayal and etc. then while demacia is down Kayle and Morgana will show up
This was one of the best ones yet
Man, you weren't kidding when you said Sona's family was good.

She truly finds a way to always make me cry
Eldred as a champion would be pretty straightforward. I'd imagine he'd be manaless (but maybe would still have a resource system) and for abilities it would be a combination between Anti-Mage and Silencer from Dota (lots of silences, magic resist and mana-burning).
Casters would dread facing you but Fighters/Rangers will be able to face you easily. Not sure what this would mean for balance but it's start on how you'd craft a Mageseeker
I See sona, I Click
Now i want Sona's in animation like Arcane. Or more like Demacia's lore.
plot twist: the entire universe is a what-if scenario told by bard and aurelion sol.

A mageseeker would be an excellent antimage champion, something that negates them, and suppresses their abilities, maybe as a support or a toplaner.
Silence.....
a story that's a double edged sword. It's good, but at what cost
Great lore coverage!
Honestly they dont even needlto change the art, just the flavor text. That would also fix cythria (they should also remove some of her voicelines too btw)
official petition to make cithria a champion
Not like it matters with how messy lore can get
wtf why im crying; as if i mourn this man.

I mean, is there any chance that the cards aren’t referencing this account of J4 getting attacked? I mean he seems to be on a frontline king, this would put him in multiple dangerous situations. Maybe this happened before and that’s why j3 was more willing to send beret out to find him the time he died
Easy solution. Mark every card this either IS or ISN'T cannon somewhere in the corner of the Art. Would make our lives much eaiser.

Alright, this story is really cool.

I would not be suprised if Eldrid was the one who killed Jarvan the third bc he heard he way gonna stop the mage seekers from enprisioning mages
i really hope the ruination event is a what if scenario and the ruined game king shows what really happened

How... It's 30 min long it's been 5 minutes
