I have no problem with hunting. And it's pretty obvious that you were going for a quick, effective kill-shot here. But I must say, my heart really went out to this elk, because it was incredibly apparent that this dude very much wanted to live. A very raw and real video.

You may get some negative feedback on here about the video, but the reality is... you made a perfect shot with your first arrow. The second arrow was an insurance shot. Both were lethal and would have killed the bull. The unpredictability of each elk is something that simply can not be predetermined. Some have a stronger will to survive than others. This fine bull was one of those that happens to be a fighter. Well done. Congratulations on an incredible bull. I say, your video is real and death absolutely is a real part of the hunt. To forget about death and the kill is to ignore one critical component of hunting.

@@russgaartexastrainingandbo949 you clearly do NOT know what you’re talking about. The first shot was on the money. It was NOT too far back, it wasn’t back at all (the proof is in the blood coming out of the bulls mouth - thus confirming it being a lung shot). That arrow from the first shot was perfectly placed and was 100% lethal. Meaning, out of 100 elk hit in that same spot with that same shot, 100 elk would die. You may need to take a closer look at and try to understand more - the anatomy of elk. That would be my suggestion.

Realize I’m kinda late to the discussion but I have some thoughts on the subject. To not show, understand or appreciate the process that is to kill an animal, is to disgrace not only the animal and the sustenance it provides, but also the art of hunting. I applaud you for not editing the last moments out. What many fail to realize is the fact that these animals live enormously more enjoyable lives than the animals most of us eat on a daily basis. If you’re going to talk about inhumane then that is the place to start. This is for a fact the most humane and efficient way to harvest an animal. These animals aren’t raised for slaughter which is exactly why taking them down is considered a great feat. Studies have also shown, that animals like elk has way less nerve endings than humans. An arrow entering it’s lungs is something the elk would only feel as a small pinch. The elk is not in pain afterwards either, you can see the way the elk still doesn’t understand what is happening when he attempts to spit and sneeze out the blood that his mouth suddenly is filled with. The animal had a stressless and quick death, which is much more than I can say for most farm-animals, in fact, that’s more than I can say for most humans. In addition I feel it is only fitting to show the whole process when you’re hunting with a bow. A poorly placed arrow can lead to a slow death in which the animal can walk a great distance before dying. Therefore I feel a comfort seeing the animal fall so soon after being hit. Congrats on downing and harvesting this magnificent animal. It was truly a masterful shot.

You may not be looking for any type of partnerships with companies right now, I hope not anyway, but if you are, THIS IS NOT A VIDEO I WOULD HAVE ON MY CHANNEL. 1. your language; when the companies that say yes to you on partnerships, and then see this, they leave faster than they showed up for you. 2. When that bull was clearly not going to be able to go anywhere, instead of sitting there, you should have done all you could to hit lung. Yes you might have clipped back lungs but that dark blood means liver more than lung. That bull literally went through hell for you. There will always be somebody to find the reality of this helpful, hunting isn't for everybody. One thing I do know is that there will always be people that whine for just about anything, especially when they don't understand it. Ultimately the only thing that should matter is if it was in season and if he had the right tag. Everything else is just opinion. Not just anybody can be out hunting Elk nor does anybody want to because it is not easy, I see no foul in this video. There is no foul in showing people the truth. I’m a big hunter but this was a little hard to watch. Good elk but I wish it would have been a more effective shot. It was just sad too see it try so hard to survive but at least u didn’t wound him and never find him. All in all great elk buddy

Initial response is to say kill it quicker, but the shots were good it looked like. I guess this guy was a fighter to the end.

The death of any animal is part of what we do as hunters. We have to accept it is part of providing food for our family. Good advice given here in this thread. Edit the video or take it down! Showing the bull struggle and die is not what anyone needs to see.

The shot we'll placed but ya I would have cut out the last bit of the old monarch fighting it. As a hunter myself, I know what happens, you know what happens ,but this could have been shortened for the youbtube surfers. Congratulations on the harvest.

Thats as real as it gets and that's a slammer bull. If you wanna go hunt this what you sign up for. It's not glamorous, if more people showed the reality of hunting instead of the glamorized TV version, We'd have more serious hunters out there and less bros trying to be like Cam Haynes.

Hunting is an inheritance from my ancestors that I don't give up.
A quick death is an act of respect for the animal, respect for hunting is necessary.
This form of hunting is not deadly, it brings a slow death to the animal.

I like hunting as a proffesion for regulating the system to keep the nature in harmony. But I am always agains the silent bow/crossbow weapons. Hunting only for fun I will never like.
Btw this was really nice Lung shot. But good one like that is really rare, and thats the reason why I bow huntery dont like (I saw lot of badly injured animals).... historical ways of hunting must stay in history.... And btw I dont like to keep the poor creature dying for a longer time.

you had plenty of time to go put another arrow in him and speed up the process , this wasnt very cool. yes this happens in the elk woods , but if you have a chance to make it quicker , then do it .

Great bull, great shot. Sometimes death can take a few minutes, even with perfect aim. Of course he fought to the end. No animal says "aw, screw it" and just lays down. These animals are usually hunted during or near mating season, they're already tough as nails and now pumped up on testosterone. They aren't going down easy.

watching this video confirms my decision to stop hunting - I've not problem with people that do and try to kill efficiently and quickly so the animal doesn't suffer, but the background reactions didn't inspire confidence.
I do like Elk meat though....
