Best Way To Pump Water From A Creek: Off Grid Tiny House

- I show the process I use to pump water from a creek behind my tiny house into my IBC storage tanks. I use a red lion sprinkler pump and a couple of garden hoses to transfer the water from the creek to the tanks. The pump is powered by a small ryobi generator.

Nice simple setup. Plan on doing the same. My entire house is on a cistern and when summer comes water is expensive to have delivered
Nice setup and video! Thanks.
Have thought about doing this for a while. Helpful af thanks
Very cool .
Very helpful that’s you
Very helpful! Thank you for the video
its hard to tell from your video but i cant help but think you could try a ram pump . going 24/7 and when it has filled your totes then the overflow could go back into the creek
Thank you for this video. I need emergency water from lake just to do garden, showering, NOT cooking from time to time. I will put an filter on it. The garden hose coupler are the deal. Are they at a box store like Home Depot. Bama Fishin B
I recommend looking into a ram pump it pumps a lower amount that continuously just powered from the water
It does not look like he has enough current.
@@frankmaggard7123 actually a small one potentially could bearing in mind he is pumping through that hose sucking it quite fast however it wouldn’t be the most flow but it probably would be quite a bit over a period of time
i use a battery powered milwaukee transfer pump to do this
I'm about to get water from a ditch nearby lol, I'm thinking of getting the milwaukee pump. I need to water plants at the far end of the property
We just bought a Milwaukee transfer pump to get water to a few cows
Thank you for the video. I'm thinking about buying an off grid tiny house with a submersible pump. What do you do during winter? Does the creek freeze over?
awesome! but what happens if that pump sucks air
Does anyone know if it's possible run pvc to a creek. With a standard pond filter intake box on the creek end, and a cast iron hand pump by the house? What I'm asking is, can a hand pump pull water at a 45 degree angle about 200 feet? I want a way to get creek water to my back yard with zero electricity. Can a hand pump even do this?
How far is it pumping the water?
Curious about the ryobi generator. Kinda looks like is supposed to be a quiet generator like the Honda eu2200 series which is a hefty price. Your ryobi didn’t sound very quiet but curious if it’s a quiet model. Honda is just too darn expensive.
Yes, it's very similar to the little honda. I paid $400 for it used. It also has bluetooth, so you can turn it off from your phone.
@@nialldiversThanks! Been looking for something similar to Honda. Also curious how many operating watts or amps.
How much is this pump?
And can i get it am from Nigeria African
Dude not the pyrex 😆
I have a ravine with running water that comes straight off of the corn and bean fields. Would you water your vegetable and fruit garden? They usually don't spray fertilizers until the end of summer. That's my only concern.
ARE you serious??? all those chemicals return to the earth and straight into your water source
How do you then pump from the cisterns into the cabin for use? We are figuring out options for our off grid cabin - we are on a river with only solar so we have some options but not a ton
The water gravity feeds into the house. There's a pump inside the house that provides pressure for the sink and shower.
How far are you on the earthship.
Ram pump. Not machines or electronics needed.
Tiny house but stupid big generator?😂
You should paint your tanks black. I have the same system as you and I never use bleach because nothing grows inside my tanks because they are black and enclosed.
Don't u think of the bacteria is ur creek and any other organism. U should use a cap full of bleach. Just common sense
not, you are mid informed, black helps but you will always get some growth without treatment of some kind.
mis
You still need an appropriate method to sterilise it
@@UKsystems i dont use it to drink water just showers and wash dishes. Been doing this for 4.5 years
