Hi l am from Ethiopia, l am your regular follower and l want to tank you because all videos you make are very mandatory and useful.But today in this lesson l have question if is possible that is when you do derivatives, you did only derivative of denominator with out including nanometers,in short you didn't follow the rule of derivatives,so this is my question as it is the rule to do this type of question or what?any ways tanks more for your lectures keep it up!

When you solve a "MAX/MIN" problem and you take the derivatve, you don't need to worry about the denominator, since we are going to set the derivative equal to zero, to find the maximum or minimum. And when the numerator is zero the whole fraction is zero no matter what the denominator is equal to. (It saves a little bit of time).
@@MichelvanBiezen Tanks my best!!! l understand as it is unnecessary to give emphasis for denominator.But my question is not answered to me because l said that when you do this problem you equalized zero with derivatives of denominator but not with nenomnatur how is it possible?

We do most of our filming during the weekend, as we work our normal jobs during the week, and then the videos need to be edited and produced and the thumb nails need to be developed (all done by my wife). We try to keep enough going so we can publish 3 per day, but we are thinking about slowing down to 2 per day.

The problem does not consider the wall thickness ...shouldn't that be considered in solving for actual Ladder length?Your videos are fantastic...so thorough ....so EASY to follow ... and LEARN from !Fred CT
@@MichelvanBiezen It was very frustrating and to be completely honest I don’t think I have the mental capacity to figure something like this out on my own.
When I was a student, I felt the same way. There are many problems I wasn't able to figure out on my own and then concluded that I wasn't very smart. Now I realize that it is just a matter of experience, and practice and spending enough time to absorb the material. Don't give up. Keep at it.

I mostly struggle with knowing what to do. once I figure that out the math is fine but I can never really grasp when i should use certain formulas etc. Do you have any tips for me or any resources potentially?

No, it doesn't matter. All that matters is where the edge is that will be in contact with the ladder.
