    What a great small light twin design. I’ve always admired the twin Commander designs. This p2006tT is so well laid out and simplified and centrally balanced, landing gear looks strong and CG workable. If only Rotax could make a an engine to spin the other way to help with the critical engine out issue … this may be the perfect small twin.

    Like many light twins: Looking at the performance data, it appears that any time it gets beyond SL ISA conditions, if an engine fails, the remaining one will just to take you to the scene of the accident. I'd probably halve my chances [or less] of an engine failure and get a proven single.

    My son in law got his multi engine rating in one of these. He loved how it flew. Will there be any improvements to give it a higher cruise speed, maybe slightly larger engines?

    • @bigmetalbirds
      @bigmetalbirds  10 месяцев назад +1

      Congrats to him! Yes, P2006T is indeed very popular among schools for multi engine license. But I doubt they will make a more "performance" version of it. In my opinion, they came in and got that part of the aviation market they were aiming to. The engines they've chosen are extremely light, making the empty mass one of the lowest in the sector. It all comes down to the preferences and needs, and of course, the budget, but i've heard good reviews of Beechcraft Baron G58, which is generally bigger and has better cruise alt and speed, and well, its Beechcraft, haha. There are a few good Seminole configurations and of course, if you willing to spend some extra, imo, Diamond D42 is the best. Their safety systems and "safety-focused" design, id pay extra for that.

    • @DeereX748
      @DeereX748 10 месяцев назад

      @@bigmetalbirds That's where I'm going with the "more power, faster cruise". The school my SIL was at used Seminoles for ME instruction until the Tecnam came around. The Seminole (and Baron) both have a lot more power and significantly faster cruise, albeit at a much higher gph penalty. I can see the P2006T as ideal for multi instruction, but the private owner who goes from a single to a twin does it for faster cruise, usually. Unless Tecnam's end-game with the P2006T is for instruction, aren't they limiting their market for the plane, when you can buy a Seminole or Baron for less money?

    • @bigmetalbirds
      @bigmetalbirds  10 месяцев назад

      From I heard, they actually position P2006T as a trainer and thats it. I don't think they are into conquering a wider market for now. In Europe they are much more popular than Piper, and also they've put a lot of $ into special modifications of P2006T for surveillance in the recent years, and have a few ongoing contracts. So, yeah, i don't work for Piper, but it seems like they are not diversifying a lot.

    • @sixpackpilot
      @sixpackpilot 20 дней назад

      Better a late answer than never...You only need to manage throttle, propeller rpm, and carburetor heat (yellow). The Rotax engines have automatic mixture adjustment, so there is no mixture control required on the panel. Rotax employs constant depression carburetors, which is a type of variable-venturi carburetor. In essence the fuel/air ratio is adjusted automatically based on air pressure.
      The fuel jet opening is varied by a tapered needle that slides inside the fuel jet and is controlled by a vacuum operated piston.

    Hi I am very fond of Gyrocopters as these are very safe even when engines fail because the auto rotating proppelors can sill land the aircraft very safely indeed.
    Please feature a few high quality and reputed Gyrovopters . Ideally I would Ike t buy a Gyticooter with twin engines , should accommodate 6 adults , have washroom / toilet , , have air-conditioning,,, have hoods for carrying my 5 adult Persian cats and have enough fuel to travel at leastc2500 kms in thankful . 😂

      @@bigmetalbirds Hi Big Metal Birds, thanks for reviewing the P2006T. It's a nice airplane, but financially out of reach for most people. Airplanes are expensive, in general, but some are less expensive than others.
      Choosing a twin, or any airplane for that matter, is a very personal thing, and depends on what you can afford and what your mission is. Piper, Cessna, and Beechcraft have produced several excellent multi-engine piston aircraft throughout the course of several decades that can be bought for much less than $500k. They aren't brand new anymore, but they are still great airplanes.
      For example, Piper has the Seneca II, Twin-Comanche, Apache, Aztec, Chieftan, and Seminole. Cessna has the 310, 337, 340, 402, 414, and 421. Beechcraft has the BE50, 55, 60, 65, and 76. There are also Commanders, Aerostars, Partenavia P68s, and probably more aircraft that I can't think of right now. To be fair, you can probably find a used P2006T for less than $500k too.
      Don't get me wrong, there aren't any "cheap" options, they are all expensive to own and operate, but these are also all more affordable than the P2006T presented in this video.
