Yeah, I thought Chloe [Darby Camp] was brilliant, and stole the show whenever she was on set. She was given some great lines, and you had to smile when she was shown choosing the "adult" music, eg Leon Bridges River and the Elvis song for Ed to sing. Have to say I really liked this show; not usually my type of thing, but it grew on me probably because of the great ensemble acting. Clever tensions built throughout and keep going until the end. Well-resolved storylines.

From someone who read the book long before a tv show was in the works...this show was cast PERFECTLY! Nicole Kidman IS Celeste. Reese W. IS Madeline. And Shailene Woodley IS Jane. Laura Dern IS Re'Nata and on and on. Seriously. Excellent casting and excellent performances. Glad this show has helped to remind critics and audiences alike that Nicole Kidman is one of our generation's greatest actresses and not just "Tom Cruise's ex wife."
The second season has Meryl Streep!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!
She is the one along with Mimi Rogers who catapulted Cruises career. Kidman was already a star in Australia see BMX Bandits plus the made for T.V series by the same name. Cruise actually gained status with her. Too bad he was shooting blanks and they adopted. She made a great comeback marrying Husband Urban.with twins in under 2 years, too!

A friend kept raving about the show and the premise didn't interest me too much so I kept putting it off and putting it off. Last night I finally gave in and watched and before I knew it I was through the first four episodes. Holy fucking hell, this is one of the best shows I have ever seen. The writing, the production, the acting - everything is just amazing!
Cannot agree with you more. I just cannot believe that a show of this standard can be finished after 7 episodes. Why not more... It can go on forever .... will never get enough of it.

Completely agree! I just started the 1st season 2 days ago and am already half way through the 2nd. Amazing, simply amazing. Even the secondary characters, such as Ed and Nathan, are extremely talented. The entire cast is talented!

Absolutely one of the best series I have ever seen! With a cast like that, how could you not watch it. The scenery helped for sure but it would still be great even without it.
Big Little Lies was brilliantly executed. Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley performances were outstanding as were the performances of the supporting cast. The expert cinematography, direction and editing helped bring these performances to the forefront. The music was the icing on the cake.

I am addicted to the soundtrack and the cast. OMG every little comment they make and their acting, expressions, especially Renata in the car scene and Maddie with her husband, it's infectious.
It's crazy - Taylor Swift's song "It's Nice to Have a Friend" on her new album sounds just like this (especially the intro) and the references to school/kids in her lyrics is so consistent with the content of Big Little Lies too

This show was surprisingly phenomenal! I was expecting Witherspoon to be funny in it (which she was) - but she went above and beyond in her role and reminded me why she is an Oscar winner. Shailene Woodley I had not real expectations about...and she just blew me away! She inhabited that character perfect, if you read the book...she has a huge career ahead of her, outside of teen fare! Laura Dern, Alexander Skarsgard, Adam Scott, Zoe Kravitz - they all were just great! But..the real standout, the performance that just shook me to my core was Nicole Kidman as Celeste! Wow...she is truly an amazing actress. If one were to watch on a weekend the film "Eyes Wide Shut", "Moulin Rouge," "The Others" and this show - you can see what a versatile, talented, and heartbreaking actress she is. I hope she wins the EMMY, SAG, and Golden Globe for this role!!! Kudos to this show!

I just stumbled upon HBO series and then, having read all of Lianne Moriarty's books, had to watch. I ended up buying all the episodes and doing a marathon. It was fantastic. If you haven't read any of her books, you should treat yourself. They are all amazing.
