I can make another one of these if y'all are craving more forbidden knowledge 👀 Just lemme know what kinda cut content y'all are interested in! Assets, skins, movesets... characters? 😳 also i had my first 'new year moment' by saying june of last year. it would actually be june of 2023 lol
Not quite cut content but I recall seeing snippets of full versions of the stage intro animations since for all characters the animation starts playing before the match loading screen is done, most easily noticed with Daggett's intro. Is it possible for you to show off all characters' full stage intro animations? I'd also like to see if there's anything to talk about with campaign mode like unused ideas for the story or items you can get.
One thing I REALLY Appreciate about this Video is that you don't just talk about the Content that was Cut! You also showcase legit reasons WHY said Content was likely Cut or Changed in the Final Build! Plus, also reasonably understanding the Situations both the Game & it's Developers were likely in to make Such Decisions! I wish more people who discuss Concept Art or Unused Elements in Media did this more often, instead of immediately assuming things that likely weren't even the case...
Super armor on strong attacks that hurtbox shift such as Sponge down strong sounds incredibly annoying to deal with, especially for a move that people already dislike dealing with LMAO. Great video!
the love i have for nasb is actually unbelievable, i really hope this game has a major revival .. i do think it's a great game and very enjoyable .. people just dropped it to soon.
Yooo, cool stuff, and yeah, absolutely would love to hear more forbidden knowledge! I did always think it was weird Ember got cheer just for like...playing the game normally, but looks like that worked out fine! That Pat jab thing definitely seems better not being here, but it would be cute if he got dizzy and went into his shield break animation after a bit of it! But yoooo applying super armor to any strong sounds disgusting and interesting! I mean unique mechanics on them like slime specials of course also sounds cool but also like a looot of work! Really cool ideas, but yeah, nothing I feel too bad about us having missed out on so far!
I can definitely see a rhythm mechanic like that used in another NASB game. It was actually the kind of gimmick I had in mind for Luna Loud should she ever get added. And if there is another NASB (GameMill would honestly be shortsighted to not let it happen), I’m kinda hoping they get Korra’s neutral special working the way they originally intended. Although, being able to do the EX version without needing slime might be overpowered considering what a good ledgeguarding tool it is.
Honestly, if there is a NASB3, I just want them to bring back all of the cut characters from the first game. Cutting characters like CatDog, Helga, and Hugh Neutron was an actual crime.
@@NintendoTV64I think if they just copy and paste most of who they already have in NASB2 (with minor adjustments here and there), they could dedicate more time to bringing back the cut characters and a few brand new ones.
@RaccoonFoot Given we still DON'T know if a NASB3 is being made or not + The Worrying Fact of it already being Planned to Release this Year, I feel like at BEST, we'll likely getting maybe 3 - 5 Characters from NASB1 (Sandy, Toph, Oblina, CatDog & Hugh being the MOST likely) back & maybe 2 - 3 New Nicktoons Reps for a 3rd Game! Because even IF they reuse MOST of NASB2 framework, I DOUBT they're going to be able to bring back ALL 11 Cut Characters from NASB1 + Adding New Ones without some MASSIVE Catch or Monkey Paw to go with it!
Honestly, I can understand why these features were cut, especially Patrick because jesus christ, I don't wanna fight against THAT during casual play. Tbh, I would love see a video where someone with inside knowledge would talk about the 11 fighters from the first game who didn't make it into the sequel. Similar to what Source Gaming did with their "Why Characters Got Cut for Super Smash Bros." series
It's funny that you bring up Ember originally having rhythm mechanic, because before NASB2 came out I often imagined Luna Loud from the Loud House having something similar where timed consecutive hits and combos would lead to a damage amplifier, making her something of a high-commitment rushdown. Unlike Ember however, Luna would harness the full power of music through use multiple different instruments and props across her moveset, such as wielding a pair of drumsticks, whipping out her Dad's cowbell, blowing on a tuba, slamming down on a keyboard, flinging her mp3 like a yo-yo and, of course, shredding on her guitar. Her special moves meanwhile would be more standard, such as placing down an amp to give her attacks range, stage diving as a recovery or having a K.O. meter burst that builds up when keeping up momentum with combos. It definitely all sounded rather ambitious to program, but is still an idea I'd like to see properly executed on some day.
I unironically thought that Luna was going to be in NASB2 before Ember got revealed, right down to the music gimmick. As far as I'm aware, she was (and still is) the most popular sister from the show
Yo, you had that idea for her too? I knew I wasn’t alone on that! Love your moveset ideas btw! And yeah cuttsthecatt, I’d say Luna is definitely in the top 3, alongside maybe Leni and Lucy. She was even playable in a Super Brawl mobile game.
1. I think the Ember mechanic could've been really coo but I can see why they cut it. It feels like a lot of extra work and a lot of complexity. Could've been fun though! 2. This sounds really fun to actually use but I can imagine it would be super annoying to fight against. So while part of me is disappointed that it got cut, it was probably for the best. 3. DACUS is fun but I can understand it being hard to balance (especially for characters like Zim). Also (3:30), if this is correct then it's interesting to hear that the sequel's development started pretty much immediately after the first game's launch. Big respect to the team. 4. So THAT'S why Korra's showcase video was so late compared to the other characters. I remember back in the pre-launch days of NASB everyone in the discord was anticipating both her and Zim's videos. Knowing that they had to change some stuff at the last minute clears up so much. 5. Yeah... I can see why this got cut. Giving all of the moves super armor would've been really OP. Especially with the air variants. Anyway, this is all super cool information. Thanks for sharing it with us and much respect to you for helping to reignite this game's spark. Hopefully the new surge of NASB2 content will let more people see how fun the game really is
ty for watching and for sharing your thoughts! and yup, this is a partial explanation for korra coming so late, haha. some characters just had to cook for a bit longer, and some spotlights just took longer to get the 'OK' before going out
wish we had the forbidden spinning patrick for even just one patch. that shit wouldve been so funny. Embers rhythm mechanic sounds super cool too! ty for sharing the forbidden knowledge, would love to see more of these!
I really wish if they weren't going to make slime strongs worthwhile at all that they would just cut them. they only really serve as a noob trap right now. I kinda wish they gave them like a universal forward boost property or something, kinda like a slightly faster wavedash, although obviously there's a lot of domino effect factors with anything that can potentially open up new combo routes.
I feel like they could have made slime strongs count as fully charged normal strongs but then that would have the same sort of issue as making them deal more knockback. Unique properties might have been overall better so it feels like there's a point to using a slime strong and mixing up how you attack the opponent.
Just finished and holy shit some of these seem funny but busted as shit like patrick tornado or patrick suair with super armor. Embers rhythm thing also seems interesting if given more time and were able to make a whole kit around it. The only one i wish made it was dacus but thats because im a big dacus enjoyer. Very interesting to see all this though.
agreed! I think the rhythm thing could've been super dope, but it would really have to 'feel' good without being super punishing for messing up somehow. idunno how that could be accomplished unfortunately
There might've been some considered characters, or even ones that may have had some work done on them at some point. But I'd be surprised if he's allowed to talk about them
that kinda information is a little bit harder to pin down, but there's definitely some stuff to talk about there! i'll definitely be talking about that kind of thing in a followup to this video
I was talking about this in the comments of your last NASB vid - I love these ideas but I get why someone them weren't added (assuming mostly netcode with nuanced inputs being a big issue). Since you did most of the testing stuff for Donnie iirc, it'd be cool to know if there was anything besides faster shadow ball they removed - Also if there was any reasoning for the sources of some moves you might be aware of. It seems a lot was made up moveset wise, even though there was a lot to take from for some characters (especially those that have been in fighting games already) 🚛🚛🚛 (YT emotes suck - this is the closest I have to redcar) Oh and tell me who did the testing for Granny so I can... be nice to them
BONUS ENGAGEMENT: If Ember played more like a general swordie the timed hits would have been a cool "tipper" mechanic, the combo trees on a character like that sound really fun to learn. Picturing it as Lucina-esq but only has Roy/Marth's sour spots unless it's a timed input. The sour spot moves are still useful tools for combos/gimps and the trade off with spacing vs input accuracy sounds like it would have a lower skill floor while maintaining a similar skill ceiling with the amount of options available. DACUS + Slime strongs on release sound like cancer lol, Patrick would have had insane chasedown on top of Patshots and decent zoning with tableflip. I still would have switched to Donnie though - I kept trying to 360 hugdriver people and had to change lol.
actually yeah the tipper mechanic was kind of added as a replacement to the rhythm mechanic for ember! I could have elaborated more on why it was removed, but I agree with the sour-spot part, it just would've required a fair amount of attention to balance, and since some animations were tricky or a bit odd to have a timed input on/ wouldn't make sense to have one, it felt like a rhythm mechanic would've ultimately been crammed in. as for donnie, I do have some stuff on him :0
