Wow, what a genius way to pour the fuel, I would definitely do the same if I were mentally handicapped.
Well ur an ignorant asshole.
It's poured that way so the carb isn't flooded.
The Ford V-8 was the fastest production sedan made in America at the time. One Clyde Barrow wrote a letter to Henry Ford praising its virtues.
Wonderfull!!!! A simphony!
I enjoy this kind of work, bringing the forgotten jewels to life.
Flathead is the Best engine in the whole wide world
Sounds good.
this engine had the most american V8 sound ever
that rumble is fuckin amazing
Now THAT'S My kind of "Music".
The sound of Heaven. Thank you Tom
Sounds really good
Yes! Pickle juice best starting ever. 😂. Really though nice sounding “flatti” , thanks for sharing!
Nice sound!!
Awsome sounding car.
God it sounds amazing. I need one of these engines under my right foot!
I’m loving the sound of that chattery old engine. Sounds awesome!
I'LOVE FORD 1935😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks for sharing. Nice.
Good sound
If that back fired out intake, you not going to be happy !! Lol, from experience
The lid with the tiny hole keeps that from being a problem
@@StellarJay Having experienced a blowup of sawdust from a floor sander being thrown on a smoldering fire I can still see the fireball that engulfed the side of my face.
@off spec and just what do you expect the fireball to be like if the engine backfires?
A back fire could have been a disaster with that bottle of juice 😂
Not likely with such a tiny hole in the lid. About 2 drops per second...cant dump it which is why people have problems. They pour it some gas then start with the container open. Recipe for failure.
Beautiful
The sound that aroused the police to open fire on Bonny and Clyde.
RIP
Bonnie Parker Clyde Barrow
Hope theyre not in 🔥HELL🔥
I've always wanted a T Bucket roadster with a flathead Ford V8. Oh well, we can't have everything.
These engines sound like Johnny Cash...
Depois que pegou a primeira vez, ficou facil de pegar novamente. Incrivel muito bonito este carrinho... abraços desde Brasil.. eu falo Portugues..
Sweet!
I love it
Nice.
Sounds like my old '34!!!
Bet u wish u still had it!
purring like a kitten
That is an unsafe act y'all are committing to start this engine I speak from experience. Put a little gas in it then crank it and repeat until the fuel pump primes the system. I had all the hair burnt off my arm up to the elbow and my hand was on fire by starting a flathead in this manner. Thumbs up on the video.
I do it right. Jar with a lid and a tiny hole. Works perfect
That flame can still go in through that small hole. I recommend an upgrade to an electric fuel pump; safety first.
Agreed. I've seen some.... *exciting* moments result from "hand priming" like this. At the least it might be smart to upgrade to something better than a glass jar. BUT, better than spraying ether all over the place. Saw a guy trying to get his car started on the road side once... he was in the car cranking and yelling instructions to his girlfriend, who was standing in front of the car and spraying ether at the carb. You can imagine how that ended.
What my dad taught me a old Ford guy is to take the air hole pump air in the gas tank cover the gas filler with a rag and pump air in the tank three to four times when you hear the gas tank expand this pushes the fuel up to the fuel pump . Then put very little gas in the carburetor then start the car . Work every time
Theres oxygen in that jar! If it backfires it will be an exploding jar with fuel and glass shrapnel!
Naw
2:15 What if henry Ford would see you using a milimetric wrench in one of his cars!
Its a half inch wrench. American made
@@StellarJay yea I heard you yell for the half inch. We have much in common I can tell, yelling about the fuel leak cussing pissed off while everyone else is happy go lucky oh its running!! "God dammit!!!" Hahahaha
Those old Ford flathead V-8 used to haul tons of coal
Those old Ford flat fours hauled tons of coal.
To są fachowcy a nie papraki z napisem szybko i solidnie wiadro części gratis od firmy
Прекрасный автомобиль
Great sounding engine....looks stock on the outside....what about internally?....cam,crank,bore ?
Its bone stock except the sanderson headers
Thanks Tom....I'm rebuilding a Merc block and I think I'll give the Sanderson headers a try.
That fuel flows quicker than my bath filler
Thats a fire breathing v8 ford. Gotta feed it.
I envy you guys in the US, we have to make do with high efficiency clean burning motors in the UK. You have art and character, we are going down the test tube route.
With such fuel costs high efficiency is required from new vehicles. It is fortunate that we are allowed to run these guzzlers in the usa. So few it is allowable to spew noxious fumes i suppose. This old engine gets 20 mpg and doesnt visibly smoke so its kinda green..
@@StellarJay heck 20mpgs is better than some cars today
21 Stud
cool...but we'd like to see that '63 falcon in the background!
Thats a 1963 sprint 4 speed
Im falling in love with the Flathead.. im at least building a Harley Flathead up....weeee
He says "Dodge Rammit" around 1:57
My brother had a Pontiac with a straight 8 could hardly hear it run
Looks like mountain dew ? Or inca kola soda helps start flathead V8's haha nice
Naw that’s pickle juice man , it helps Ford flat heads start 😆
Красиво работает
I always wondered what would happen if I bolted eight lawnmower engines together.
The most famous v8 engine ever.
RUclips search engine not running too good today, I searched air conditioning on a v8 flathead ford.
Esse é o famoso V8 cabeça chata.
Is that pickle juice??? Lol
White lightning
@@brandonknight7240 i put a small hole in the lid. Fuel came out in a trickle.
@@brandonknight7240 not if you’re 60. Standard procedure. Fuel works best when siphoned with a garden hose.
Close the choke??
Probably very dangerous.
Risk being back fire out of carby and a face full of exploding glass and burning fuel.
That jar has a tight lid with a small hole. Never causes a problem. But thanks for your interesting comment. You sound like a real smart fellow.
@@StellarJay Indeed is !!
Had you rebuild it if so how come the fuel pump don't work
It worked. It just took a few tries to suck fuel from the tank.
@@StellarJay that's the problem with mechanical fuel pumps
@@MavAuto-Pete seems like it only needed to be primed, because when it's brand new,well.... It's basically dry.
It would be the same with an electrical fuel pump tho,it would need to run for an instant before actually sucking fuel it,okay,it would be faster, but it's basically the same thing
@@f_for_freedom2492 the engine doesn’t need to turn for an electric pump to catch up.
Hope you got your thermostats located by those upper radiator hose clamps or it will never run cool
No thermostats. Runs very cool
Single Down draught Stromberg carb
Molotov coctail in progress
You are just a troll
Not to worry amigo. I do it right.
Buenas amigo . Uste acredita que ele habla espanhol. ? Desculpe my amigo tambien non sei hablar espanhol. Soy Brasileiro.. abrazos a todos. Buenas noches saludos desde Brasil..
An account named tractors and engines stole your video
The only thing that sounds better than a flat head is too flat heads
Was that a one barrel carburetor?
Its a 2 barrel

This is why it is cool to be a BOOMER
Third degree burns not a good thing . Never do that while cranking a ford .
I do it often. The pinhole in the lid does the trick.
It needs more gas
2:15
get extension
Then fan is rubbing on something making noises
Nope. Hearing ghosts
Ну и где в то время были ваши корейские рисовозки? А их не было и в помине. А форд это история.
8v бляха муха
Perhaps having 2-3 gallons of gas in the tank, and bleeding the fuel lines all the way... ?
6 gallon to the mile ???????? lol
Why is he pouring anti freeze in carb..
Thats gasoline
@@StellarJay i know..
Sounds like shit. My dad had mid 30’s Ford’s his entire life, restored every single one. This guys a hack.
Not a good sign when he doesn't know the difference between the throttle and the choke...
Well i was on the wrong side plus the first start was a tad nerve wracking. Turned out very good. Timing was spot on and carb initial tuning was good. Only prob was small fuel leak at the fuel pump. This engine runs like a swiss watch.
Plus its just a stupid troll
@@StellarJay Don't be childish about it. Pouring neat petrol down a carburettor from a jar with two holes in the lid is asking for trouble. Tightening nuts on petrol pipe with the engine running and your arm over the exposed HT leads, even someone in the background warns you. One spit back or one spark and you were in serious trouble. I've used a squirty type oil can filled with petrol to do what you did, much more controlled than petrol slopping everywhere.
@@caffjohn you are just trolling for no other reason to see youself cause grief. Idiot.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-((
Thank God i live in Texas. Still free.
@@StellarJay Biggest problem is China, China told our EU politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic or industry, we cant vote against China because China ownes the world. China told they will force all countries
