I admit that this series is flawed in many ways and is probably the very definition of "Edginess", but good Lord, do I still love it. It's not that much about the story itself let alone the characters, but more about the atmosphere of this anime. No other series has ever let me experience this much hopelessness, anxiety, grief as Elfen Lied.

When people waste their time commenting on something they don't like, now you'll see how sad their lives are. I'm not someone with really high standards to enjoy something, despite the blood and everything I enjoyed the anime myself. I guess people nowadays want to criticize everything or something. It's weird because attack on titan has more disturbing shit and I don't see anyone saying it's bad, I personally think it's overrated, oh well (Oh, and Higurashi and Umineko no Naku Koro ni are also bloody and violent but I don't see people complaining about its violence lol) People now are going to say whatever crap they want in some intelligent way to hide how triggered they are about this comment on the internet, showing even further how sad their life is, and I probably won't read it. Like, seriously. I've never seen such a level or retardation on people hating on things they don't absolutely love, I can dislike something but not because I dislike it I'm going to hate it. Uh yeah, just saying.
Oh, um, yeah. The saddest part of addressing the retardation of Elfen Lied critiques: objecting to complaints about the show not present in the comments section. It's weird because I guess people just like to complain about anything now _OH WAIT, they always do folks, no reason to even bother, argue, or get insulted on a Famicom video about an old obscure anime._
Thought about this for my wedding as THIS is the anime that got me and my gf together. Yea out of all anime this one was it. No sequel needed, it was finished when Lucy finaly snaped into being a human again and let kouta kill her for good (Manga) or basicaly ENDED the entire organisation and then died in the anime (Yes, the last battles is basicaly Lucy getting rid of them all for good). Manga fits better thou in my oppinion. Its more emotional (not to mention my nickname giver is more badass there frelling PUNCHING BANDO SO HE FELL BACK wich is a feat in itself given how much muscle Bando had(Yes my actual nickname is Kouta Seto (Kouta from EL and the Seto from Shinigami no ballad (as there was a Kouta as well and he happened to have a surename so i combined that and made it my own(also it could very well be that this version in Shinigami no ballad IS this here Kouta from EL during the time skip 8 years (Manga version that is)
I hear the comic ending is an improvement. I liked it just for the interesting bits with the "Diclonius" species. Creepy. I had not seen too many "adult" anime before it, though, so that may be it.
