    "A" series is usually a sweet spot of features and performance and excellent value for money. This second generation of Strix Z790 motherboard is noticably improved to its previos edition and well worth considering. Thorough, detailed and honest review ! Great job ! Well done !

      I'm upgrading to this board with a i7 14700k. Just a quick question, how's your cpu temps ?

    • @doseofmusic1510
      @doseofmusic1510 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@R-Blizzy im using a Kraken 280 AIO. The X63. It runs about 30-35C idle, and about 55 to 60C while gaming and benchmarking. CPU full utilization (only in Cinebench), it will get up to 100C and thermal throttle, but that is only using Cinebench which pushes the CPU to its limits. I would say temps are great for this CPU. Also, im running XMP1 so there is a bit of overclocking there to get me to 7200mt/s

      @doseofmusic1510 That sounds spot on. I wanted the i9 14900k to pair with my 4080 but I think the i7 is the best match. I'm using titanium also but going for 6600mhz. First time trying to update my pc myself, so hopefully, I don't screw it up 😂 Thanks for messaging back.

    I used your Evo XL build video to build with this motherboard and the i9 14900kf. So far I havent had any issues. Used Lian Li AIO and 8x 120mm fans. Temps average around 55 celcius while gaming. Its great to see this review after I just built a similar machine. Still learned a lot from this video.

    I just built a PC with the same CPU as you demo'ed in video and thermal throttling as well as power throttling were persistent during benchmarking, though during normal use and normal loads I have not run into throttling issues. Also may I brag and show off my specs, thanks to Prawn and his videos, I was able to build, troubleshoot and improve this build.

    Considering getting this with an i7-14700KF and a RTX 4070... I wanted to make sure this board wasn't overboard, nor letting down the components. It seems from this review that its a sweet spot, especially as I was worried about PCI lanes and adding M2 and having that effect the card.

      So I ended up going with the Gigabyte Aorus z790 Pro X. However, its still in its box as I'm still undecided in going with this board instead as it sort of replaces my z690 Strix Gaming A which I always had my heart on using, if only it ever worked properly. Another option I have is to grab a used excellent condition Asrock z790 RS Pro for $112.00 from Microcenter. This way I keep my gorgeous white DDR4 T-Force Extreems. I grabbed some DDR5 T-Force Deltas in white (for the Pro X) for now but I don't know what to do..

    Great video, thanks for all your content. I have a question about the PCIe lanes remaining available for the GPU. I have the MSI PRO B760-VC WIFI (MS-7D98) mobo and I installed a 2nd M.2 drive in the available slot. Here's what it's showing for my lanes: "PCIe v4.0 x8 (16.0 GT/s) @ x8 (5.0 GT/s)." Does this mean I'm only getting 8 PCIe lanes for the GPU because it's using the other 8 for the 2nd M.2 drive I installed? I don't see this subject covered on any other videos, and before I upgrade or build a new computer I really want to better understand this issue and the potential impact it might have on performance. Thanks!

    Looking to build an all white 4080 gaming pc and was recently convinced to switch from AMD to intel. So I was looking at the motherboard paired with the intel i9-14900K CPU. Specifically building for call of duty warzone gaming. Can you tell me if my combination of motherboard, CPU and GPU is a good, great or perfect combination?! Also it’s going to be in a 1440p display cause I recently bought the Alienware AW2723DF 280hz 1440p monitor so I’m not looking to upgrade that for awhile!!

    When using m2 cards does the bandwidth stay full. I k ow some boards that use gen 5 x16 for gpu if it has a gen 5 m2 slot they share bandwidth

    But why do they make more boards for dead sockets, like i want a new amd board, i mean i get it, 14th gen is the most recent gen, but i want a new board that will fully utilise the next gen am5 chips.

    I have the same board and ram, and each time I try to enable xmp it hangs on reboot and goes into bios safe mode. The ram is 6400 and 4x16. Only running at default speed. I’ve updated bios and still the same. Any ideas?

      Four sticks of DDR5 can be less stable. Have you tested the sticks to make sure they're all ok? I.e. with memtest86

      @@TheProvokedPrawn yes i have, and with 2 it is fine. i think its just a limitation of the technology at this point. Apparently using 4x32 is fine albeit tremendous overkill. Maybe they should just make more dummy sticks! Going back to Dom Platinum for now.
