FAKE PATINA PAINT - Part 4

- Finalizing the fake patina paint job on Crackpot, the 1978 Ford F100 rat truck build. For now! I will probably "evolve" the patina finish with time. When the rust spots start to show, I will apply a boiled linseed oil finish.

Pudding color is perfect
It is awesome that you have a chance to bond with your son in law. My father in law passed away 6 weeks after my mom in 2016. I have 2 huge holes in my heart. My father in law was more of a dad to me then my own father was. I miss his a great deal.
Yes I'm blessed man! All the best for you
Duff you're RUclips channel is very underestimate man. Love watching your videos. This paint job is awesome. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
I appreciate that! Thank you
@@ratrodsafrica your very welcome my friend.
Love the finish
The stitch work is awesome as well 😎 was trying to keep comments short but I get carried away with all the details that I see lol
No problem! Thank you so much 😊
You are a Artist !
Thank you!
I like the tailgate that way ,and patina is great !!
Check out Rat Rod Bob, he puts black over the colour and then wipes of the black with some kind of solvent, looks interesting
I really like this truck !
Thank you!
Totally agree with you sir.
I drive my rat rod way more than my nice 48 ford super deluxe.
love that tailgate!
Thanks Darell!
Nice job👍👍
Thank you!
Truck is looking good. Weird thing happened when I tried to comment, there was none. You could like click the "Show More" tab under the description. But there was no comments, at least after watching the video. So I clicked the refresh, which started the video over, then I was able to leave one. I can't wait until you get it out in the sun to see those colors pop. Can't wait for the next video.
Bart
Thanks Bart. Yes, the mysterious world of computers and algorithms... I dont know why it did that...
That is f$&king awesome man. Keep the tailgate as it is. This is becoming one of my favourite channels. Lovin it.
Ah, thanks Tony! Appreciate your comment my man!
Agree
That little air sander sound so good!
Favorite tool. But struggling to find the right discs...
It's looking good there it want be long before you can go down the road.

Good to see you back at it again Div. I like the rear ford sign as you got it now...Cool contrast with the blue...Thank you for sharing
Hey ISH. Thanks man. Shop expansion is taking quite a bit of my time. But will be worth it!
@@ratrodsafrica Yes you right, will be good not to have to deal with the mud. We waiting for the videos...lol.
I still haven't sorted out my pc.
Bud that looks awesome I love the patina look
Thank you Brandon. Glad you like it!
Beautiful! Love the perportions, and love the stichting and patina! Well done Div!
Thank you Sir!
Perfect!😎
Thank you for always being you original duff I have enjoyed every video that I have watched with you !!!! Changing your mind is the options that enjoy about the videos !!!! The grill and exhaust and Frenched stacked tail lights are awesome another awesome build on its way to the finish line 😀 lol
Thanks man. I'm too old now to be anything but myself! Haha
Awesome
Pure art! 👏👏👏
Thank you!
I love your stitch look. Very unique!
Thanks Dan. Can't claim that I invented it though...
Really a good looking truck Div
Thanks brother!
Like I say , very cool . Build On
Thank you!
Love it 😃👍
I agree about clear coat looking to new. The tailgate reminds me of the trim that was optional, only rat rod style. I love the big letters.
Glad someone agrees with my opinion about clear coats!👍
@@ratrodsafrica i also agree with clear coats.
Flames🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great job. I love the patina look and I agree with you on not liking the shiny paint. Your mods on this truck are so well done. Love the tailgate
Thank you Sir! Shiny paint causes stress!😂
you've done a awesome job on it! It looks great! can't wait to see what you do for the bumper, maybe match it to the grill you made somehow.. whatever you do... i think it's wayyy cool man! NIce work!
Thanks man! I have an idea for the front bumper, but so far no clue about what I'm going to do in the back...
The wells look great!
Thank you Michael!
Great to see it evolving and nearly finished 👏 great work
Thank you very much
All looks great to me well done👍
Thank you Tony!
Coming together well. Softening the Patina looks awesome
Thank you Doug!
Good choice ..no clear 👍
I frigging hate clear coats!!😅
Tailgate and taillights look awesome. Are you going to treat tailgate with pool acid? Or just let mother nature work on it?👍🇨🇦
Thanks man. I like the bare metal look, so coated it with boiled linseed oil to keep the rust away. Did the same with the steel front grill
Keep the tailgate just as it is
Hi Div , I like all the patina videos there interesting . I was wondering about using some kind of acid wash on bare metal have you thought of this too ? I know Waylon wire youtube channel has used uric acid to add patina to his rat rods . Well just a helpful thought maybe.
I have used swimming pool acid and hydrogen peroxide in the past to create some instant rust. Check this video: ruclips.net/video/vsu3LaMAN0U/видео.html
It looks awesome💕💕💕💕 can i have it😂😂😂😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks Ian! Sure you can have it... in exchange for a few dollars! 😁
hey man sweet stuck loved how it turned out. what color blue is that i have a 76 f150 i want to paint that blue
Thanks! No idea what the specific color is called. I just picked a color swatch at the paint shop and got them to mix it up for me
Cool channel
I'm busy with mine, What wheels are you using??
Thanks Kris. Couldn't find rims with correct PCD, so I'm using the 15 x 8j rims the truck came with. Check out this video about the tires I used: ruclips.net/video/gFjAtL-a-D4/видео.html
Please email me some pics about your build (if you want). Collecting pics on F series builds for a future video. Send to ratrods4africa@gmail.com
Hey div can you use the wire brush bit on your drill with the stitches?
Yes, no problem
nice i have a 1994 ram 2500 which is white needs paint would really like to patina it not sure how to make a white one work
This truck used to be white. Sprayed a coat of black, then red oxide, then the final color.
You wouldn't have to worry about a high gloss clear coat if you used all high gloss paint on every coat without any clear coat. Your method is near perfect to get the desired look but high gloss paint along with better body work would look outstanding.
Question please? Where did you get the big ford lettered tailgate panel? Looking through the videos an I haven’t found it yet.
Hey Samuel. It was part of the original tailgate. Check out the video CUSTOM TRUCK BED BUILD - FORD F100 (Part 3) : ruclips.net/video/8FTqW8_45vk/видео.html
A year later, what happened to part 3?
Here is part 3:ruclips.net/video/me2uQnK1ZjQ/видео.html
Where are the bedside steps??
Still had to fit them when the video was made
Love the look. I understand about clear coat but it would look great clear coated. Just my opinion. You know what they say about opinions, they are like assholes, everybody has one and they all stink!
Thanks Kenny!😂yes, but I do think we are all entitled to our opinions. If we all liked the same stuff, the world would be a boring place! Each to his own man! 👍
remove those fake exhaust pips ... otherwise I like it
Thanks Bruno, I'm considering that...
Do you know how to build a car without stiches
A strange question and wondering what you are trying to achieve? But to answer you question, yes Sir, I do. Restored many classic cars in my time and were building glossy restomods and street rods as far back as the 1980's
that is a mean ford you have turned into a ratrod my country is new zealand we have totaly fkd up rules that rusty rides r a no no on our roades Bugger is all i can add
Ah man, what a bummer! I hear New Zealand has many restrictive rules...
Don't like blue, sorry young men.
