The Joe Hart vs Barcelona performance was extraordinary among this group by virtue of the sheer number of breakaway 1 v 1 stops. Unreal. And Tim Howard’s performance vs Belgium was unbelievable. He single-handedly kept the US in that game despite Belgium’s all-out relentless assault

Joe Hart's performance has to be one of the greatest goalkeeping performances around. Stopping Barcelona's deadly front 3 many times, the best trio in the world.
I saw Schalke Porto live back then, to this day the most absurd GK performance I've ever seen. So many worldclass saves in one game and then he tops it with the 2nd penalty. That was so well taken and honestly not savable but the height he reached that day. Legendary
Yeah, that first save is unbelievable...his leg is so long to reach that ball...
I will never forget that time, Neuer eliminated FC Porto.. by himself... we scored at the 86 minute to draw the two hands, but if it wasnt for Neuer, we would won the game easily by 4 or 5.. and Neuer made (at the time) his best exhibition and alone sent FCPorto home. For 14 years, Neuer is name in football i never forget.. what a fantastic goalkeeper, to me, he is one of the best ever GK.
Aside from the loss we should bare in mind the Tim Howard at the time was at the end of his career and was about 36/37 yet managed to break the record for the most saves in a World Cup game. One of the best GK performances despite conceding 2 goals in extra time
I mean at this point any loss of youthful energy he's encountering is MORE than counteracted by his sheer level of experience. Just brilliant.

Man I'll never forget that Tim Howard performance against Belgium. A shame the US couldn't have won that game (dammit Wondolowski) but that game is the reason why he's my favorite USMNT player of all time
Most save by GK in WC, fantastic stop from Tim Howard! What astonished me is that when playing at the world cup stage, so called "mediocre goalkeeper" tends to play well. Tim Howard, Ochoa from Mexico, and many others 👍👍👍
the amount of times that de Gea covered for an awful United defense….. legendary.
That said, out of these, I think Neuer vs Porto, Hart vs Barca, and Howard vs Belgium are the top three in terms of the number of great plays that they made. Hart was straight up tackling Messi 1v1 with his hands.
As a football lover i can say that Memo Ochoa and Igor Akinfeev are two of the most underrated goalkeepers of the last 10 years.

I'm not a manchester fan but I think De Gea is Man U's most underrated legend; he saves them a lot... It's same for every goalkeeper at every club, they are not as celebrated as midfielders and attackers.

It takes a lot of guts to push through this level of confidence against Brazil, let alone in the biggest stage possible. Glad I was able to see this game from the first to the last minute. i was at the edge of my seat the entire time!

First of all this is a brilliant video, I applaud you for these choices. I wouldn't add or remove anyone. Now, I've been into football since 1990 and I've never ever seen anything like what Neuer did against Porto. That first saw was unreal. Friend of mine from Lisbon who was on stands that night said that fans on the stadium literally silenced for a moment there. None of the saw anything like that before. What a goalkeeper he is, in my humble opinion best ever.

As an American we probably weren’t going to beat Belgium ordinarily but Howard performed so well, we were so close to pulling off the upset if Wondolowski didn’t mess the open net.
Agreed, as a Belgian I can confirm you were soooo close. Tim was a wall that day. The saves weren’t impressive, but he wasn’t gonna let anything pass and you saw the frustration in our players. Glad it’s in the vid, well deserved.
Even if we beat Belgium, we probably weren’t going to beat Messi’s Argentina. It was a great match nonetheless
people also forget the short freekick routine at the end of extra time we almost scored to tie it as well

Tim Howard for me. Against the best attacking side in Europe at the time. In the US he was called the secretary of defense. LOL. I also love when players from the opposing sides go and congratulate the opposing keeper on a brilliant display.

@@user-km8oh1ll5t technically Catholic, but only for the same reason anybody chooses a religion. Which is it was the only one I was ever told about. However my religious beliefs I had kinda went away as the logical next step when I was around 10 and figured Santa wasn't real. Years of Catholic school and other life experience and increased logical knowledge have so far only made my belief of no god stronger.

tbh The only reason I played football was because I was convinced to be a goalie. The idea of being the last man standing. The idea of defining a game and pretty much holding it's balance in your literal hands. I wish I was still able to play. But this video was really enjoyable and brought tears to my eyes at points. It pretty much encapsulates the emotion of soccer at least from a goalkeepers point of view. The passion the willingness to put your body on the line and do your absolute best no matter what. Most people will say that about most sports. However, football will always be the best sport in my heart I just wish I was still able to play. It is my passion, my first love, and hopefully the passion will stay with me until I eventually pass away. Thanks.... I loved this video
I was always the backup goalie so I played out unless our main goalie wanted a break. Nobody else would ever volunteer and this is on various teams from childhood through to adulthood. I can’t do any sports anymore, so I feel your pain. At least we can be grateful for the time we had, and we can enjoy videos like this probably on another level from people who have never played goalie. ⚽️🫡
