I thought this was going to be a discussion of how even the Dwemer, despite all their clever machinery, must also be struck blind when they interpret a runed lexicon. No amount of technology can shield a person from the debilitating effects of the scrolls. It's the mind itself drawing closed, as one reads yet another world-shattering revelations, that causes the blindness. But this is good too.
wow I own the Ancestor Moth Swarm pet in ESO. They are not considered flying pets, but are exotic. "The ancestor Mother that accompany some mystically -attuned mortals are more than mere inspects - they are animated by the loving spirits of the dearly departed, and may grant wisdom and awareness to those they visit." -Sister Terran Arminus. Thank you for showing me the back story to the pet I always have out
@Ghost Queen Returns yes. It’s great for both singleplayer and multiplayer content. The new expansion that comes out soon is adding companions which really improves singleplayer content because now loners can have a follower help them out during their time playing. I highly recommend you play ESO if you’re a fan of The Elder Scrolls.
I always thought the blindness was related to my own bit of headcanon that the scrolls are the games source code, and NPCs reading the scroll therefore learn that they exist in the game and dont loose there sight but simply learn that they never had any to begin, instead of seeing the beautiful images the game generates for the players character, the NPC learns it's all 1s and 0s and the illusion of the game is broken for them rendered them functionally blind. Alternatively one could learn and us the power of knowing the truth to become a God if they could learn to alter the code to their whims This might also explain the disappearance of the dweamer as be as logical and as technically advanced as they were as a race learning to be NPCs would have been quite a rude awakening, to learn that all there advancements were for nothing it would make sense for them to willingly remove themselves from the game.
I agree, I think that the 6 walking ways and specifically CHIM are also methods that elevate the PC or NPC to knowledge that they are essentially within a simulation (ie a video game). I like how meta it is, and the obvious IRL parallels. Also the dream of the godhead reminds me of this as well.

Being blind myself, I kind of appreciate the Moth Priests and their concept. Although I have no sight-memory, I can understand how such a trade-off would work.
yes you can. the dragon born does it 3 times in skyrim and we also see in skyrim that the dwarves could read the scrolls just fine without paying any cost at all.
They may not be able to physically see, but they can still hear, probably better than before, & they can *feel* the movements of the universe. If someone or something were to attack them, they would definitely be able to defend themselves.
From what we know the katana is an Akaviri/Blades weapon. Perhaps because the Blades were also a prestigious order within the Empire. Association as a weapon of finesse and study.
I know the secret of who wrote the scrolls and how are they brought into existence will always be a mystery. I like to speculate that time is not linear except for in Mundus. That when a being from Oblivion is trying to actually interact with Mundus that they never truly know when they are. By placing artifacts or choosing vessels and Champions they try to anchor themselves in-line with Mundus but as mortal life is fleeting they can truly never hold a presence. Now if Aetherius and Oblivion are not linear time and Mundus is, I believe that the fabric between Mundus and the outer realms creates the Elder Scrolls as a means to fix the time differential between the realms. What we believe is telling secrets are not so, but actual key pivotal information on when the realms align. This could be an event, an item, a person, anything. The scroll is then a blueprint of what and how that one variable can be a focal point between the very fabric of reality. When and how they actually appear is only based on the choices of beings, be it a mortal, Daedra, Aedra even as insignificant as a Mudcrab. It is all fluid and ripples can happen from the tiniest of breezes. What I would like to know is what happens to an Elder Scroll after the event happens? Does it fade from existence or does it remain? If the event is thwarted or even prevented from happening, what then? The Elder Scroll that speaks of Nerevar being reincarnated as an outsider, what if someone actually prevents that from happening by confronting Asura or however else? Food for thought.
The Moth Priests have been around for a long time yet we haven' t seen the Empire make use of their services. You would think if they had an order that can prophesize the future they would want to make use of it.

Dwemer inscribed the information into Lexicons. I've been thinking about this for years, but where are the others? There is no way they had a machine devoted to recording info from the Elder Scrolls and not use it 24/7. Somewhere out there is a vault full with Lexicons, or something akin to a huge server with all the knowledge stored on it. Imagine any of the races finding it atm, while having the knowledge to access and read them.
Now that's an interesting crossover I'd pay to watch/play. If you think about it, couldn't you say that Daedric artifacts are sort of like SCPs themselves? Barbas would be a perfect candidate for an SCP

Heres a theory I just had. You are a moth preist. You the player, you are not the dovakin, hero of kvach, or any of that. You are simply reading all the possible states. This explains the save mechanic, that the old save file was a possible path the protagonist is. It explains all decisions as well. The only was to make all desicions truly cannon is if you were a moth preist reading how it could be.
Ahh the lore master again graces us with wisdom of the elder scrolls,i do find one irony tho i wish to say and see what i gains as a result;what if we take the title and actually apply it to the elder scrolls as a whole itself XD i mean those just coming to the game and those who know the lore know the series alone has been one of many mysteries and mind-bending thoughts.

Gosh I've been watching fuge since my junior year of high school and I'm now 21 and seriously you guys are easily in my top 3 elder scrolls RUclips channels i like each take on every video even if I don't agree seriously thank you scrolls drew and Michael for keeping me entertained throughout all of the years and especially 2020 lol that perryite video almost had me believing he created corna lol but seriously you guys rock keep please don't leave RUclips anytime soon cause the world is so much better when a fugemuppet video comes out
Thanks for a great video to mitigate an otherwise crappy week. 👍
Fudgemuppet should cover the whole life story of our beloved Serana, talking about her Past, Present and Possible future!
Great video! Thanks for uploading!
When I have panic attacks I listen to any of fudgemuppet videos to keep my mind occupied.
So the flutter of ancestor moths would technically be tonal magic? 🤔
Like the dwemer... You think their tonal magic mimicked that of the ancestor moths? Maybe that's how they "read" Elder Scrolls?
The Law of Equivalent Exchange.
can you investrigate the connection between Lord Harkon and the Mythic Dawn cult? he has one of their banners in his "study"/ coffinroom?
Sorry I'm late, Drew. I needed to find a swarm of ancestor moths so I could watch your video ;p
How badass would it be to have cloths that changed and sang song as you moved. Too cool
The last time I was this early, Mirak wasn’t a Dragonborn!
Was there ever a time before creation of time?
Does anyone else wander how the grey fox used the elder scroll to break the curse of the grey cowl without going insane or blind?
Y'all are the best elder scrolls channel, then camel works.
They truly look like "blind" old men in Antigone (or all green mythology).
Only the blinds truly see
Tip: Read the Scrolls with one eye at a time to read twice as much.
IT WAS THE HUB!!!
I scream from a padded cell
I wonder if there was an Elder Scroll in the SCP universe if they'd be able to protect against the blindness with cognitohazard blocking goggles.
Now that's an interesting crossover I'd pay to watch/play. If you think about it, couldn't you say that Daedric artifacts are sort of like SCPs themselves?
Barbas would be a perfect candidate for an SCP
@@mitsukitai2713 No it's not. It's shitty fan fic. Don't give the OP praise, for an idea anyone could come up with, but would instantly throw away.
Temple of xrib I think it was just a sewage facility also that fallen centurion statue by the stairs the way down was a hallway upside down due to the great collapse
Hahahaha this came out on my birthday 🤣 definitely gonna watch the entire video
Does the content of a given Elder Scroll effect the rate at which a Moth priest will go blind?
Infinities can be both countable and uncountable.
Dwemer: Hold my scryer.
I prefer the Will to Power to the Will to Peace. Guess that's why I'd probably be a Daedric cultist if I lived on Tamriel. I'd more than likely be a follower of Maerunes Dagon, Hircine, or Boethia.
I read the tittle and thought it was about Fudgemuppet’s patreon.
I can do housework and listen to this
Its amazing
I sort of thought the title was trying to say that there were extra lore in other merchandise.
I thought the title referred to the game series and was ready to believe that some story details are locked behind paywall.
I just listened to the first 3 minutes and I feel like I could have meditated to it
Can a Dragonborn read a scroll?
We've been to Sovngarde, so it exists.
Knowledge is power but it can also be a curse👌
Totally not related to video, but I have a question. Which elder scrolls equivalent would count as say feudal Japanese or perhaps imperial china? I thought it would have been the akaviri but have they ever been shown?
The blades bases like cloud ruler temple were build by the akaviri I think so comparing them to real world cultures I think most people say it’s Japanese but I don’t remember exactly
@@plate_fox Yeah exactly. I really think Bethesda should add them in ESVI for more character choice. I mean heck there is like 5 different variations of elves
Well the first named character in all of Elder Scrolls was Shinji the founder of the arena
Safe to say Bethesda is pretty weeby
Lore wise, Akavir is 100% the Asian country counterpart for the Scrolls verse
OH MY GOD DREW'S VOICE IS GOOD NOW
Hey im finaly awake.
From my nap. While on standby with the rest of my platoon.
