Very interesting for someone like myself who has never served. Thank you for your service. I remember as kid seeing my father's Army Basic Training graduation photos and he had Navy Dolphins on his Army uniform. He had inlisted in the Navy and was on a sub prior to inlisting in the Army.
Its worth noting that the SF patch is like the ranger or sapper tab in the respect that once earned you can wear it with any patch Regardless of component.
@@trottheblackdog its a both. If you're in SF assigned to SF you wear that. However if you switch units or go to the reserve which has no SF units. You still wear the Special Forces Tab. I meant tab initially but the sworded airborne patch can be worn by anyone in that unit
Another badge awarded for combat action, specifically for field medics is the CFMB (Combat Field Medic badge.) Looks like the CAB but with a litter and caduceus symbol in the center, and wreath around it. The medic badge in your video is the EFMB - expert field medic badge, which is a qualification badge that is earned by passing a test, much like the EIB - expert infantryman's badge.

Matt, thank you for your service. Very informative video, but where I think it could've been improved a great deal is if you had an actual ACU/OCP uniform shirt with all the patches and badges on it. Showing pictures of a patch and then pointing on your black t-shirt where each would go (if you had the uniform on) is kind of insufficient. Military rules on patch/badge placement are often exacting and so it would've been more illuminating to have seen these things on an actual uniform.
Thanks for the in depth badge/patch info. It's very informative and I hope to see more. Isn't the cib patch something very important cause i see in movies and tv and John Wayne wearing their green fatigues and on their blouse usually the only 2 subdued patches they wear is the CIB and or the parachute patches. I was at the pool with my little daughter some years past and their was a vacationing soldier with his kids next to us and he had a tattoo of the CIB over his heart so that's what I was wondering. So thanks for explaining this.
Dude Matt I just looked up you MOS and it says you are the guys who tell people what to do? Like Overlord in Modern warfare 2? Are they going to call you OVER-WARD? Lol
Interesting video, I thought that it was going to be an explanation of how to recognize rank of fellow soldiers, seems like that is the most important thing to look for first.
I was waiting for the explanation of where the rank is positioned. I have never liked that the rank was moved to the chest area. It was much better when it was worn on the collar along with the branch insignia on the other collar. I don’t think there is any place for the branch insignia on the current uniform. Why?
Many soldiers consider bad luck to wear your current-earned combat patch while still deployed to that combat deployment. In all honesty it is considered to be in bad taste.
I learnt the uniform is divided into two halves . Left side for the SERVICE (it's takes all patches and insignias given by the service) and the right side is for PERSONAL (It take all patches and insignias acquired personally by marksmanship and course and other trainings) please how true is that. Lastly why the flag should be on the right. Thank you
