Hi Steve, I watched your vid regarding making a sedimentary rock face. Here in England pizzas purchased in supermarkets often come on circular discs of polystyrene about 1/8" or 1/4" thick. I cut these into something like 2" strips and shape the front edges if each piece by cutting small pieces out randomly. With enough pieces prepared I then assemble them in layers to the length and height I require. With all the front edges cut and shaped, when layered on top of each other the straps create good looking sedimentary layered rock. Loose rocks/boulders/plants etc can then be scenicked on to the creation. I don't use plaster of Paris on the rock face I just use paint etc to give texture

I'm not a rail guy I build 1/35 dioramas but this info is invaluable. BTW, I'm pretty lazy, is GI Joe available for hire and would he like to work here in Australia?
Hi - does this work with 3.75in Real American Hero G.I. Joe figures, or is it specifically the doll style ones? Are the British Action Man variants just as good to work with as well? I'd like to know so I don't waste any of my Faery-Dusten.
How expensive is it? I'm trying to make a fake cave wall set for a movie and I need a lot of material, so I'm looking for the cheapest solutions. Could I glue it on top of regular styrofoam to give it some thickness?
I have a lot of foam to cut and shape into scenery pieces, So, I was wondering, I have some Home Brown Latex paint, Could I mix that paint with white glue, say PVA type to paint my scenery pieces the base coat and have it seal it also, so the next few colors won't soak into the foam so much, Also, can you paint Acrylic on top of home Latex paint, with no issues of deforming details in the foam?
Latex paint is almost the same at the acrylic paint. I wouldn't mix the glue with it; it would be too thick and wouldn't get into the cracks. The Latex paint is a good base to cover the foam, but I wouldn't use it on the rock face unless you thin it down a bit.

I'm actually in the Packaging industry and deal in a lot of different types of foam. The pink and blue foam is actually EPS - Expanded Poly Styrene. The white (Bead Board that you refer to) is EPP - Expanded Polypropylene. I find it messy to work with, but it is cheaper and would be OK as a filler.
Watch out for the fumes from hot knife cutting of some foams. I try to do as much of that work as possible outdoors. Some of the fumes can be rather toxic, and no, I don't know which.

Better use protective gloves ti avoid accidental cuts
You need a good hot knife.
I have one now. It's a little slower and wouldn't be good for slicing into the foam like a sharp knife.
