Female lead vocals (presumably in this order): Erica Masini [01:32], Sara Corso [03:02] & Piera Arena [04:10] -in case anybody is googling these women.
Such a great song. Breaks the language barrier as silent films did and so other actors until this day. The greatness of the art is limitless. A platform song that gave place and time to so many vocalists to express their unique talent as is every every performance.

A great version. just takes the emotion and rides it. Nailed in my opinion. Love the ad libs to make it personal. no complaints whatsoever from this Floyd fan. Kudos to all involved.
Fantastic job. People who complain about this need to understand that Claire Torry was creating something original. All others are imitating, and will inherently be different. The notes may be spot on, the timing perfect, but there is that "something" in creation that is always missing in imitation. That doesn't mean the imitation is bad or has no value.
+mcpaplus... It was interesting that Clare really didn't know what she was doing or what the song was about when she cut her version. She did well with the concept musically but put little effort into the actual song. She walked out on the band after 3 or 4 quick cuts and was rather disinterested. The Great Gig In The Sky was first named Mortality Sequence and was about the feeling and fear of going into death. The heightened level of emotion in the first girl in this version fit the song way better to me. You could feel the fear. I think given more effort Clare could have done a better version herself.
Agree entirely....Claire was the original,she was SUFFERING,man, and she really MADE that song and NEVER got any credit- Infuriating.
The rock machos treated her like shit.They ought to make up for it.
yep....ive listened to many covers of this song.... So difficult to pick the best, all have a subtle difference, yet hold musical value! Wonderful stuff, Pink Floyd's music lives on through stunning performances like this one!
A kinda rock opera song. It can be what you want it to be. Sad,happy,moving,reaching....etc
Yes there is always something missing. Here, they miss the soul of the song, that is everything.
Decent job from this cover band. Very difficult song for a woman to recreate Clare Torry vocals. Even Torry would never get it right ever again since it was about that moment of time when she went to record it. Since Torry made it all up (according to her & the band) since Richard Wright had the this beautiful tune. But no lyrics.
That's why you can hear this song (from original Dark Side) time & time again & feel the same each time & time again.

I do believe, this is the next best thing to the original. This song has always brought me to tears, when listened to quietly alone, and your rendition is no different. Bravo!
I'll give them full points, really you got to have some chops to even come close to making this work and doing this instantly brings comparisons to a legend like Clare Torry who in a magical moment with Pink Floyd gave us this incredible sound that sings to your soul, and renditions by people like Sam Brown and Ola Bieńkowska. To make it work you need to let fly with every emotion and feeling you have ever had or can find and then somehow control it, so its smooth as silk and yet totally vulnerable. This is truly the domain of a female voice, no man could sing this.

I'm a massive Floyd fan and appreciate most attempts to replicate the masters. From the talented voices to the perfect slide guitar, to arranging all contributions, they do a very respectful attempt and I applaud you.

Claire Torry made a one of a kind spontaneous masterpiece that can't be recreated!
While this rendition is very very good, Torry gave the world a one of a kind deep moving soulful touching song.
Still brings strong emotions to me after listening to it hundreds of times no other song does that nor probably will ever will again!
there have been a couple of girls that sang with Brit Floyd that were equally good..I heard them live and they were fantastic so maybe you can rethink your statement
And most of the covers it takes two or three girls to do what little Clair Torry did!
To think that Claire Torry had no notes, directions, just her own intuition makes her version out of this planet.
@@camoral66 , right you are on Clair's out of this world, (first and second take, but she said she stopped on the third take) performance. Others do a grand job of copying her amazing spontaneous creation, but I'll say her's has a singular emotion that has quite possibly never been equaled.

Spectacular. I must confess I was worried for the first vocalist when the higher notes were coming, and I was blown away that she belted it even stronger at those moments. Many would shy away from them and drop an octave, but both here were beautifully done. Between them and the slide guitar, I could just close my eyes and sit for hours with this on repeat. Thank you!

IMHO A certain amount of passion ("scream") is called for in these vocals, since the song is about the soul being torn from its last hold on the body and being set adrift into the dark unknown (i.e., death).

I've listened to many versions of vocalists attempting to recapture Clare Torry's original rendition. agreed with comments regarding how she didn't know what she was doing/ what the band wanted from her (look into the interview where she discusses her "baby, baby" approaches and them telling her it wasn't meant to be that sort of vocalization). regardless, each of these ladies have powerful voices that have been influenced by Torry and are, indeed, significant tributes to her and Pink Floyd.
