HC is absolute right. Practice any religion of his choice of faiths, is fundamental. But Its abnoxious forceful convertions from Hindus to Christianity and Muslim religion,is condemnable. It's time for apex court to do course corrections on its own.This will go a long way. Analysis is immensely educative.
And what about forceful conversion to Brahmavad, is that allowable? What about forceful conversion to Buddhism?

Actually, no one can convert anyone other force. People are not stupid. People choose on their own whatever they want after listening to many faiths in their lifetime. And they themselves choose to come. The local religious leaders are heartbroken because of this and try to twist the laws to their demands using their influence of majority and the court. And that's what we see here.
Conversion itself is inherently divisive and promotes intolerance. The process involves demeaning another belief system. Proselytizing is actually akin to primitive behavior or mischievousness. The means used are often coercive or incentivized. Freedom to proselytize is therefore very much a criminal activity. The teaching of sanatan concepts are universal and ALL indians should become aware of this as a measure of their liberation and freedom of thoughts without constraints of dogmatic teachings.
Forceful conversion or conversion for pecuniary gains are inherently divisive and not conversions by choice. I can argue till the cows come home that most accusations are out of hate by vested interests & politicians fearful of losing their votebank and who otherwise would not even spend a second looking at you if you went to them for help. If I see someone like a drug addict/alcoholic who has lost his/her way and I want to show him the proper path in the way I know and he ends up rehabilitated and following my belief system - why is the conversion law stopping me? If you wish to convert him please go ahead - who is stopping you. As an individual I have a right to try different belief systems to understand which suits me the best. So cani I accuse the previous religion/religious authorities that I followed of trying to convert me? What if I do? How willl you judge if a person has forcefully converted another? To stir trouble I can invite some religious person to my house and say he attempted to convert me? Or my family hating me can call the authorities alleging "I am being converted" Who is going to tell right from wrong here and dispense justice? I can be helping someone for months to come out of a vice and that person who everyone has abandoned now wants to join me helping others. Will this be conversion?
There are many questions social , ethical and political that require reasoning and debate. Religion is a private matter and its best that the government stays out of it.
Government should stay out of it BUT ensure it is not manipulated by divisive forces. Hundreds of millions of innocent lives have been butchered in the name of these religions. There can NOT be a blank cheque in the name of freedom. Have seen a lot of mischief in the name of religions. History is the evidence. @@sibymathew311 I am talking from experience I myself was part of an NGO that used to go out to every home and ask them to read a para from the Bible and explain that to them and ask them to join Christianity because that was the only true religion. So don't tell me about the bad side of Christianity because I am a Christian myself and know what is happening. When I questioned them on why we were asking people to take up Christianity I was told that is what the western money was coming in for. So don't you dare take that holier than thou attitude with me. I walked out of that NGO and stopped volunteering. Christianity out of Europe spread only because of slavery & colonisation. There should be clear cut anti conversion laws to stop demographic changes in this nation.

That is what Sanathana Dharma says. God is one and names and forms are many. You can practice any name and any form. All forms are equally powerful. You can worship any form suits to your mind. No body can convert another person s religion by coercion or deceit or by allurement. Even if done it will be temporary that person can always go back to his earlier practiced faith. Conversion is spiritual and once a person is convinced that this faith leads to true God then nobody can stop that person, not even laws. Christians preach the gospel because it was commanded by Jesus and preaching is part of Christian faith.
