@@sheeshman9713most athletes that speak it secondarily just take a while to get comfortable to speak in front of that many people outside their native tongue. They definitely work on learning it and speak it casually, but it’s a big step up doing it in front of so many people live.
@@jortor3337 you’re right. I remember Chael Sonnen making fun of Anderson Silva for using a translator at press conferences when he could already speak English fairly well.
But it makes sense, because being able to understand/speak English well enough to comprehend questions and articulate well in a high-pressure and distracting situation like a press conference is completely different than having a simple casual conversation. Even native/fluent speakers often struggle with public speaking.
