This has to be my favorite one in the series aesthetically. Like how it looks and sounds and doesn't have the excessive amounts of anime as later entries. Such good music. All of them have excellent music, but this one just has such a 90's charm.

Yo! Jaimers used my suicide strats on Hibachi! Makes sense, given that he is using black ship, which makes hibachi's final attack more aggressive than blue ship.
No matter how many videos and times I see it... The final boss battle against Hibachi is the most exciting moment of the game!! Scoring in Loop 2 is a total mastery
"Only two big mistakes" he says... Great run to watch. I'm sure you're asked this a lot, but how do you record your shmup runs in such high quality? I can't hope to match the scoring potential but I'd love to be able to record my medium achievements without stretching or filtering.
The entire process is too long to write in a youtube comment, but I record lossless in OBS or Dxtory and then upscale to 1440p with point or nearest-neighbor scale filtering in Megui.
Excellent run. In your view, what are the things that make up the difference between this and the C-L record of 790M? (And the A-L record of 862M) The lives lost seem an obvious one, but between that and the two big mistakes you cite I don't see 150M.
The C-L 790m and A-L 862m used a glitch that the players that know it kept secret (BUT Someone outside the agreement found it a few days ago and is going to make it public soon) Other than that, there's some chain breaks in this run that are possible to avoid (most notably Stage 5, it's actually possible to full chain) and you can get just a few more hits out of each chain. There's also a 712m A-L video, which demonstrates some more optimized strategies but still misses some things (most notably the Stage 5 full chains) ruclips.net/video/GbWR1m5OPUA/видео.html
How is he playing this? Is this running on an emulator or is it some release of the game that I can't find? I'm asking because of the border and various mini-displays.
Yes, they do. Suzaku is the Stage 1 Boss with twin gunner pods. Senkou is the Stage 2 Boss that's a tank. Kakou is the Stage 3 Boss that looks like a flying saucer. Raikou is the Stage 4 Boss with the double laser cannons. Rankou is the Stage 5 Boss armed to the teeth with missiles. Ryuukou is the Stage 6 Boss that looks big and tower-like. Hachi is the gigantic bee mecha that is Hibachi's container. And of course, Hibachi is the True Final Boss that is a flaming bee.
I want to love this game, but I hate how you have to tap the Shot button. I know you can use turbo, but then you can’t use the Laser. So it’s one or the other it seems. Kinda shitty
The Special Demo of this run is finally out! Congrats again, and good luck getting that scoring glitch to soar even higher! ruclips.net/video/F7U5nbcb5Zs/видео.html
from the description: I used the player 2 side for this run. Player 2 has a couple of differences: - The 2-3 midboss is much, much easier. All of the fast bullets are removed for some unknown reason. Makes it much less luckshit. - Hibachi's final has zero slowdown, making it much, much harder. - Small stars get carried over between stages but you lose all of them if you die. This gives you like an extra 2 or 3 million if you no-miss to 2-7. Basically Player 2 makes it easier to get the full maximum bomb bonus in exchange of making Hibachi a bit harder.
Wikipedia refers to Hibachi's container in Dodonpachi as Hachi, which means "bee." Each container for Hibachi has a different name. Hachi in Dodonpachi, Kouryuu in Daioujou, and Golden Disaster in Resurrection. Also, a "Neo" Kouryuu in Sai-Daioujou. Plus, Taisabachi in Donpachi.

Raikou be all confused.
if he didn't he'd have to face phase 2 of the boss, which is a nasty RNG nightmare
Congrats on Western World Record!

They are worth very little in the grand scheme of things and are not worth going out of your way to get. Especially if it gets in the way of chaining.

Is the penultimate boss really called "big bee?" XD
I mean...the game's title becomes personified at the end, so, yes?
Technically, its name is Hachi, which translates to "Big Bee."
Lance Curry The full name of it is "さいしゅう きちく へいき" - don't know where you get "Hachi" from.

Lance Curry Where is the name "Hachi" derived from on that page?"
A quick question, why do many scorers prefer to use 2P side in the 1997 version? I only know Daioujou well so sorry if this question sounds like noob.
BTW, for the st1 midboss, is it inevitable to loss the chain?
