  • Hello everyone! I'm making this video as you have all asked for it. I think the "Drama" is one-sided and pointless and could have been prevented if someone had made good business choices.

Alright, hear me out, he's 100 percent wrong but morally, she DID do something bad. How far do you go to support influencers or how long do you let go of this kinda thing? Especially when she has been commiting legal and moral wrongdoings... Ik it's a small thing, but in the big picture, things add up.
Don't get me wrong, I do respect your opinion a lot, I don't disagree with you completely, just putting up a different perspective.

    • @nicolehawley912

Probably because people are quick to try to school influencers on what they're doing wrong, not realising they're already running a successful business which takes time. I'm glad people's eyes are open on this one.

Good accounting practice is to have enough “seed” money before you dive into a business enterprise. As I see it, this gentleman was trying to cross the river before reaching to the bridge. He caused his own mental stress with his own decisions and worst, the fact that he publish his frustration give a taste of malicious intent towards Michaela. I don’t think that influencers will want to conduct business with an unstable & emotional person as such.

The thing about the first video of Mikayla reviewing Bondi Sands is that there was only 4 days between his video requesting she review his brand and her BS review. Anyone who knows anything knows that this isn’t enough time for BS to reach out to Mikayla’s mgmt, work out a deal, sign contracts, make a video, and then post it. That process would take a couple of weeks even being rushed. He was grasping at straws from day one.

I'm sure he'll make back the loan money with his drama, but longterm his business will likely not grow much being backed by him, between his poor and entitled decision making skills and his new reputation for them. Perhaps a similarly drama-oriented brand will pick it up (down the road) but that makes me fully belive that the uniqueness and whatever innovative aspects of this product & quiz, and even the niche in the market will suffer and it will become an easier cash grab than one brand duping the concept but not the branding or quality (alleged quality lol).
Kind of a shame, but I do think pushing for more inclusivity in natural-leaning standards of beauty (nothing wrong w orange imo but it's a bit specific to fake tan 😂) is a slow-moving but organic movement. It's hard to care about the environment and human health and appreciation of nature and beauty and also make big strides in this global economy. Of course, we are a part of nature's beauty ourselves whether leaning toward "natural" or "artistic"/"glam" looks--Im not saying this in context of the pendulum swings in aethetics and all that, moreso pointing out the slow push in some places to disentangle the traditional ideals of beauty & financial chokehold from a realer attraction to and sense of beauty & a balance w natural resources. This is some of the reasoning for companies and people being drawn to the dreaded clean label/market/whatever--though it's abt $$$$ most of the time imo--but also about specific products that work well for you and make it easier to be confident that it will work. That's why it makes sense to me to have a large range of shades as long as they're well researched but it's greed pretending to preach 'Woke' if the actual shades suck; or how it's (small) innovation to have nondehydrating makeup but tasteless and even damaging to force the trend cycle hard left toward skincare in everything (not inclusive for sensitivity or even ignorance about what you may need or be sensitive to) and 'clean girl' + glowy what have you more quickly and abruptly than a natural trend cycle ime ...where you can't keep your former look bc everything's discontinued--or Jumped in price--or it's at least a little glowy. You've gotta be new, buy new. Everything's gotta dupe the next thing even at the same price bc they're forcing the trend a little too hard for much interesting to come up, let alone exist on a shelf a week without being duped. (I get the appeal tho in general). Now you have to look the same/trendy, and they regain control of the standard of beauty which very much does have more organic influences at the change of trends.(""They''''' ik lol sry). It sounds a bit conspiratorial, but it's more about looking for & writing off the obvious&subtle methods brands/media/bought out or excitable influencers jump down the throat of anything 'homegrown' to make it marketable within an acceptable (white, neurotypical passing, cis/straight/ally ig?? able-bodied not poor wife material feminine GiRL) beauty standard. The inlfuencers dont have to meet that standard, bc it's good to show ~a little~ diversity, but they have to be able to sell it. I'm not so much for pushing a new 'natural' trend I just feel invested in seeing what can happen from what ppl actually want, + not making 55 versions of it or the market trying to control major trends or profit immensely off of micro trends aka fads aka a natural passing interest. So I think this small business exists in this pattern, but this is a step outside of what I'm rooting for personally.
So sorry my brain stopped working outside of 'Rant and Run-on' abilities, but I hope some of it makes sense and I appreciate anyone who reads any of it. 😬😭😭

Agreed! And tbh, it wasn’t even about being fooled imo. (I don’t watch mikalyla, nor do I self tan) the moment I heard about his beef.., I felt he was in the wrong. Imagine spending 10k on the assumption someone would try out your product on camera and love it? What if she finally tried it out and hated it? This could’ve gone wrong for him in so many ways! He didn’t pay her for a sponsored post. (Nor could he afford too obviously) I saw some tea channel do a video on this topic too. I think the drama helped him sell his product without her review anyway tho… now, back to Roberts opinion!! Lol

But at the same time, the guy shouldn’t have taken the loan when he points out himself that he knew about her reputation (which is bad) beforehand and seen firsthand that she flakes out of the review that she kept promising.

I’ve been in the sunless tanning industry for over 20 years, and I have to call malarkey on the “different colors for different skin tones” bit.
The main ingredient in sunless tanners is DHA and that is what produces the change in skin tone. It doesn’t come in varying colors and there aren’t too many other ingredients that caused the kind of reaction DHA does that would produce long lasting color.
Companies are now adding different temporary dyes to the products to make it look a different color as it goes on but once you wash that bronzer off, you are left with the color that comes from DHA… A orangey-brown.
Now, you can adjust the percentage of DHA to be darker or lighter for different skin tones - but it’s just a different saturation of that same DHA orangey-brown color. You can’t make it say more green or red depending on someone’s skin tone - only lighter or darker.
There may be some temporary staining from the topical bronzer, but it washes off. It’s a gimmick.

Like, please sit down. But maybe the USA is behind in tanning the way they're behind in sunscreen - Australia reins supreme.

100% agree with everything you said. The guy wanted to guilt trip Mikayla into helping him, the sob story about being a small brand and then the mental health dig to get her to care about his 10k loan. And I say sob story because, ANYONE in business knows that marketing must have a budget, and even if Mikayla is disliked, she is an influencer and a business of her own- he just did not want to pay her. And I don't like Mikayla's content and care little about her dramas, but this guy is very manipulative.

  • @Mr_Tinez90
    @Mr_Tinez90 5 месяцев назад +208

    I'ma make a list of things I don't like about Michael's situation
    1. He didn't pay Mikayla, but was able to get a $10,000 loan, why not talk to Mikayla about how much her sponsorship would cost at a discounted rate, add that to your spending projections and insure a post by getting the loan and using a portion to pay for a day of her work?
    2. He asked her in October which would be the time of year where Mikayla is getting THE MOST brand deals because of Christmas which is a few months away.
    3. He made this video in January because he knows January, February and March are months when people have the least amount of money to spend, and wanted to capitalize off the drama because he didn't plan for the possibility she wouldn't review the product in the busiest spending season of the year.
    4. At the end he tells people that "if you don't have the money for the product share the post" but he supposedly has $10,000 in product he can't move, why not discount the product?
    5. If he isn't discounting product he has that isn't moving it only makes me think that if he couldn't sell to Mikayla's fans, he would sell to her haters.
    6. In Mikayla's text she says "I'll buy the product to review it" THIS MAN DIDNT EVEN SEND HER PRODUCT!!! HE EXPECTED HER TO PAY FOR HER OWN PRODUCT TOO!!!!

Some kids in my neighborhood set one up, and even though I wasn't invited to help, I was so eager to participate that I printed posters for the lemonade stand and put them up all over the neighborhood. I remember going over to the stand expecting them to welcome me with open arms, but they told me "we never asked you to make those", and turned me away 😂 I was bummed, but it taught me to never make an investment like that on assumptions and hopes.
