yeah, honestly that is the reason I don't care for them anymore. Not that I expect better from other brands, but problematic behaviour has to be called out when it's obvious
@@laurasenzthey are hit or miss in their quality. Some palettes are great, others are crap. Influencers who get everything in PR from them and have CP affiliate codes will always sing praises about every release, so I don’t trust their reviews from CP. I haven’t bought anything from them this year. They have become boring to me releasing the same palettes over and over, just different packaging 😂
When the Morphe stores were closing i saw quite a few tiktoks of Morphe employees going into work and finding out the store closed and they didnt havs a job anymore. Thats such a disgusting thing to do to people, and it happened in several states, so it wasnt just one store or a small group of stores that did that.
Yesss, I know someone that worked for the Morphe boutique in LA and they didn’t tell him absolutely anything whatsoever- he went into work and boom, store closed too. You would think they would respect him for working there since the location opened 🥺
In the restaurant industry you show up to work and then doors are locked that day. Employee theft is high and it can be hard to keep stores open bc employees know it’s closing and get new jobs right away so the store can’t always stay staffed to the end. Now, I think it’s horrible, it’s happened to me and Morphe sucks anyway but this action was not specific to Morphe. This happens a lot in retail and restaurants.
@falsiesnflannel375 and I wouldnt support any company that did that. It happening elsewhere literally doesn't change anything about it being a horrible thing to do to people. It's horrible no matter where it happens, and ive worked in the restaurant industry in 3 states and have never heard of any restaurant doing this to employees. Even if it did happen super regularly, it still does not change the fact that it's a shitty thing to do.
Morphe 2 is still a thing i saw it in Target yesterday 😂😂 I literally saw it and said "morphe 2 girl i thought you died" and the girl who was looking at their products started laughing with me, so im gonna just assume she cosigned that statement😂😂
I remember when Morphe was the “IT” company and they were never that good and I was very disgusted that it took them so long to cut ties with James Charles. I can’t believe they are even still an online brand or that they are still in Ulta.
I know. It's clear to me that the Morphe displays at my Ulta(s) are not getting shopped. The only good thing that they have left is their setting spray.
the fact that theyre still in ulta surprises me considering i have never seen a single person buy their products at my ulta while nyx and ELF are constantly having their new products sell out
I miss Stephanie Nicole so much. I didn’t purchase until I saw her reviews. I think she was too honest and too real - not just for RUclips but social media in general and ESPECIALLY the “Beauty Community (TM)”. She had that industry-insider experience that I valued.
Me too!! I'm so sad I can't go to her channel to make an informed decision anymore :( She was a BIG help since I live outside the US, and I can't afford to buy crappy stuff lol
I was a fan of Stephanie as well. She always did great research and she was so transparent you could trust her. I think she saw the likes of JH, JS & JC and thought nup, not being a part of that and moved on. I really hope she's happy and doing things she loves now.
In my opinon , the toxic side of the beauty influencers ruined the image of Morphe .They had some decent products but they didnt create their own image as a brand , they really thought that certain influencers following was instantly their following 😩Its sad because their basically a dying brand now
"...they didnt create their own image as a brand..." This. When the influencers they attached themselves to imploded their careers, Morphe had no image. And the store closings. Oof.
I miss Stephanie Nicole so much!!🥺 she was so damn knowledgeable and thorough with her videos. I do want to Thank you Robert cause you HAVE made me a better MUA!!💞
I think it’s no coincidence that every influencer Morphe worked with (Jeffree. James, Jaclyn) has fallen from grace at some point. The only one of that group (who didn’t work with Morphe), that is still beloved in people’s eyes is Tati.
When you mentioned about the palettes being too big for a make up kit, I instantly got reminded when RUclipsrs were obsessed with the Coastal Scents palette, way back in 2009 and onwards, and "beauty guru" was first coined before we had influencers. Simple times.
I really believe morphe is the reason every celebrity and influencer has their own skincare and makeup line..they saw how lucrative it was and had to cash in.. cosmetics is so profitable and they saw it and ran with it.
Robert's voice and intro music are both so soothing I'm always like, "Wait, did RUclips throw a guided meditation video into my auto play- oh wait, it's Robert! Well, slay, RUclips, I appreciate it 😂"
I think this is why brands like rare beauty and makeup by mario are doing well in general because they feel much more grounded and genuine. not every product feels like a quick cash grab but like a thought-out launch that is actually relevant to their audience.
Completely agree. Rare Beauty hasn’t ever felt like a cash grab to me and every launch of theirs is like, a single product made well. Versus a dozen ‘meh’ products at once. I also love that RB isn’t favoring only the top 1% of influencers for PR packages. I see loads of smaller content creators receiving PR from RB. Add in their mental health mission to all those factors and I’m basically a customer for life. I like authenticity and intention.
I think RB is doing so well because not only did Selina create the brand with amazing thought behind every piece but she's also an UP FRONT USER and knows why, and what every product does, what's in it, and so on. Plus she was great every time she was with Robert!
For Morphe to ever get a dollar from me again they would have to completely restructure and rebrand. To hell with the problematic influencers. They need to work with stable, competent, reliable, and uncontroversial makeup professionals. They also need to actually invest in their formulas. Less on paying the expensive influencers, more on the actual product people buy. ELF did it, Colourpop can do it as well. Clearly you can make and sell good formulas without also breaking the bank.
. The aha! layoffs show the business staff are to be dead to me. It’s a over saturated market. They offer no innovation or even eco packaging. Just buy elf , colourpop or profusion for that quality /price point. It’s no genuine loss.
I'm going to get a lot of flack for writing this, but...I have an MBA in marketing, and THE WORST thing Morphe did was dump Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Like him, or loathe him, JS drove foot traffic into the stores. Morphe was never the same.
Agree. You can hate him all you want (with reasons I understand), but getting rid of Jeffree Star was a complete mistake considering how popular his own brand is till this day
I’m certainly not going to give you flack. Putting his personality and past aside, he is a smart businessman who grew a multi-million dollar brand that consistently produces great products. They were stupid to drop him.
So basically exactly what Robert is saying. If they hadn’t relied so heavily on Jeffrey and other influencers in the first place they wouldn’t have been affected by their controversies
Can I just say that I hate that we call them influencers? They’re commercials. They’re selling you things. They’re just really good at selling a product as part of a larger lifestyle that they seem to love. But they’re still just commercials with legs. I love that Robert is so careful to emphasize influencer MARKETING
Commercials are influences though... Influenecer is a noun, commercial is an adverb. I get what you're saying, but it doesn't make sense to call a person an adverb.
Ask yourself what they are influencing to be called influencers. Sales. They influence sales. They influence people to buy things. That’s why they get product for free. It’s an investment by the company because if they make it look good, the product will sell. It’s always been advertising. That’s why they had to say whether they were sponsored after a while.
I used to work for them as a key holder and it was an extremely high demanding and stressful environment. The expectations led me to lose interest in makeup for almost a year after the stores closures from being so burnt out. The eyeshadow palettes also gave me reactions from the fact half the colors were pressed PIGMENTS and not real eyeshadow formulas. I learned a lot about professional artistry but after so long it took a while for me to want to re enter the beauty community
Could you do a deep dive of Kat Von D now KVD ? I think it's a good example of a brand tha went down for a while but managed to get back in the game! I used to dream about owning the Tattoo Liner, but then there was a lot of controversy with Kat Von D, and since her withdrawal I think KVD is doing quite ok ? Love your videos !!
I remember how MASSIVE Morphe was when I was in high school & shipping to Australia was so beyond expensive on top of how pricey the palettes already were with the currency conversion (pricey for me as a high school student). So when I saw Morphe on Beauty Bay I ordered my first Morphe palette in 2017 & almost cried when I received it because I was so beyond excited. Also, original plastic palette packaging too! & I still have this palette to this day 😅😂 I don’t use it, I mainly keep it for sentimental & “collective” reasons.
I find it sad how unaware of private label consumers are. I work in a winery that's recognised worldwide and wins awards and medals constantly. We have our own bottling facility and bottle and package not only our products but those of other highly regarded wineries. We will regularly do runs where we put the same wine under different 'names' sometimes, even private label runs with no label that can be bought by anyone to put whatever label they want on it. We have one contract client who is notorious for doing big runs where they put the same wine under half a dozen or more different labels. Each label is that winery but each one has a different name, a different 'story' and different flavour profile described on the label... and dare I say it drastically different prices. More expensive does not mean better. You learn that quickly working in production.
I used to LOVE Morphe. I still have two palettes from them (250 and 250? The second one). I think what really helped them in the beginning was the beauty community being smaller, companies releasing less products, and how the internet had a bit less of a hyper-specific algorithm. People would get the palette and you’d have so many tutorials on different eyeshadow looks to do. You got excited about products and there wouldn’t IMMEDIATELY be a “new and viral” product the next week. As a kid still learning about makeup, I ADORED the palettes. You could do a hundred different looks with one. They were affordable and their formula was really really good! I don’t think they’ve returned to that original awesome formula. I don’t think it’s possible for them to properly recover without a complete and total change of the entire brand. Even still, we used to be die-hards for specific brands. If you loved Urban Decay, you used their eyeshadows, eyeliners, concealer, foundation, etc.. Now, people care about the products more than the brands. You go to Juvia’s Place for eyeshadow, Nyx for lip liner, e.l.f. for concealer, and so on.
@mackennaomara4868 Now that's what I don't get about this. I have always been one brand excels at foundation, one brand excels at lip products, one brand excels at mascara, and I am not loyal to any single brand for everything because it's not usually good for everything. I've been this way nearly four decades, back when I was actually allergic to so many things in makeup(I still hate that Cover Girl made it popular to put salicylic acid in everything, as I am anaphylaxis allergic to it). I love trying new eyeshadows, lipsticks, and the like, but I near always return to my faves(Unless they decide to discontinue foundation for Olive skin tones that we've only been using for THREE DECADES--not naming names because I'm sure people are sick of hearing me talk about it like a skipping cracked Vinyl).
I love Beauty Bay! I got their big palettes on their 50% Black Friday sale and they are such a staple for me. I’m waiting for the next one so I can gift them to another person I know who loves makeup
YES! Came here hoping to find this comment! I have the OG JH pallet in the black packaging and I still love it and use it! I'm the only one that uses it and I clean it, whatever I don't care it's old lol. But yea, still one of my FAVE pallets!
They hooked up with problematic influencers SOoooo MANY times! The first time we can all say 'live and learn' but by collab number 3-10, everyone starts the side eyeing. The last things I bought from morphe were their XL palettes because they stopped selling singles and none of the new premade palettes appealed to me. Like that ridiculous 'tomato' palette. Y'know the one. 30+ shades of reddish orange but 2-3 greens? Who would buy that?!
As someone who only started consuming beauty content and playing with makeup in the last few years, when I think of Morphe I think of Jaclyn Hill. I think it would take a lot of work on Morphe's part to unlink their brand image from the problematic influencers they've partnered with in the past.
I think of James Charles so similar problem. And something about the way they looked displayed in Ulta and Sephora bored me to death. I can’t explain why. I just found even the prettier ones visually unappealing
If I remember correctly, Jacklyn was going to do a colab with make-up geek. They started putting together colours and the she messed around and ultimately dumped the colab for Morphe. She used the same colours in the morphe pallette that had been chosen for make-up geek. I was so vexed for Marlena.
100000000000% agree. Especially about the Pony palette. I work at Ulta so we get products a good 2-3 weeks before they release, and I was SOOOOO excited for that Pony collab because my kit has very few pastel shades and those looked sooo good in the palette and of course the marketing photos looked stunning too. I was so disappointed to find that not only were the shadows dry and flaky.. they also had basically no pigment. And before anyone says it, yes I know that in Korea, the very light natural look is popular.. and if that’s what they were going for, then the promo photos should reflect that.. instead she’s got this beautiful pink, purple, and blue eye look with little stars under her eyes, and they look so ethereal stunning, and PIGMENTED. I tried to recreate the look and I looked like I was using sidewalk chalk, and not even the good kind. Tragic.
@@_.iivvee._There shouldn't be a need to buy different coloured bases to hand-hold shitty eyeshadow - that's way more expensive than a new palette in most cases. I'd recommend a white base for almost anyone to make pastels/brights pop, buuuuut the shades need to be decent for it to work anyway lol
To be honest, I've always thought Morphe was an influencer community brand. They were pushing so hard morphe codes in all of their videos without disclosing their commissions. I'm not sad they are out of business. No interest in them, in Europe, they weren't essential. In the beginning I was thinking they were a Chinese brand because the multi color palettes were sold at Wish and Alibaba websites here in EU 😂😂
I would love to see you do a series diving in on influencers brands and wether or not you think it’s a successful brand and what they are doing right/wrong. I think you always make good points and would love to hear your opinion/thoughts on this! ❤
In my opinion people are becoming aware of their purchasing. They realised that they don't need every single palette or every single collection where the colour story just repeats each other. I've been loving the idea of small palette like the quads or the natasha denona small palettes. Buying small just tricks the brain that you're not splurging and have in control of your finance. Also, drugstore makeup now are to die for. The formulas are amazing for half the price.
Morphe had some good products. I love their setting spray. I think Morphe needs to have a brand redo. I miss Stephanie Nicole, her videos were always very informative.
Oh my gosh Robert, CONGRATS on 1 million subs, I didn’t know you passed it! So well deserved. When you asked what could Morphe do to make you buy them again, I immediately said “um, nothing” out loud 😂 The only way I would consider buying them again is if they exposed Jaclyn Hill. What she’s done the last few years is unforgivable in my eyes. I think I’ll just keep saving up to buy my gorgeous Lisa Eldridge products 😊
I would love a video to understand how Laura Lee and Manny MUA uncancelled themselves. No hate at all, but I don’t follow the tea and all I heard was that they had been involved with racism alongside Jeffree Star and then he’s cancelled but Manny’s brand seems to be going from strength to strength and getting lots of support, which cool! But how did they do that, when cancel culture is so rife these days?!
Just doing my own research right now.. I went on crown brushes and looked at their pallets and I recognised one of them immediately as the Jaclyn hill collab! I pulled up Morphe’s one and with a couple shade swaps.. ITS THE SAME EYESHADOW. I thought she’d picked them herself not been swayed to pick those shadesssss WHAT. Edit: you spoke about this so THANK YOUUUU
I'm so grateful for you, your brother, and your twin channel to have subtitles 😆 Thank you for the effort for the subtitles, you are one of youtuber that resides in english speaking country and insert subtitles in every videos, I'm really grateful as an English learner 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I appreciated what you got for the price point. My running group does adopt a family at Christmas. I was able to get a nice selection for a teen and it wasn't insanely expensive. Pallets and makeup have gotten so expensive.
Businesses closing without notifying their employees has become a whole trend in my area. I can think of five major ones in town in just the last 6 months. It's absolutely disgusting.
thank you for having such great closed captions on your videos. I have an auditory processing disorder so i *can* watch videos without them it just makes my life so much easier to have them. that being said: theres a typo at 12:49 in the CC, it says "thrm" instead of them. not a big deal especially compared to most YTers who only have auto-generated captioning but i just wanted you to know!
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought some eyeshadow pallets. I have never been more disappointed with make-up. Dusty, patchy with so little pay-off. I actually binned them after a few tries.
It’s interesting to see the back story to this. I had been gifted a mini morphe eye palette with 3 colors, a eyeliner pomade and a couple of brushes, and I loved them. The quality was there and those brushes are some of the best ones I have to this day. But when my eyeliner was finishing I went to restock and they didn’t have it anymore and all the testers I tried of different products just completely changed my opinion. It’s so sad to see a company crumble like that
When i first wanted to try makeup my sister had already been wearing makeup for a while and she told me definitely go Morphe because they made the best eyeshadows for the price. And back then it was true. It was either go to Urban Decay and spend a lot of money or get Morphe. And i was in college back then so like 😅 Morphe really had something but i guess now we can look back on it as an excellent example of lessons to learn
Seed Beauty is the parent company that used to own Kylie Cosmetics, KKW Beauty & Tati Beauty. They still own ColourPop, and they have the same founders (John & Laura Nelson - siblings). Seed Beauty was an offshoot of their father's makeup company Spatz Laboratories, which produced products for other brands.
Better quality and smaller sizes. I’ve got soooo much eyeshadow now that even if I do 6 looks each day for the rest of my life, I will never use it all. Thank you for shouting out Jen Love’s channel! I’m a fan of her deep dives into the legal and formulation aspects of the business .
Omg Stephanie Nicole!! I miss her videos. She was really good, breaking down ingredients and she tells you as it is. Loved her matte lipstick tests and ranking list. I hope she is well now. ❤❤
Me personally, I think that they should stop selling products with the awful influencers associated with them. As long as I see pallets with James Charles name on them, I want nothing to do with this brand. They need to dispose of all the current influencers associated with their brand and just start fresh. They also need to work on making the makeup ingredients better. Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Robert
Every single word used in this video was pure truth. I only buy Morphe brushes, because they have a good price and they do what I need them to do. Other than that, the only way to save themselves is like Robert said new formulas, and if they want collabs, do it with cartoons. Those can't get in a big controversy as humans do🤷🏽♀️
@@halo2dshe's just saying she likes her morphe brushes, she doesn't need someone trying to get her to switch just because it's something you would do. She didn't ask for other options.
@@Littlemissdirtbag are you always this rude, or just on sundays, or just when people offer a shopping tip? Do you always speak for other people? You are a giant miss.
Ultimate ll used to make the best color palettes! I started makeup artistry in 1994,, I have never found a makeup besides MAC, that came close to their quality but they were much cheaper price wise and every time you bought, you were gifted a pallet. I wish that they would come back!😊
I see so much of their products at TJ Maxx!! I work at Ulta and they are barely bought. I feel like once you have one palette you wouldn’t really need another. I have a rainbow palette from Morphe and I honestly don’t think I’d buy another palette again!!
What is so weird is that my MUA, who is crazy talented, made my favorite look she ever made on me with the purple Vault palette. Either there is bad consistency and she got an amazing palette or the MUA is a genius in makeup (she probably is anyway)
I never used this brand (i started my make up journey with Wycon, Maybelline and other pretty cheap brands 😅) but in this times i feel like ALL THE BRANDS LOOK LIKE EACH OTHER AND MAKE PRODUCTS THAT LOOK IDENTICAL. Does someone else feels like this?
I went on the Crown website, and their prices have increased considerably. The OMG palette is £25, as are all of their standard 35 colour palates. The cheapest ones are £20 and they’re all on sale.
I don't know if they can recover, when i think of morphe my mind immediately brings up influencers, they have to find a way to make their own identity to separate themselves
Their 35O pallete was what got me into the brand way before the influencer collabs I remember I saved up for it and it was such a good pallete and this was when I got into beauty RUclips in 2011 it's changed soooo much
20 seconds & you know I’m on it. I used to live by their brushes & palettes back in the dry, but once they partnered with Jeffee Star & Jaclyn Hill multiple times, it died for me. Love you Robert ❤
I absolutely love this new series you've been doing and I love and will watch anything you put out but I do have to say I very much Miss the makeup and mystery videos!
Wow! I didn’t know all of this lol. but I am a die hard continuous setting spray fan (only to melt my powders lol ) but not as a finale spray. And I love love love some of their brushes particularly the mini ones for my tiny hooded eyes. I know they’re not the best brushes out there lol but it’s extremely difficult for me to find brushes that fit my eyelids with blowing every single color out and for example the mini M506 brush does that for me. Also, the 8D glam pallet is a staple in most brown girls makeup collection. They were doing so bad tho😩
I learned many years ago that makeup companies used the same manufacturers right here from RUclips! Thanks to all the OG beauty gurus pointing out that you could get the same BH Cosmetics palettes from Coastal Scents for a fraction of the price! Or vice versa, whichever was on sale (when these brands were a big deal and had the largest color selections). Thanks to gurus and MUAs like you, Robert, for keeping us casuals in the know! I do own one of the mini Jaclyn Hill palettes that was gifted to me, and it's basically brand new cause the pigment is OK but not great.
Robert I'm loving your dewy skin. 🥰 Also I remember when they shut down their stores. That's when I was officially done with them. Like WTF!? All those poor people. I believe it happened during the holidays as well.
Thank you for bringing into focus all of the problematic influencers morphe is associated with and not just one…I cannot stand when others channels seem to be turn a blind eye to their problematic “friends”
I love these videos! I consume a lot of makeup content but I am not a consumer for makeup, so I dont know a lot about companies apart from specific products influencers I watch (aka you lol) review. I find it so interesting!
There is literally nothing Morphe could do that would make me want to purchase anything from the brand. Didn’t buy it then and wouldn’t buy it now or in the future. Thanks for another great video! 💜.
Im ngl these kinds of videos are helping me declutter my makeup collection. Not to be a total follower, but it helps push me towards throwing stuff out if I was already struggling with using it.
You touched on Jaclyn Hill but I would love to see a deep dive on her cosmetic brand…she had so many issues and her excuses for bad quality makeup made her reputation tank but now she seems to be on the up and up and regained people’s trust. After her lipstick scandal I stopped following her, it just seemed so unreal her brand has been able to bounce back.
7:12 Stephanie Nicole is one of my favorites. She’s been MIA from YT for years. I wonder about her often and have been leaving her comments in all her videos begging her to come back. Just love her reviews. Love her videos and the dedication she puts in her research and videos. I miss her.
I remember when the James Charles collab came out and xSparkage brought up the Crown thing to say “you know, get it if you want a cheap palette with lots of weird colors to practice”, and I was like “oooooh”. Lol
Morphe overestimated their clientele. They opened all those stores across the country then internationally assuming they could compete w Sephora and Ulta. In reality they were hosting meet and greets for the influencers opening those shops for them. Their nasty business practices were their undoing. Nappyheadedjojoba here on RUclips used to say never trust anyone w a Morphe code and it was so true
I remember when Stephanie posted the video! I forgot it came out 7 years ago. I remember watching it when the private label scandle came out. As people were starting to question between Morphe and Crown. (Its been a long time since this happened so my memory is a little foggy) I actually wanted to buy Morphe to start my makeup collection and was saving up for it. I however saw all the issues with the brand itself and I was doing my research for it. I decided against it and went with other brands. I truly think Morphe would have done BETTER if they didn't over saturate the market with influencer codes. Like yeah make that bag hunny, but i also don't need to hear it every 5 seconds during the video( Jacklyn Hill for example.) And actually stopped watching youtubers based upon this because it was all about selling.
I have a horrible confession: the Morphe 2 Hint Hint Skin Tint is actually my favorite foundation of all-time. One of the shades matches my insanely pink and fair toned skin perfectly (Hint of Marshmallow) and I love the formula as well. Plus it's so cheap at $18. I find Morphe so annoying for all the reasons listed, but uuuugh this foundation is my perfect match in color and texture. I feel very conflicted about supporting this brand but I do keep buying this one product. 🤦♀️
the last morphe palette I bought was the Lisa Frank collab just because it was cute and nostalgic. the formula is absolutely awful, I never ever use it because it’s just ugly. the packaging is cute tho
Jaclyn 🤝 Morphe in my mind I still own a bunch of their eye brushes and most are pretty good, minus maybe a couple of the early ones I bought that were generally scratchier. I also think the first Jaclyn palette run was good but I got sick of them after they made the same orange palette four times. They also made those HUGE palettes that were so inconvenient
To be honest the only thing I dislike about Morphe brushes is that the coating on the handles falls off too easily and sometimes the bristles fluff out after a while but I honestly like Morphe brushes 🤷🏼♀️
Great and informative video. I was also pleased that two of my favorite RUclipsrs were in this video, Nadi (PopLuxe) and Jen Luv. I'm really enjoying this series of videos. Great job and thank you!

I saw them yesterday in my Target, too, and in Ulta; it was odd!
@@riven799 haha yeah I honestly hadn't thought about it since it launched, so I was surprised when I saw it as well
i actually think morphe 2 has good products but their reputation turns me off so i won’t buy from them anymore
girl I saw it at Boots and I swear I thought it was dead. WHO is still buying Morphe
I remember when Morphe was the “IT” company and they were never that good and I was very disgusted that it took them so long to cut ties with James Charles. I can’t believe they are even still an online brand or that they are still in Ulta.
Some Target stores have Morphe in them too
I know. It's clear to me that the Morphe displays at my Ulta(s) are not getting shopped. The only good thing that they have left is their setting spray.
Literally every time I walk by the Morphe section in Ulta I roll my eyes and ask “is anyone actually still buying this?”
I.T.? I didn't know it was a tech brand!
(This a joke)
the fact that theyre still in ulta surprises me considering i have never seen a single person buy their products at my ulta while nyx and ELF are constantly having their new products sell out
My personal issue with Morphe is that their parent company bought Lipstick Queen and killed the brand. It is (was) my all-time favorite lip brand.
I loved their grey lipstick!
Lipstick Queen was great! It’s a shame what happened.
Oh wow so that’s what happened to LQ! I had no idea!
I was so surprised to see LQ bought by them, they didn't deserve LQ
I’ve never even heard of Lipstick Queen before
I miss Stephanie Nicole so much.
What happened to her?
Last I remember she had some health issues Started her own business(I think) and moved back to Arizona@@mels11592
She suddenly stopped posting. I wonder why. I loved how no nonsense she was.
I miss her too!!!
I miss her too, I remember telling her followers to buy crown instead as it was cheaper and basically the same thing as morphe but better formula.
where did she go?
@@saz_94She started having some health issues and after that she stopped posting. It’s been years since she uploaded anything. I hope she’s okay. 😢
I think it’s the Jaclyn curse. Everything she touches turns to dust.
That’s actually a good 😂 and so true
I think it’s no coincidence that every influencer Morphe worked with (Jeffree. James, Jaclyn) has fallen from grace at some point. The only one of that group (who didn’t work with Morphe), that is still beloved in people’s eyes is Tati.
I miss the Jaclyn hill pallette collab omg 😢
When you mentioned about the palettes being too big for a make up kit, I instantly got reminded when RUclipsrs were obsessed with the Coastal Scents palette, way back in 2009 and onwards, and "beauty guru" was first coined before we had influencers. Simple times.
Omg yes! I remember that, people really want to be called a guru of something
ah coastal scents and bh cosmetics! I remember really wanting those palettes 😂
I really believe morphe is the reason every celebrity and influencer has their own skincare and makeup line..they saw how lucrative it was and had to cash in.. cosmetics is so profitable and they saw it and ran with it.
I really appreciate that you feature so many black and brown creators in clips.
Just like I watch reviews of new products, from all people, I always feel we need to hear from everyone!
Robert throws the classiest shade on the internet and I am here for it.
Looooove that you included Nadi (Popluxe). I LOVE him.
Yes! Nadi is a treasure! 😊
He's awesome
I never heard of him before but I enjoyed watching him in the clip so def checking out his channel 🎉
Robert's voice and intro music are both so soothing I'm always like, "Wait, did RUclips throw a guided meditation video into my auto play- oh wait, it's Robert! Well, slay, RUclips, I appreciate it 😂"
"They were done with millenials. They hated us" i don't know why it felt personal to me 😂😂😂
So funny 😂
Man I miss Stephanie. She was awesome with the industry info.
I'm going to get a lot of flack for writing this, but...I have an MBA in marketing, and THE WORST thing Morphe did was dump Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Like him, or loathe him, JS drove foot traffic into the stores. Morphe was never the same.
Agreed and Jeffree knew that because he knows what value he can bring to a company
They were stupid to drop him.
yes exactly!! when he did conspiracy with shane that was their biggest sale on record...big mistake dumping him
So basically exactly what Robert is saying.
@Lupegonzalez8036 They also used Carmine in many of their products and didn't list it, which causes other allergy issues.
She married a Nazi. She's dead to us now
I remember how MASSIVE Morphe was when I was in high school & shipping to Australia was so beyond expensive on top of how pricey the palettes already were with the currency conversion (pricey for me as a high school student).
Oh gosh, that's about when I bought the 35O for the first time. Loved it. Finally let go of it last year.
It's really nice to see how confortable you became on doing your make-up and telling a story at the same time!
I used to think Morphe palettes were so good back in the glory days but Beauty Bay have done the bigger palettes 10x better
Yeah the beautybay palettes are such good quality. Not just "good for the price" good, but genuinely good!
@@JB_Fraulein_Kunst exactly this!
I love Beauty Bay palettes! They are so inexpensive and so pigmented!
Don't think BB covers Australia though, or the postage would be a killer.
I love Beauty Bay! I got their big palettes on their 50% Black Friday sale and they are such a staple for me. I’m waiting for the next one so I can gift them to another person I know who loves makeup
Their best formula for me was the first run of the first Jaclyn hill palette. It’s a shame we never saw it again.
I always choose Makeup geek over Morphe until Jaclyn Hill Palette came into the market..
Tragic.
Use p Louis colored base ❤
@@_.iivvee._There shouldn't be a need to buy different coloured bases to hand-hold shitty eyeshadow - that's way more expensive than a new palette in most cases. I'd recommend a white base for almost anyone to make pastels/brights pop, buuuuut the shades need to be decent for it to work anyway lol
@@ZijnShayatanica it definitely helps just depending on what you’re desired outcome is🙏🏼☺️ to each their own, it’s art ✨
Love your series! Would you consider doing similar videos on brands that have gotten super popular and your commentary on why they’re so successful? ❤
They are both so annoying
PopLuxe!! I love his reviews they are as honest as yours! I can’t get enough of you guys
Ill say Jaclyn Hill is a liar dont worry Robert i got you😂
I appreciated what you got for the price point.
Man I miss Stephanie Nicole, hearing her voice was so nostalgic! I remember that video she did so clearly!
Colourpop does the monochromatic pallets so well. I absolutely want to collect a lot more of those pallets just because they look so good together.
thank you for having such great closed captions on your videos.
I’ve never been into Morphe. I always got a weird vibe and could never bring myself to buy from them. 🙃
I Love when we have a Robert and James vídeos on the same day 💜
"It looks like packaging like , oh why am I in the hospital" LMAO...so funny Robert just keep being your amazing self
Those can't get in a big controversy as humans do🤷🏽♀️
I’ve found sigma and zoeva at TJ maxx and cheaper than Morphe :)
Are you also so entitled to speak for others and on their behalf whether they want you to or not?
And you call yourself “miss” while lacking basic manners and respect for others agency? You are a giant miss.
Ultimate ll used to make the best color palettes! I started makeup artistry in 1994,, I have never found a makeup besides MAC, that came close to their quality but they were much cheaper price wise and every time you bought, you were gifted a pallet. I wish that they would come back!😊
I see so much of their products at TJ Maxx!! I work at Ulta and they are barely bought. I feel like once you have one palette you wouldn’t really need another. I have a rainbow palette from Morphe and I honestly don’t think I’d buy another palette again!!
I did find morphe 2 in TK max!!
I often wonder how influencers come up with different descriptions of their speed reviews. When they look same 😅
@@jasmineloves2144 exactly! How they promote things that all feel and look the same with such happiness and HYPE?
I went on the Crown website, and their prices have increased considerably. The OMG palette is £25, as are all of their standard 35 colour palates. The cheapest ones are £20 and they’re all on sale.
I don't know if they can recover, when i think of morphe my mind immediately brings up influencers, they have to find a way to make their own identity to separate themselves
Yes! Jen Luvs videos about JH are great! Shes so informative i love her🙌🙌
Their 35O pallete was what got me into the brand way before the influencer collabs I remember I saved up for it and it was such a good pallete and this was when I got into beauty RUclips in 2011 it's changed soooo much
20 seconds & you know I’m on it. I used to live by their brushes & palettes back in the dry, but once they partnered with Jeffee Star & Jaclyn Hill multiple times, it died for me.
Love you Robert ❤
Didn’t even know they partnered with JS until this video! Gross…
I absolutely love this new series you've been doing and I love and will watch anything you put out but I do have to say I very much Miss the makeup and mystery videos!
I miss Stephanie Nicole so much! I hope she's doing great, whatever she's up to nowadays.
"I'm not saying Jaclyn Hill is a liar... but you know I don't trust people I don't know anyways so what's difference?..." 🔥🔥🔥
He's so hilarious!!
I love these "deep dive" videos. I have never bought anything from Morphe, but Sephora still carries their products.
Also I love this series so much! ❤ you should do Becca next
Lol
I remember xsparkage, one of the first people I followed. She was so cute!
Omg you have a super villain laugh. It's amazing, I love it. This whole review was spot.
Always great honest opinions from you. Thank you, Robert. 💜
Same. I bought one just for the nostalgia. I've never touched it because I heard the formula was crap.
Jaclyn 🤝 Morphe in my mind
I still own a bunch of their eye brushes and most are pretty good, minus maybe a couple of the early ones I bought that were generally scratchier.
By the time I got into the beauty space in my late 20s, morphie already had a bad taste in everyone’s mouths, I’m glad I missed out on that whole disaster!
You are right on the money ....Tell me why while watching this video ...i thought about how colour pop quality is decreasing....i searched color pop downfall ..your video pops of 15 hours .....such amazing timing ...such an informative video thank youu 😅❤
The WAY I CRINGED when james whispered “unleash ur inner artist” HAHAHAHA😵💫🤮🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
I love the new vibe/series. I adore you and Johnny Ross. The only way I would buy Morphe is if either of you endorsed them.
I think the age of the toxic influencers is over. People want teachers.
The Morphe x Jaclyn Hill volume 1 is still my go to palette. It’s such a classic
That’s what I’m saying. I LOVE mine too. I hear about all her drama in the community but I’m not in that community and I didn’t have a bad experience.
I wish I would have bought it before the formula changed. The original version seems to have been perfect.
Yeah I have never even watched Jaclyn Hill and know nothing about her, but the first release of that palette was really good.
@@cuddles31If only her other products could have been as good 🥴
@@blueismylove3128-Even I have heard about the Furry Lipstick …😮
