Beginning in 2020, the US Marine Corps deactivated all of its tank battalions to meet its 2030 modernization plan. In May 2021, all 450 Marine Corps M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks were transferred to the US Army.

Holy shit, Romania is/was still rolling its T55's.....That is awesome and tragic at the same time.
Well t55 proved to be more capable and reliable at mountain terrain than m84 ( improved t72) during fights at Dinara mountain.
@@vristeciorao Soviet-era tanks ARE sportier, and I know the Romanians have added upgrade packages to the base chassis, but...I mean, it's 2024. Those tanks aren't just older than the guys operating them, they're more than TWICE as old! They're a NATO country for pete's sake! Surely they could have laid their hands on some second-hand Leopard 2's or enough surplus Abrams to refit the rest of their armor corps!
@@MM22966 True. That war that I was talking about was 30 years ago. But it still had that punch on t72 tank. It is mainly a portable arty.
@@MM22966you also need to remember that Romania is the poorest nation in the EU. They simply cant afford it. I think their entire military budget is about 4 - 5 billion

I'm surprised we didn't see them using the more modern tr85m1. For training instead of their older t-55
