Apu availability is show by the run light. Avail means external power is available and providing correct voltage.

The Apu Gen switch never turns on. I am using boeing 767-200PW ER

it says fault and turns off???

Check ground power before starting APU. Check good start on APU before activating APU gen. Only disconnect ground power once APU on and available.
