Molly is absolutely amazing. I'm not a bluegrass fan, however I came across her and Billy strings and was stunned. They are bridging the gap between genres.
@@swampydouglasobannon8804 Holds her own with Billy? I would venture to say Billy holds his own with Molly. I find her to be more musical, more instinctive, more soulful than Strings by far.
@@swampydouglasobannon8804 Don’t get me wrong- Billy Strings is an excellent player. No doubt about it. I just find Mollys playing sounds more intuitive, expressive and ultimately soulful to my ears. Just my opinion.
Molly is just so good on this one! That lovely voice is unparalleled and absolutely unique, and the complexity, dexterity and speed of those guitar solos are unbelievable. I don't know the fiddle player, but he held his own among these giants. Hasee's energy is infectious, and her playing is spot on. And Wes is a dadgum virtuoso on that banjo. Superb, all!
There’s skill and talent combining to make music I don’t enjoy, and there’s music I enjoy that doesn’t take exceptional skill and talent, but sometimes they come together and it’s transcendent. This is that!
I like the fact that the banjo player isn't looking at an attractive young woman standing next to him, he's looking at her hands, as a musician. That says volumes about her talent and the respect it engenders.
I've just recently found Ms.Molly and I have to say I think she is one of the finest I've ever seen. Her voice is beautiful and her flat picking style is incredible.
The problem is this type of music is one dimensional and it doesn't appeal to everybody no matter how talented she is. She needs to dig deeper to get to mainstream pop.
@@Apphibios Sure, that is a sophisticated sort of pop/jazz. However, her definition of success may not be mass appeal, it may be to use the bluegrass based style, which is in her blood, to express herself. She was the first woman to win the International Bluegrass Music Association guitarist of the year award in 2017. If you know much about bluegrass, you would not say it is "one dimensional". It has grown and branched out a lot since Bill Monroe's time, and at it's best is an energetic and entertaining style of music. It can be downright psychedelic sometimes!

That Molly holds Her own with ole Billy
Strings and that's saying something.
You should be a Bluegrass fan a lot of what Billy plays is straight forward Bluegrass.

He was in Claire Lynch's band for years...an awesome guy

lol
Philly in May! See you there!
Molly, please start singing those old classics. you do so good on those.
She's so strong, her solo at 3:30..
That bassist totally needs a solo. She looks so ready to shred.
Grey Fox? . . . The last time we met we were fighting barehanded in a mine field.
Molly's got some nice thumb muscles...
Anybody notice Molly's muddy boots? Three days of gentle rains made for some mud, just couldn't distract us from Molly, though.
Heck of a mudder. ; )
I wouldn't call the rain we got gentle at all. That was some pretty heavy downfall we got
im pretty sure that most of us were paying attention to the music..... im 100% sure that was the purpose of the concert..... :)
That's what they're wearing now. Doesn't matter what the weather is...
That's flat pickin'. iykwim. : )

I think she has to go shallower to get to mainstream pop...

@@Apphibios LoL perhaps she can increase the popularity of this genre. Stranger things have happened.
The point is it's not pop. Give me a bluegrass pick, next to a rocky mountain creek anyday before overdubbed radio bs.
Yawn!
What is your problem.
