  • Decent bridge pickup, nominal specs of the Fender CS Nocaster bridge, 7.2K d.c. resistance, 3.8h inductance with the full copper plated steel baseplate from Mojotone. Plastic bobbin and vacuum potted however so it'll have similar output levels but a different sonic nature from any flatwork bobbins and hand dipped potting. I'll put it up against Ryan's Pretzel Pup neck in a different build and see how it fairs.
Blue has the Roswell/Artec copy of the Lollar P90 Staple, waiting for Bootstrap's overwound Pretzel bridge, Ryan's copy of the Fender CS Twisted Tele at 10.1K, wanted a bridge with stones heavy enough to live with the 8.6K Staple. Shall be naturally dark-ish all around.
Need to get into the neck pocket with a micrometer and make sure it's flat, the low E and A choke on every fret past 12, not a good sign. Twisted Tele indeed...

It could be poly in the neck pocket that's thicker on one side. I've had that happen on a few guitars, even harley benton. I'm working on one just now that I sanded the poly flat in the pocket. I also make a practice of performing a full setup with factory strings before installation of da'darios.

I'll measure with a long straight edge under string tension and feeler gauges. The fret rocker doesn't show any high frets past the 12th. I can finesse the difference between neck relief and saddle height, decrease relief and raise saddles. As is with relief at .012" I can raise string height on low E and A to 5/64+ and squelch the buzz but I count that a kludge not a solution, a good neck can go down to 3/64ths, sometimes lower.
I may open the long vertical side of the neck pocket enough to correct string alignment rather than reset the bridge, and shim the short side so it's stable against shifting laterally. The bridge would need to move about 3/32", drill and fill the body. The solution of course is for Firefly to set bridges precisely like a bona fide guitar builder instead of squinting with one eye closed and drilling holes that aren't even centered in the bridge holes with hand drills.
They should revise their method for drilling neck joint screws as well, both the bridge and the neck mounting screws are dirt floor jungle factory crap.
Waiting for the Bootstrap pickups to arrive before I dive back in, bridge gets the overwound Pretzel to keep up with the 9K staple P90.

Where did you find the pickguard with the truss rod wheel cut out or did you cut the pickguard yourself?

@@TedTalksGuitars Used the original pickguard as a template, painters tape on the replacement and traced out the cut lines on the tape. Combination of jewelers saw and Dremel.

@@TedTalksGuitars BTW this one ended up being a low fret, not high frets. Replaced it, fixed the weird frustrating buzz and fret slap.
Never moved the bridge tho I should. A pretty severe UPS adjustment centered the strings well enough but leaves too big a gap on the long side of the neck pocket.

"A Friday afternoon one..." man, that sucks. I've been very lucky w Firefly. Last week, I got a Madcat copy, and a white TL, both great on every front, in tune, intonated, playable out the box.. Musta been Tuesday builds! I must admit, I hadn't bought from Guitarsgarden for a year or so. Even back then, there were huge issues, but I always lucked out. I bought my 2 TL's Cyber Monday week (Mon/Tues). Hope you get your issues resolved.

Thanks, a fret level should bring it around if it's not twisted.
The Mad Cat is beautiful, Harley Benton has one also. There's an interesting new Olympic White one at GG, scroll to the bottom of the selections, it's got a Tele-ish headstock and a flame maple neck. The copies of the Fender Player HH are also intriguing.
This one I got with a particular project in mind so I expected work, not resetting the bridge tho. Didn't mention the 3 spots of dirt stuck in the paint but I already had in mind wet sanding the shine off the body so it's moot. Once the Bootstrap Pretzel Pup is in the bridge that'll put wind in my sails and I'll sort it good
